This seems like a pretty good price. Are there any weak or inadequate components?Does anyone have experience with Cyber Power? Taking delivery of my new computer on Monday, for storage it has 2 x 500gb drives set up for raid0 plus a 1tb slave drive. I am thinking of keeping windows and fsx on the primary (raid0) drive and installing my other software (photoshop, office etc) on the slave drive, can anyone see any possible issues with this?

Hi,I have been running FSX for a while now with a number of complex addons (scenery and planes). I try to keep a reasonably high-spec machine (AMD/ATI-based - reluctant to pay the prices for Intel/Nvidia hardware). As I continually try to tweak to get the most out of my system I can't help thinking that we will never get the 'perfect' FSX system because of the way it was programmed. For example, if I try to run Captain Sim 757 at Heathrow Mega Airport with full sliders parts of the plane vanish - trawling through the internet I discover this may be because there isn't enough memory available (I have Vista64bit with 8Gb of RAM). I conclude therefore that because FSX is a 32b…

  5. Hi Folks,I have finally decided to buy a new computer to replace my Dell E510, P4-3.4ghz, 2gram, and 9500GT 1gig video with an off the shelf model; since, I am not up to building one. I ran across the computer below at BB and would appreciate any comments if this will run FSX reasonably well with payware Cpt. Sim and PMDG planes and Orbx PNW with medium settings. Since this weekend is a free tax day helps motivate a purchase. On my existing system PNW with several Carenado planes runs quite well as long as I stay away from the large cities. If there is a better deal for about the same $$ would appreciate hearing from you as well. Gateway

I am thinking about buying a new computer to run FSX smoothly(I have not even tried to run FSX on my current dinosauric system - I know it would be rediculous). Currently, the 970-980 are out of budget for me. My question is- Is there a significant increase in performance with a chip greater than the 920 Oc'd? --- Is a 930 or 960 better? -- there is a significant difference in the price. Also, I am assuming that any of these precessors would make FS9 zing....correct (920 and upwards)?

  12. Hi,Recently i installed a new cpu cooler and had to move my memory modules to slots 3 & 4. They wouldnt fit in 1 & 2 because of the large heat-sinks and the new cooler being in the way. This caused the system to develop delays which were noticeable in FSX.As i scanned through the BIOS i noticed that the trfc values for the unoccupied slots were set differently to the occupied slots. In my case slots 3 & 4 were at 127.5ns and 1 & 2 were at 75ns.After putting them all to 127.5ns the system had no more delays and FSX had no stutters. If your having stutters check that out in the BIOS, you may have to set the memory timings to 'manual'.I hope this may help some.…

Hey guys,I want to buy an iMac, as I'm getting a bit fed up with laptops. No, there is no choice: it'll be an iMac, simply because I want to use Mac OS X legally. And indeed, FSX is not the main use, but it'd be very nice if I could run it okay while having multiple addons installed, such as the PMDG 747, REX, and various Aerosoft airports. The problem now is: what iMac is best? The link below shows an overview of all iMacs:http://www.apple.com/nl/imac/specs.htmlScroll down to see a comparison chart. I have been thinking about the 27" iMac, the one most to the right. I get an educational discount, so it

Hey guys.I want to upgrade from my E6600 to an i5 or i7. I really like the price of the i5-750/1156 platform. It seems to me the only thing I'd be losing versus the i7/1366 platform is hyperthreading which is turned off for overclocking anyway and FSX doesn't use it. And I suppose x58 motherboards have other features like full bandwidth 16x PCI-E slots but again, since FSX doesn't use SLI I won't miss that plus all the other features you pay the premium for. And does FSX even with add-ons really need more than 4gb? I've heard some people say that 1366 is more future proof, but new sockets later this year are superseding both 1156 and 1366 and I only upgrade every 3 years …

-Query for the tech experts. Since everything manufactured by man has a range of values when specifying quality: typically + or - some spec or perhaps stated as a "must be met" minimum value:-In a computer, ultimate performance (such as FSim Frame Rate) is dependant on a lengthy chain of components (ie chips and within, transistors etc) - all functioning, at least, at their minimum specification. -If all computer components in a given machine, functioned ONLY at their minimum specified performance, would not another, apparently, identical computer be faster if its components happened to be able to run at the upper range of specification variability?Ex. A transistor meetin…

Hi boys, just wanna throw a question at some of you guys. I'm currently helping a mate build a gaming rig for multiple games, but mainly FSX. He wants an SSD and I want to know what sort of space does FSX + addons + OS take up? Would it all fit on a 60GB SSD? Also, I have been looking around for him and have come up with 2 possibles, the Mushkin 60GB Callisto deluxe series with a 285MBs Read and 275MBs write (seq.). The other is the corsair performance series 64GB. The seq. speeds are slower (220/180) than the mushkin and is $15 more. Just wondering what one you guys prefer and which is the better buy and brand. Cheers
