Folks,Tested the latest 169.12 driver last evening on Vista64 and it appears to be working very well. Check it out when you can. Here are some excerts from the release notes...GeForce 8 Series: The Help topic for Antialiasing inaccurately states to use override when turning off in-game AA. [308859]The override option should be used only if your application does not have built-in antialiasing control.

Well Xmas is near and Father Xmas is giving himself a presentthis year. A brand new 24" Monitor, thing is, I haven't got a clue as regards LCD-TFT monitors and seeing that it will bemostly used for FS, I thought I'd ask for some sound advicefrom other simmers out there.Had a good look around some shops today and the 2 makes that impressed me the most were Samsung & NEC. Also saw some Viewsonic, Asus and Acer. The NEC monitors I saw which impressed me wereAccuSync

Can you recommend a freeware package to map joystick buttons to keystroke combinations?I have a switchbox which pretends to be a joystick with buttons as far as Windows is concerned. This is fine if I only want to use functions assignable in MSFS but not if I want to control functions on add-ons such as the LevelD 767 which don't appear in the MSFS function list.Thanks--Bryn

Ulf,In my earlier post I metioned one of my add-ons was the Eaglesoft Twin Comanche. By testing I've found the nav lights do work at night on this one with DX10 - although not quite the same as with DX9. In spot view, on the starboard tip-tank for example, instead of the steady green and the flashing white strobe (DX9), with DX10 I get one flashing green strobe. Similar effect for red on the other side. The flashing anti-collision beacon on the tail also works - just maybe not as bright as in DX9. Funny thing is when I change to tower view and zoom in "from the ground" in DX10 - I see no nav ligts at all. Maybe its something to do with texture types ? I dont know enough …

Hi, I am starting my hardware from scratch.I want to run FSX with 3 monitor for the outside views. My questions are:1) is better to buy a graphic card and use TripleHead2Go or is it better to buy a card supporting the 3 monitors?2) is better to use XP or Vista? I will have a Pentium IV with 4 Gb RAM.thanks.Any advice in good configuration and card is really appreciated.

Hi, just curious to know if there are other with the now somewhat older 6800 series cards using the newer 163 series drivers. Has anyone with the 6800 series cards noticed any benifites using these newer drivers? Iam getting these anoying micro stutters in my sim after a reformat on the drive...before the reformat, my sim was runing smooooooth. Trying to figure things out here.I sim started to get these micro stutters once I installed GE Pro textures on it. Funny thing is, my comp was running great with the Asus mobo, then I fried my mobo installing memory, and had a friend install another mobo (Biostar) wich happned to have the same chipset as my asus mobo (Nvidia Nf…

Does anyone know why when I'm flying the default Baron or Bell 206 at night with Acceleration loaded and "DX10 Preview" ticked, my nav lights dont show up ? In spot view I can see the red or green coloured reflection on the fuselage side, or wing tips but I cant see the actual lights. No strobes, no flashing anti-collision beacon on the tail. I can see landing lights from head-on when I put the Baron wheels down. Have no other add-on software loaded at the moment apart from the Eaglesoft Twin Comanche, Carenado Skylane (which just shows white under DX10)and Alphasim Hudson.I've updated the drivers (to 7.15.11.128 dated 11/05/2007)from the Sony Vaio site for the NVidia 88…

Afther reading this and that about hardware and FSX performance and looking at benchmark charts, I'm still unsure what the current facts are. Hopefully someone can enlighten me:1.Quad cores with same clock speeds are better than dual cores, right?2.Due to the ability of FSX to spread the computational load onto several cores, there seems to be a "sweet spot" where that ability allows cheaper quad cores with slower clock speeds to be on par with higher clocked and extremely expensive dual cores, right?3.Can FSX distribute CPU load across more than 4 cores, i.e. if I'd decide to take e.g. 2 Xeon or Opteron quad core CPUs (=8 cores in total), would that be better for FSX tha…

Starting a new thread that addresses memory rather than motherboard chipset types, hoping that Davis sweeps by at some time .... :)I'm not sure which RAM is best, but just taking a look at Crucial:DDR2 PC2-8500 1066MHz US$143.99 5-5-5-15DDR3 PC3-8500 1600MHz US$359.99 CL=7The above is for a 2* 1GB kit.For a constant 1600 MHz speed, and the higher bandwidth of DDR3 but also higher latency (5 for DDR2 vs 7 for DDR3), what would the conparitive effects on FSX be for both RAM types with a constant motherboard chipset (say the GB X38 and X38T)?I know that the DDR3 offers better future options as latency improves as the product matures. Thanks- Bruce.

Please reference this post, http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...ing_type=searchToday it occurred to me that I should check my RAM usage when I get those mega horrible frame rates. Well, I got the same thing happening to me with the F/18-18 virtual cockpit again tonight....But this time I checked my RAM, and it was maxed out at 2GB!What is going on here? Is my RAM crapping out, or am I just running out of RAM, or is there a programming error within FSX Acceleration? I never had this problem prior to Acceleration either....Is there a memory leak in Acceleration? Or is my system out of whack?EDIT: ok with the link it still may be fuzzy, so I'm going to explain w…

Not sure where to post this, and this seemd to be the best place:Lately I have been 'losing' my keyboard in FSX. The 'fix' is to do a 'Ctrl-Alt-Delete to take me to the desk-top, then re-enter (restore from task bar) FS, and the keyboard works again.I also went as far as doing a 'restore' re-install for XP (Media Edition), which did not solve the issue either.I had blamed my wireless Logitech mouse and keyboard, so removed them, and replaced with a corded keyboard and a Microsoft Wireless mouse, but the issue remains.Any idea's on this?Does this have anything to do with the Sim Connect system?

