Im looking to upgrade my old system in the near future.What is the best CPU and graphics card to run FS9 maxed out.I dont want FSX because ive sent loads on extras like scenery and aircraft.I will also need to buy a new mother board, because i dont have any pci connectionI have a P4 3 hz cpu, sapphire x1950 pro card, and 2 gig of memory at the present.This seems to work OK until I start to use clouds which kill the frame rates, which i have fixed at 21. thanks for the advice steve

I am just learning the ins and outs of overclocking and do not pretend to be an expert. In my acknowledgement of my lack of knowledge, I figured I'd try the "EasyTune6" that came with my motherboard software a little bit. It runs natively in Windows 7 that I am using and the concept is that you can push buttons to help with preset overclocks. I don't know if this is the appropriate place to ask this, but I figured I would give it a try..I want to build (or buy) a better computer to run FSX. I currently have a laptop with an AMD Turion 46 Dual Core with like like 1.5 G of ram... I get like 7-9 FPS.... I want a better computer but can't afford these 1k systems... HiI am interested to know for those of you using 5.1 sound, what sounds you hear from what speaker. I have everything set up correctly (I think) and there is nothing comming from the center while using fsx. atc is comming from front and rear. I thought I would only hear voice from the center and effects and the like from the surround.thanks

I can't remember where I read, but it was that an ODD CPU multiplier was better with Intel products, than running with an EVEN 29 vs 30 for example.Is this another CPU Urban Legend, or in fact is there some basis for this? hey,I figured out why my fsx kept crashing after a while, and i'm almost 100 % sure it's the cpu. Now i want to upgrade from an e6550 @ 2.33Ghz to maybe somewhere around 3 Ghz (so also my just flight 757 can run smooth). I have my hd in 2 partitions. c is os and d is fsx. if I use acronis to clone or copy the d drive to another disk and make sure its labeled "d" will everything still work without haveing to reinstall? thanks in advance! :(

I have a new computer which includes two hdd's. The main is a 1TB WD 7200 and the 2nd is a 750GB WD 7200. Right now I have my OS and various programs installed on the 1TB drive while FSX is installed alone on the 750GB. I'm ready to go back and install FS9 and all of my many add-ons for it. Would you place FS9 (and add-ons) on the 1TB drive with the other progams, or would you place it on the 750GB where FSX is the ONLY program installed? Does it even make any real difference?
