I recently purchased FSX. I aslo have FS9. I am currently getting between 15 - 23fps sitting at Rotterdam airport at the C1 parking area, with the Nederlands NL2000 scenery. In the sky I get between 15 - 45fps. Sometimes it can go a slow as 5fps over heavy area's. Airports seem to be the area which really slow's down my Fps.I have also tested planes with the Bluesky photo scenery and I get between 30 - 60 FPS. I also see my default scenery runs at 25 to 65 FPS.I am looking to Buy ORBX's Aussie scenery and Brisbane Airport. They say ORBX's scsnery runs like the default so i should get above 25 Fps?Someone suggested to get another 2gb of 1333 ram making a total of 4gb of 1…

Because I heard that FS9 doesn't utilize multiple CPUs.And how about FSX? Will the CPU upgrade make a difference?

  3. Hi,I understand that FSX doesn't really rely on the graphics card and CPU speed is much more important. However to what extent can an old graphics card hold you back? Would you recommend replacing mine which I have had for a good few years now?My FSX performance is generally good but I have found (like most people I guess) it goes slowly in busy airports and areas. Improvement is not essential (I am more than able to enjoy FSX) but would be nice!My system infoWindows XP 32 (in the process of upgrading to Windows 7 64Bit)Intel I7 920 OC @ 3.16 GHz3GB RAM (should I upgrade to 6 GB once I have the 64bit system or would this make no difference?)Matrox Triple Head2Go (3 19i…

OK.. About 2.5 years ago, I built myself a Dual Core OC to 3.3Ghz PC. The performance has been totally inadequate and hence I have not used my Sim for almost a year and a half.,..hoping a fast processor would come along and make my experience better.Has the time arrived?Could someone suggest a good value for money system? Lets say, $2000-$3000 range. Something that can be OCed as well. I plan to have Win 7 64bit and prefer 4 monitors. 3 for front view and 1 Touchscreen.A CPUMother BoardMemoryVideo cardStuff like HD and soundcard and Keyboard etc, I can salvage from my old PC. Hey guys. I've never overclocked a CPU before...I built a new computer a few months ago but held off on getting an aftermarket heatsink, as I wasn't sure if I wanted to OC yet. What I want to know before I buy a CPU cooler and delve into the world of OC'ing is: how much of a performance increase are we talking here? Is it worth the effort/$$?I currently have a I7930 at stock 2.8ghz. I was thinking of going to 3.8ghz or 4.0ghz.other specs: ATI 5870, 6gb ram(ddr3 1600), P6X58D premium moboThanksL. Schwarz

I have this PC on its way. Please give me your opinion of the performance I can expect to see in FSX. Intel Core i7-875k (OC'ed to at least 3.8 GHz) 8 GB DDR3 Corsair Dominator RAM (2GBx4) 1333MHz NVIDIA GeForce GTX470 1.2 GB EVGA Superclocked EVGA P55V Mainboard 1 TB SATA-II 7200RPM HDD 24X DVDRW Asetek 570LX Liquid Cooling system w/ 240MM Radiator and Dual Fans Windows 7 64-bit Azza Solano 1000 full-tower case with dual 230MM fan and 3 additional fans I think my performance should be relatively solid. Cooling is more than sufficient and I may even tweak my video card for increased performance on that. Thank you in advance for your opinion.

But have decided to put it on hold for 6 or so months til the I7 980's drop down in price or the release a 2. something ghz chip that will allow us to O/C and a 6core chip.Having said all that and my new job position requires me now to have a laptop on site and since I "need" one ive chosen to get this particular model and hope it will FSX pretty well,Here's a link to the machinehttp://www.austin.net.au/ProductList/Produ...SX/Default.aspxIf the link doesn't work here's some specs;Intel Core i7 720QM (1.6GHz, 2.8 Turbo)6GB DDR3500GB HDD 7200rpmnVidia…

Good day FSX experts. As there is a $100.00 difference between these two CPU's, I was wondering does FSX ever use 6 Cores (let alone 4)??My line of thinking is to get the Crosshair lV Formula and a Phenom 965(@4.0 Ghz) and use it with my GTX 285. Does that sound resonable ??I think an i7 system is far to expensive for me.Thanks in advance.Golli

I run FSX on a laptop with this model Samsung SSD: MMDOE28G5MPP-0VA. I upgraded from windows Vista to 7 (not clean upgrade), but I later had a problem with my antivirus and had to do a clean install. Now, I have the default Microsoft driver for this SSD and it is not performing correctly. I did a benchmark test with CrystalDiskMark, and got results similar to the benchmarks my SSD should get, according to Samsung. Unfortunately, I recorded airplanes at my airport's aircraft viewing area, but my SSD doesn't perform correctly when playing back HD video recorded with HD camcorder (video plays find on camcorder which has a regular hard drive, but the video tends to lag someti…

  18. Hello everybody. I was wondering if I could get some help with this. I recently built a new computer about two weeks ago. The specs are as follows.i7-980xevga x5812 gb g.skill 1600480xvelociraptor 300gbw7 ultimate 64-bit.Anyway when I put the yoke and the rest of the components onto the computer (I put the throttle and pedals on the yoke and the yoke to the pc) the yoke keeps "resetting" itself. It gives me the correct time, but then it goes to 00:00:00 on the little time screen randomly and starts counting up from that. It also randomly goes back to the normal time and such. Well this wouldn't be a problem if there was no side effect. The side effect of this is that comp…

If anyone has made the upgrade and feels it is worth while please let me know. One comment on the GTX480. I love that GPU. I was using ATI in the past and I had major FPS problems with clouds and trees and also the "blurries". With the GTX 480 all of the problems are now gone. I have the FPS set to 40 and it is now solid around Hawaii. It's nice to be happy after a long battle trying to get FSX to "fly" properly. The above comments also apply to FS9. 21. Greetings Everyone!I sure hope this post finds everyone happly simming their lives away.My main sim these days is FS2004, and I think my performance should be better than what I'm getting. I'm not a fair weather pilot, so I like a lot of clouds when I'm heading into my destination airport. I'm trying to find out why my FPS and "smoothness" would drop when I start getting into the clouds. And I'd like to know what I can do enhance the performance of my rig. Sometimes it's less than 10. But for sure that "smoothness" is always lacking when I'm shooting an ILS.One thing that's really annoying is when I spot view the plane. It can take 15 seconds for the textures to fill in. …