I have my PC for about a year now, no problems until I turned it on yesterday. The system, booted up, but no signal to the monitor. I restarted it and then everything was fine. Now, whenever I turn on my pc, I have to restart it several times before I get anything on my monitor screen. I checked the cords, and the power supply, everything ok. I also reset the cmos. Could the video card be bad? Or is there something else I'm overlooking. Input would be awesome. My Gateway system specsAMD Athlon 64 X2 3800 processor2046 MB RamATI Radeon X1900 Gt, with the newest driversSB Audigy 4

Will FSX run on one of these newer Macs with that updated OS? I have heard that you use to be able to run older version through some sort of emulator (sp?) but the performance was not real good. I have a pretty old P4 2.8 Ghz ATI 9800 Pro system that just does not seem to do too well with FSX, especially when SP1 is installed. I get a lot of video corruption outside the cockpit of the default aircraft.Terry

using my relatively old X1900XT (waiting for the new 8800GTS to be released in the new year)and I'm quite surprised to be honest how (1) Less blurries(2) Noticeably smoother(3) Less "option" dependant - ie I can now using "high" clouds, bump up the AI traffic, increase autogen etcI was assuming before the game was GPU limited, but although it probably is to some extent (running at 1900x1200) - upgrading the CPU has made a much bigger difference than I was expecting after reading some of the posts on here.E6600 before was running at 3.3 gignew Q6600 (Q0 one) - running at 3.5 gigDidn't want to remove my motherboard to install a "back-plate" style cooler - so kept my old Fre…

Friends,Under SP-1 The image on my LCD monitor was perfect, with the exception of a few blurries which usually all filled in prior to my airplane getting to that location.BUT with SP-2/DX-10 Preview I am getting a wavy image whenever I move the view around. Its not unusable, but not perfect. It makes me feel almost a bit "woosy" to keep watching it. Like looking through water... and there are "waves that cross the screen." It WAS NOT present under SP-1. Also with SP-2/DX-9 this problem is NOT resent, the image is rock stable. Butut when the DX-10 Preview is enabled the image distortion is noticable. Does anyone know what there could be about SP-2 that would cause this? An…

To those who say FSX won't use 2GB of RAM in XP ;)This is a in game screenie, taken upon arrival into KMSP, from a long flight from Western ND to Minneapolis..... I started getting major stutters, and checked my RAM....topped out at my max lol!!!First time I've seen that.... then again, it was the F18 at like mach 1.6 all the way into MSP LOL!http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/181190.jpg

I've just gone out and got a second TFT monitor running at 1400 x 1050 and have an older one running at 1280 x 1034I need some advice specifically1/ Can you setup a VC (fs9 or FSX) over two screens using a dual output graphics card? ( I am currently using an ATI 1650 due to be replaced by a new 3870)2/ When I start the 2D (fs9 or FSX)cockpit, the panel is always on one screen and the outside view on another - can I do something in a config file to make sure they always start on the same screen, so I can use the second for GPS / Radio stack etcI'd welcome any links to information in general about multi-monitor setup on a single PCThanksRoy Hinds

I just upgraded from an 8800 GTS to an 8800 Ultra and I am concerned about the performance of that card. I have all the sliders at mid-point, DX10 enabled and my FPS are 14-18 at LAX which is about 2-4 FPS better than my old card. Not something to write home about. My system is a Dual core AMD 4200 with 3 gb Ram. I have a lot of add-on planes, do you think this could have something to do with that slow performance? Maybe it is time to just delete everything and start over again.

Hi All,I am finally at a point where I need to build a new PC. The current AMD Athlon XP just cannot handle FSX. Well it can, I just have to place sliders to the low end.I have read many posts here that have answered many of my questions. Thanks for those posting. Here are my choices:Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-X38T-DQ6. CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6850. I prefer the Core 2 Extreme QX6850 but the current price a bit much. The X38T motherboard does give me some upgrade paths for future processor purchases. Will the E6850 give me a good performance boost in FSX?Would I be better of purchasing the QX6850 now vs waiting?Does anyone know if graphic card makers are planning an…

There is a new Beta driver, the 169.12, the third or fourth one after Acceleration's release I think, and the only mention about FSX issues is the everlasting "Flight Simulator X

As you can see from these benchmarks, at 3.0GHz, using both dual and quad cores, the 6MB cache in the Penryn is good for a 9% performance gain in FSX. I suppose this gain would scale with clockspeed. Going from 2 to 4 cores makes no difference in framerate in this test, which uses FSX-SP1.http://sio.midco.net/FTP4/IMG0021312.gifhttp://www.behardware.com/articles/691-7/i...eme-qx9650.html

Running Vista 32, w/ DX10 and Aero interface. Whenever I start FSX,(now with Acceleration), I get a message that Windows is changing to Window Vista Basic Color Scheme, and the Aero features don't function. In FSX, the DX10 Preview is checked. Is this correct??
