Found 1 at a computer show in Allentown, Pa. $289.00 plus tax. Also bought a 650 watt Power Supply just to make sure all will work.

I want to document the procedures by which you can easily program the CH Products Throttle Quadrant to perform thrust reverser and spoiler deployment in FS9. I am doing this partly to help out those of you who want to learn this without delving into FSUIPC, and mostly so that I can search for these instructions in case I forget the process again in the future. What you need: CH Products Throttle Quadrant (TQ) and CH Products Control Manager (CM).What you will accomplish: Thrust reversing on equipped jet and propeller aircraft. Spoiler deployment on the flaps axis. What you will not accomplish: Individually controllable thrust reversing on each engine, a big headache messing…

Gary-(Reset MCP ALT) You have done a great service for our sim community with these benchmarks. Thank you. May I expand on a point which you touched upon- Quality. Frames per Second tells us no more about Image Quality than does Resolution. 50fps in an 800x600 resolution is not a great deal better or more useful than a paused 1600x1200 image ! Simulation "Quality" is the Quantity of Pixels multiplied by the Rate at which they are delivered to our eyes and brain. That is- the more pixels per second, the BETTER! If we multiply Resolution x FPS the result is Pixels per Second- a very large number, so dropping 6 zeros we get Mega Pixels per Second- MPS. At last a real measur…

And I hope I won't be disappointed. Saitek Pro Flight System + extra Quadrant. Going to arrive next week, I ordered it in the shop directly, so if there are troubles, they promised to order a new one and exchange.Any suggestions to someone who never had a yoke or flown with one, what to do? How to configure it? I also have a registered FSUIPC, so, what should I set, etc...?Right up until now, I had Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback II, which has served me really well.Opinions and suggestions are welcome, thanks :)

Good day simmers. If I were to go down to 1680x1050, on a LCD screen with 1920x1200 as its native resolution, would I suffer much less picture quality?? I mean, is this "native" resolution on LCD spec sheets something that you dont mess with, in general?? Or just what the LCD is capable of??The reason I'm asking is: If my FS9 PC can not handle the output of 1920x1200, can I go back to 1680x1050 without some suffering. But if, my allready 1680x1050 capable machine, does not handle 1920x1200 well, then Plan-B would be to revert back to 1680x1050.The step up from 1680x1050 to 1920x1200 is 31%, but I figure that I'm not adding 31% to the CPU load, because of those backgroun…

Quick question for you multiple monitor folks:If you run MSFS (FSX) in windowed mode, I believe you DO have the second monitor still available for whatever you choose, but...If you run MSFS (FSX) in full-screen mode and you have a second monitor, do you still have access to your Windows desktop in your 2nd display? -Greg

I got my new Dell yesterday, actually a day earlier then expected. Let me tell you this system rocks. I thought my E6700 Gateway with the ATI X1950 XTX Crossfires was fast! I did have one set back though! My backup disk was bad, So I lost a lot of data. I did have an earlier backup drive which had about 3/4's of what I lost, so it wasn't a total loss. Here's a sample of the FPS I'm getting with this system. Settings I fly with is everything maxed except Autogen set to Dense, Water 2xlow and no bloom, lens flare, or ground shadows. Aircraft shadows are on though! 100% airline traffic.New York & JFKGateway E6700 ATI X1950XTX Xfires Win XP DX9 Default and non complex Ai…

I just installed Vista Home Ultimate 64 on my system that I recently upgraded to quad core and am currently installing FSX. As I mentioned in a post a week or so ago, I was planning on running my dynamic FSX benchmark on FSX RTM, SP1, SP2 DX9 and SP2 DX10 and posting the results here, but before I do I was wondering what config you guys think will be best to run against each FSX install state.First up are what FSX settings to use. In the past, I have used global high settings, unlimited FPS + ingame AA/AF which, apart from the AA/AF setting, is what FSX defaulted to when I was running my E6400 CPU I previously had installed. As clinical as this is, I don't actually use …

Mine isn't scheduled to arrive until Monday. Has anyone figured out which driver works best for FSX? (I'm assuming it has to be a late one, since the card itself is only a few weeks old.)

Not the triple we were hoping for, . . . but it's 'bout a double. The 8800GT may appear in a dual chip, single card incarnation in January. The current 8800GT has made the current 8800GTX a difficult sell. I expect this dual GT will be their new $600 Vcard. http://www.fudzilla.com/index.php?option=c...=4299&Itemid=34Also the 8800GT(M) will be available in Laptops . . . well, right now. http://www.theinquirer.net/gb/inquirer/new...ile-chip-crysisOn the harddrive front, there have been some spirited conversations about the relative merits of a single Raptor vs a 7200 raid. The 7200s have finally grown up. Note the 3 drive 7200 raid actually beats the 3 drive Raptor ra…

Yesterday I decided to install Win Vista Ultimate. It's just plain amazing. The visuals. I can't believe how well it performs too! Here's my system:Intel E6700Asus Striker2 gigs Ram2 XFX 7800 GTX (169.04 Beta) Looking for an even better one.2 RaptorsAudigy 2 CardGo Flight ModulesAETI Yoke & Cirrus PedalsEverything is maxed out and FS9 looks great. There are a few driver issues but even at 8s AA, 16 anist, the sim performs fantastic. Locked at 30. Even in NYC in heavy clouds it stays between 25 & 30.FS X, is another story. I'm waiting for my 6850 and for my 8800 GT. They should be here by Monday. I want to see how Direct X 10 looks and performs.Jose

Anyone have one of these or seen one in person?http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?sk...d=118856132468927.5" for $599.00 is very tempting.I bet FSX would look incredible. I'm gonna have to drive to BB and see if they have one on display. I wonder what BB's dead pixel policy is? I'd hate to spend that much cash and end up with even one dead pixel.I wonder if I could arrive at a non busy time and generously tip a stockboy to uncrate one and hook it up so I could check it before leaving the store.

The last pc I bought is almost four years old (ready for the smithsonian). It suddenly froze up and died on me. Power light and fans come on, but no signal ever goes to the monitor. No bios. Lights on the dvd drive come on briefly then go out. Restore disk does nothing. The hard drive is brand new and seems to be functional. I inserted an older graphics card to rule that out...nothing. I have also tried removing the battery for a few hours and replacing it, as well as re-seating all cards and drives with no luck.If anyone knows anything else I could try before sending it to the funeral home, please let me know. So, here I am, someone completely addicted to their pc...cut of…

just this morning, my computer started a nice loud buzzing sound and whats really wierd is I checked all of my fans and nothing seems to be in the way - the buzzing noise seems to be coming from my vid card, - it gets very hot but right now its cooler - its very wierd in that it starts to really buzz faster and louder when I fire up FS9 - and then the little black flashes start coming across the screen..here is a picany ideas, and as I continue to right this and since I've been out of FS9 now for about 15min or so, now the buzzing has completely stopped, so is it when it goes into 3d mode?btw, it is a radeon X850 pci express 256ciao!Brian S

http://www.digitimes.com/mobos/a20071119PD208.htmlMonica Chen, Taipei; Joseph Tsai, DIGITIMES [Monday 19 November 2007]In an update to previous reports, AMD is planning to launch two versions of its RV635 graphics chip, XT and Pro, in January and February next year, respectively, according to sources at graphics card makers. The RV635 XT will have a core frequency of 800MHz, and 256MB GDDR3 memory, while the RV635 Pro will have a core frequency of 600MHz, and 512MB GDDR2 memory. Both will support 128-bit memory bandwidth.AMD will provide engineering samples of the RV635 Pro to its partners later this month, the sources added.AMD declined the opportunity to respond to this …
