Is there anyone that runs a i5 under Windows7/64 OC to 4 Ghz and can post his Windows 7 Performance index figures...The reason for this is that I am in doubt to upgrade my E8500 OC to 4 Ghz to a i5 P55 combination.I know it is not a representative benchmark for Fsim but a good overall indication to compare the older C2D to the latest mainstream hardware.My results are,CPU = 7 (E8500 to 4Ghz)Ram = 7.1 (Corsair Dominator 1066 5-5-3-13)Video = 7,3 (Asus GTX275)HD= 7,4 (Corsair SSD 128 Extreme, my raptor was hitting 5.9)Thx...

Folks,I have search the forum and cannot come up with much on SSDD and FSX. I am planning to update my system to Windows 7 over the holidays and in the process update my HDD. The plan is to use a Gskill Falcon II 128G for the OS and FSX and Seagate 1.5T for all other stuff. Has anyone compared the benifits of running FSX + addons on a SSDD rather than a HDD?Thanks for any advice.Andrew

Hi all,I'd like to build a dedicated box for FSX so I can better enjoy the visual/graphic goodies that FX offers over FS9 (especially the increased ground resolution). I'm planning on using Ground Enironment X and some PMDG aircraft. I don't need every slider all the way to the right. Okies,It's been a while since I have been here in these forums, but anyhow,I am interested in getting FSX installed and working on my PC.Curently I have Win XP 32b and was wondering If I upgradedto win 7 64b, Would I have better FR and such.I install FSX --->SP1 ----> SP2 then register, then TRY and fly. From my elementry understanding onboard sound is processed by the CPU.Since FSX is so CPU intensive, would adding a sound card and releaving the CPU of this produce a noticable performance increase?Current setup:Q8600P5N-D275GTXThanks.

Hi,I my mobo I have a pci-e video card, with a large heathsink and fan, then a sound card, and then another pci videocard, but also with a large heathsink.I have 2 slots left, but cannot use them due the large heatsinks.. is there any solution for this?Looking at risers, they only give the option to stick a card on the left of right in it, what still gives this problem.How does one put in more cards?

I have been contemplating an upgrade to my system, I saw this for sale as a pre-built bundle. I7 920 confirmed running at 4.0Ghz on air with 6GB of DDR3 to boot.I am wondering how the performance of this thing would be for FSX if I matched it with a GTX 295 graphics card (or is this OTT for FSX? Hi all. Which upgrades would be most beneficial for improved frame rate and performance of both FlightSim X and X-Plane 9? Specs are below. I am looking to upgrade my graphics card. I picked up a second 8800GT to run SLI and accidentally fried it. Turns out a modem card underneath it was blocking the fan and it overheated and is now dead. Since then I thought I'd be better off getting a much newer card rather than two older 8800GT in SLI, which apparently doesn't improve flight sim performance much anyway. So, it looks like we'll be using FSX for a while. In the past, I wished that MS would slow down on release cycles to give hardware a chance to catch up. Be careful what you wish for.I'm going to start saving to buy a new system in a year or so. I'm not in a big hurry, as I've got Orbx Australia running acceptably on my current system (built in early 2008). There's plenty of room for improvement, however.FSX is over 3 years old. It may not make as much use of multiple cores as we'd like, but the upgraded terrain resolution is great. Wife's computer:Apparently months ago, I put a shortcut on my wife's computer desktop for internet explorer.
