Hey guys, I am currently in the market for a new pc for fsx. My current pc is a q6600 overclocked to 3 ghz, 680i motherboard, 4 gig ram, and a 8800gt. It runs fsx fairly well, but with my PMDG, and other complex addons it is starting to struggle. I am willing to spend in the area of about 2000 thousand dollars. I have kinda been out of the computer world for the last few months so I'm not really up to date on the newest tech out there. What would u guys suggest for a new system?

Hello all,I am getting ready to get an I-7 system put together primarily for FSX. I am pretty much at the top of my budget on this one but am looking for suggestions if I should change anything for a modest cost difference. This is my first I-7 so I am hoping to have dramatically better FSX performance now than on my old AMD Athlon Dual 2.8 ghz processor and 8800 GT card. I will be running complex add-ons like PMDG 747, Eaglesoft Cit X, REX 2.0, UTX, GEX, UT2, Flight 1 Mustang, and FSDreamTeam airports.New system:Thermaltake Element TCorsair TX 650WIntel Core i7 920 3.6GHz 8MBCorsair H50ASUS P6X58D PremiumSuper Talent DDR3-1600 6GB(3X2G) CL82x Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB SA…

Ok, I have a huge problem here. I am attempting to install windows XP 64 bit on a computer. I have the 1 tb HDD split into a 700 GB partition with the rest un-partitioned space. XP is (Obviously) being set up on the 700 GB partition. I plan on using the ~280 GB remaining to install Win 7 for a dual boot system. Once XP installs, the computer reboots and says set up will continue. I imagine it will boot off the HDD, with the CD remaining in the drive. A least that is how XP media center installs on my other computer. However, after the reboot, the BIOS forces the OS to load of the CD drive first regardless. Set up loads back at the default screen, with no…

My current computer is getting pretty outdated and I have ordered a new one to replace it. I ordered a Studio Desktop with an Intel Core 2 Duo E7500 2.93GHz Windows 7 Home 64bit 2GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 800MHZ and the onboard graphics chip will be replaced with my aged but stable nVidia GeForce 6800 Ultra. Any thoughts on how the system should perform running fs9? This includes all sorts of addons(EDIT: Removed question that had been answered)

I have several instances of XP (32) on my machine that I have installed over time and am starting to do some disk cleanup. Both partitions that contain the OS also have a Boot.Ini file, and the drive letter of the OS partitions changes between both instances of the OS (I always thought that this was contained in BIOS and independent of the OS, but I guess not).So- is boot.ini (and other associated boot files such as NTLDR, etc.) always located on the C: partition or drive? Or- maybe a better way to ask this- are the boot files always on partition 1 if there are multiple partitions on a drive?I'm not sure how I got multiple instances of the boot files on several partitio…

What follows is the result of that build.May recieve the following upgrades:WD 1T Black Sata 6 HD (just released in Japan) http…

Hi there. I'm planning on building a new system sometime soon and was wondering wether or not to upgrade my current XFX 9800GT XXX to a ATI HD5850 or wait till the new Nvidia cards come out. The rest of the system is based on a Core i5 750 which will probably be OC'd and 4 gig of ddr3 1600Mhz RAM. What do you guys think???

Right now I got rather cheap 10666 RAM (1333 Mhz, 9-9-9-20). I also have a i7 920 running at 3.3 right now (with stock cooler). I am thinking about getting better RAM, something like OCZ 3x2GB DDR3 PC10666 CL7.0 Platinum (7-7-7-20) or Corsair 3x2GB DDR3 PC12800 CL7 XMS3 Core i7 (7-8-7-20). Would I benefit from this...? Right now I am running the RAM at 1333: I suppose that when I leave my CPU as it is (at 3.3) the 1666 RAM will not really help, because it won't run any faster .. AFAIK I would have to let the CPU run faster in order to get the RAM run faster too, right...? But that would mean I'd need a good cooler for the CPU (and then I'd have to keep my fingers crossed …

I have read many posts about which way to go regarding one single big screen, or multiple smaller screens.I read here on avsim where someguy mentioned he was using a single large screen and preffered that to multiple screens, i liked the idea and went for single large screen myself, and it works just great.I used to use 26inch plasma before moving to 42inch LCD....improvements are1 - Never get plasma for PC , you will get a lot of image ghosting, LCD only ofr PC.2 - You get a much much much better view perspective and this helps for taxi and landing a whole lot. Taxing and landing is much easier cause you can see better.3 - With single large screen you dont need tripleHe…

I need some advice!I have been reading alot about FSX and setups, but one thing I just cannot seem to decide on, is the amount of RAM to put in my new computer!6GB RAM should be sufficient under Windows 7 64BIT OS, right? But then again 12GB sounds so much better :( Aaaanyways I read somewhere that WIN 7 64bit supports only 7GB RAM, so isn't the last 5 GB just overkill?Thank you for any light you cast on this subject!Boaz.

As the topic says, i think getting solid air cooling and a portable a/c is the best cheapest way for cooling.currently my [email protected] is cooled by 3x140mm noctua quiet fans, 2 other 140mm fans bringing air in from the lower front, and 2 120 mm noctua fans bringing air in from the top rear next to window where cool air comes in.The lower back of the pc where cpu and gpu are is exhaust of the system, and this area is covered with a cadboard box to force heat to the ground away from cool air coming in from window.finally work on the way to add 3 more 140mm fans on top of case to bring air in, in future my portbale a/c will blow cool air in right into the top of the case whe…

I do all my flights with TrackIR5 so I'm not looking for a surround display setup. I will be getting either a GTX275 or 285 for my Q9650 system and was wondering what the best display size would be. I'm giving myself a bit of a headache over what size display to go for because I want to run the display at it's native resolution, hence avoiding image quality losses from using a lower resolution or FPS losses in running FSX at a different resolution than the Win7 desktop when in full screen mode. So far I'm thinking:1) 1600X900 or 1920X12002) An H or I IPS panel3) Colour gamut covering all of sRGB FOR when I'm doing basic photo editing (is this standard now?) - but *not* a …

Greetings,I am seriously contemplating the purchase of a conventional i7 notebook for FSX usage when I am away from home. So far as I can tell, the NP9280 from Sager with the i7-975 Processor might be adequate to run FSX with add-ons comparably to my desktop system. Would anyone that has one care to share their impressions? Also, I understand that the system BIOS is versatile enough to perform some mild overclocking. If so, how well does the model do in heat dissipation?Thank you,

But the downside is that it is rumored to cost around $2000 when released. http://www.nordichardware.com/news,10590.htmlBest regards,Jim
