Hello everyone,I want to make the switch to Fs-X on my system but things don't go as planned.Last week, I installed Windows 7 ultimate 64bit on a completely clean and new harddisk. Installed all drivers and updates and find it a great OS.When I installed Fs-X and SP1 I was pleasantly surprised with the overall performance of my not that hot of a system. (Gigabyte GA-EX38T-DQ6 motherboard and Intel E8500 dualcore OC'ed from 3.16 to 4.10 Ghz with 4Gb DDR3 ram, ASUS GTX275 896 Mb, Soundblaster X-fi Xtremegamer fatal1ty pro.)Framerates were up in the 30 in very dense conditions and over 60 in sparsly populated areas. So, pleased with what I saw, I installed acceleration pack t…

FS9 SP1 on XP SP3.I get CTD on short final in complex addon airplanes but how do I know whether I need the 3GB switch? If I take 1 of my 2 2Gb Corsair sticks out, and no longer get CTDs, is that the definitive answer? If I do that, will I have to make any adjustment to the BIOS or wherever to allow for the change so that the pc will run right enough for me to do this test?I am, like a lot of folks here, confused and a bit afeared of the 3Gb switch: I have looked at lots of threads and still haven

I have delayed activating my latest XP install to see if previous problems were solved. Some days ago I noticed I had a Isass.exe file but it didnt appear to do any harm so I left it. It said it was part of a system file.Today, with 6 days to activation I am getting constant warnings of a corrupt file (Isass.exe).I made sure the relevant Windows security update was in and ran the sasser removal tool: when I next looked there was a big warning message that wouldnt go away.Reboot. Same.I use Eset Nod32 antivirus, uptodate.Thinks: is this a boobytrap put in by Msoft to force me to activate?

Just got my new computer running Windows 7 literally 15 minutes old.. Do not have any speakers attached so tried to listen to sample music through headphones and got no sound. I have a few movies saved on my External HDD so I pulgged the USB lead from my external drive into a front USB socket and poof! There goes my extermal Drive - noise and a blue flash. Computer still seems to be ok.(The Ext Drive had been plugged in and was working a few minutes earlier!) Any ideas what could have caused this before I go back to the guys who made my computer. They literally could tell me anything.William

Hi to all of you out there.I want to build a new system form scratch. I am in FS9 for 6 years. I fly the Aeroworx B200 as my main plane and I want to go to FSX but keep FS9 as well. I use a lot of add-ons and AI's. I've created my own small air company that operates in Greece (fictional). So I need a very powerfull system. Money is not an issue for this project. I would appreciate your advises and help. Thanks

Hello All,I attempted a small overclock to 2.6 to 2.8 on an amd athlon quad core x4 running at 1.5v ran pime 95 for 6 hrs started up fsx with frames locked at 20 and stayed fairly consistant other than the fact that it seems a little stuttery unlike before I was running around 10-15 fps however was the smoothest 10-15 fps i have ever seen. Is this normal side effect to overclocking? my memory was not touched my and specs are below.Amd athlon quad core x4 2.6 stockasus m2n68-se2 motherboardgeforce 9800gtcorsair xms pc6400 4gb ram

I'm starting to get OOM errors with a few of my addons. I never got these errors before because my last computer didn't have the ability to run at the high graphics setting on FSX as this one is capable of doing.I have been using winxp32 bit for a long time and I would like to upgrade to a 64 bit system to utilize my 4gigs of ram and avoid the OOM errors. I was thinking of upgrading to winxp64bit instead of win7 just because I am familiar with xp and also I could probably avoid any incompatability issues that win7 may have, not to mention I can pick up xp64bit for 60 bucks. Can one of you gurus tell me if there is any reason to goto win7 instead of winxp64bit for a ded…

Does anyone get 100+ FPS with FSX with all the sliders maxed out and flying the default FSX aircrafts? I know anything > 30 is great, but I was wondering how a top end computer would handle FSX.

I currently have a q6600 and I'm thinking about getting a q9550 quad core intel processor. I do a heavy amount of PMDG flying and a lot of Pinnacle HD video movies that demand a lot of cpu. Is this processor cost worth the gain that I might see by switching to it rather than the q6600 that I have now? I have 4 gig of DDR3 kingston ram 14400 with a GE force 8800GT graphics card. Any ideas or comments?jack

Hi GuysI have set my PC up pretty much exactly to Nick Ns guide (no exaggeration it is 99% to the letter) . And before I got UTX / REX it seldom dropped below 40-60 FPS most areas with smooth flight.Since purchasing REX and UTX Europe during approaches and scattered clouds the performance is now becoming a little stuttery and FPS are dorpping down to 20FPS or lower at Heathrow and it is annoying me. If it makes any difference, I mainly fly around the UK.I browsed many forums before getting UTX and then REX and all the Forums I looked at suggested that (espicially REX) had little or no effect on performance. (Sometimes improving it)My experience is the opposite of this. UT…

So Im looking to buy a new system in the next week. The main purpose of this system will be to run FSX and FS9, im coming from a P4 3.4 so this is gonna be a big upgrade. I would like to stay under $900. Im looking for a complete system already built, With Windows 7, a Nvidia card, and at least 600w PSU. Do you guys have any recomindations?? Been looking at places like iBuypower, NewEgg, Tiger Direct, eCollegePC and seem to be some decent systems out there under 900, but just not sure what would be the best set up for FSX as right now i dont even run it. So any help with the right direction would be great.

HiI get the feeling I am missing something with fs9. I get ok performance with my rig - I limit to 24fps which drops in detailed areas like FSDT's JFK. I also use Activesky and nhancer and have AI up to about 75%.I have read numerous posts about improving performance but none have really helped to any great extent. I just get the feeling that I should be getting slightly better performance than I actually do. Clouds are a major problem for me. I use the DXT textures from Activesky because I think that these are less of a burden on performance than others (but please correct me if I am wrong). I also limited the thickness of cloud layers to 1000m and layers are limited to …
