Hey everyone, Just looking for some information and this is the best place to come I believe. I currently run FS9 pretty well on my AMD Phenom II Duel core 3.1 Ghz black edition AM3 processor + 4 Gb Ocz DDR2 OCZ ram + 9500GT 1gb Graphics card.I can fun FS9 pretty well getting 30-40FPS in most places with anything I throw at it with scenery weather or pay ware aircraft with AI.Recently I've installed FSX and in default aircraft I get a acceptable frame rate around 20FPS which is a big step down but it's still flyable, I've been putting off moving to FSX for a long time but now I really want to make the step finally. This Christmas I will be buying a new 22" monitor and a GT…

I just got this thermal paste, the ARCTIC MX-3... and now my system is running 10 degrees celcius cooler... I'm really freaking impressed and at 15 dollars it's cheaper than a fan :) Anyone else using this stuff or anything better...I went from 48 degrees to 38. Totally would recommend this stuff to anyone.

I want to upgrade from my current Corsair 2x1 RAM to a 2x2. I am running a Q6600 on a P35 abit board, bus at 355 MHz and RAM set to 5:6 so my RAM is at 426MHz. I am running Corsair CMS2 DDR2-800 @ 5/5/5/18-2T and 2.08v, so a slight OC.I see plenty of DDR2-800 2x2 kits, some at same settings, a couple like Patriot Viper advertise 4/4/4/12. Or should I go to a DDR2-1066 and use a different DRAM speed ratio (2:3 I think is available to me)?So any advice on best route to take for this upgrade?scott s..

I just installed a 3gz core 2 quad core to replace my existing core 2 duo. I was hoping for improved framerates. What I got was a cut in frame rates of 25 to 50%. I flashed the bios with the most recent upgrade. I must be doing something wrong. Surely a quad core processor will help improve performace. Is there maybe something that must be changed in BIOS or in the operating system to take advantage of the quad core processor.BJ

hello,I have this setup:Core i7 920 @ 4.43GHz, HT disabledG.Skill Trident 6GB @ 1690 6-7-6-2T8800 UltraAsus Rampage II extremeWin Vista 64The problem I have is that despite this substantial upgrade from my previous system (E6600), I still cannot get FPS above 8FPS in places like Mega Airport sceneries with the LVLD 767. Previously, looking at the task manager, both cores would be utilised at 100%. With this quad core however, this is what the usage looks like:I've tried using the affinity mask tweak (am using SP2 BTW), but I am having no luck at all, there is no change whatsoever. Any ideas? :(

Two simple questions.1) Would it be a significant difference running FS9 with an AMD Phenom II X4, compared to an AMD Athlon X2 6000+ 3.1ghz? 2) Which one of the Phenom CPUs (i.e. clockspeed) do you recommend for FS9?Thanks

The question is, if he wants to have 3GB of RAM, can he have 2GB in one slot and 1Gb in the other as long as the RAM make and model are the same? Thanks in advance.

So, what I have right now is a E6750 stock. 3G DDR2 and a stock 8800GTI'm probably going to upgrade so my FSX with run a little smoother. I've looked on the bay and seems like most i5/7 runing from $300(CPU+RAM+MB bundle). On the AMD side, they seems to run a little less. I'm talking about Phenom II X4.Has anyone have any opinion on them?ThanksVincent

I have a 32bit Vista PC with 4Gb RAM installed. After I bought the PC I found out that 32bit systems could not use all 4Gb RAM. In the Windows Control Panel/System and maintenance/System screen my memory (RAM) was displayed as 2814. I found a tweak that increased this to 3326. I have just had to reformat my hard drive and the value is back to 2814 and I cannot remember how I increased the RAM. I usually note down any tweaks but this slipped the net. Does anyone know how I did it? Another question I have is regarding the paging file. I have been told that a value of 1-1.5 times the RAM is best but is this, in my case, 1-1.5 times the installed RAM of 4Gb or 1-1.5 times the…

  17. Hello,I have purchased a new printer. It is a basic HP Officejet 6000. I just need it for occasional printing - we have a all in one on another computer for bigger projects.Anyway, the printer offers a cat 5 connection to a router which is connected directly to my FSX only desktop through cat5 and a USB connection. We have two laptops and another desktop that use the wireless network. We have a NAS drive connected to the wireless network as well.I really don't want to install the HP software on my FSX rig (or should I not worry about it?). Do I have to install the software on every computer that is going to use the printer or will they be plug and play over the network? I…

I'm seeing the i7 920 processor with an X58 chipset mobo at around $460 and the i7 860 processor with a P55 chipset mobo at around $400. Would the new i7 860/mobo combination be a better value for FSX? Will it equal or better the i7 920/mobo combination without overclocking? Does the Intel processor "Turboboost" provide an FSX performance increase? Thanks for any input.

Nick your assumptions were obviously correct, as soon as I got some after market cooling I had no difficulties at all. For anyone that is interested I installed a Noctua NH-U12P cooler and OCCT for an hour never gets above 68C and we are into some warm weather here already, 30C+. All(!) my FSx related stuff (including REX, PMDG, scenery..everything) is on that SSD.When starting FSX the performance is good. However, when I start my default flight (PMDG's JS4100) the loadprocedure suddenly stops at 27-29% when it's apparently loading the terrain data.During that time I see no diskactivity (I've got resource monitor open). This "time-out" costs 1,5minute before the loading continues. Then it stops again at 81-82% for about 30secs while adjusting scenery objects. My specs: see signature. My WIN7 is quite stripped of unneeded services and features (no AV either)…

I found that I had a few things that did not want to work on the 64 bit system, so also put together a secondary computer with a WinXPPro 32 Bit OS for those purposes. Through WideFS and/or SimConnect the secondary is also implemented for FSC, PFE/Proflight2000, FSM, ASA, AISmooth, and FDC for FS9 and/or FSX.I normally leave everything runing twenty-four hours a day, seven days per week.Everything works swimingly with one odd occurance. Periodically, the secondary computer turns off. So far at least, while it is being used for any program or purpose, it keeps runnin…
