About a month ago I started to get shutdowns of my system. No Blue screen, no program exception--the system would just turn off. The shutdowns would come after about an hour of activity.I thought it might have been a power supply or motherboard issue, maybe even a cpu issue. Temps were normal, so my first action would have been to try replacing the power supply. My system had been superbly stable and had not crashed once in the 14 months I had owned it previous to my issues.I decided however to first thoroughly blow the dust out of the system. I did not see much, but I used a can of compressed air and blew out all the major components and the power supply. That was tw…

I was having some fun in NYC today with my Cerasim B412P. For my touch n go, ATC instructed me to enter a left downwind for 31L - which I did but noticed on base 10 FPS is pretty low and somewhat difficult to control... even for a slower helicopter.Te question I have is are you guys' with the 4.0+ GHz clock on your CPU's able to run 30+ fps with similar settings as I am in this shot? Key things:A) Downtown NYC is in view:( Default AI set to average 50% (no cars though)C) Clouds set to medium highD) LOD radius middle sliderE) Autogen NormalI don't care about FSDreamTeam payware JFK but I'd like to be able to run the same settings I have now but with pure smoothness which…

I have been pricing out building my own and it really is not becoming much cheaper. I have looked at some other machines and I am probably going to pick one of these. Which one do you find best for FSX? I know the vid cards are not the newest but right now I cant afford anything more I will look to upgrade later. All have Win 7 64 bit. 1) i7 930(2.8GHz) 6GB DDR3 1TB ATI Radeon HD 5770 (cheapest rig) 2) i7 860(2.80GHz) 4GB DDR3 1TB ATI Radeon HD 5850 (is the speed of this 860 correct? Would the better card be worth the 860 instead of the 930 even though they both are showing the same speed, is the DDR3 too low?.) 3) Intel Core i7 920(2.66GHz) 9GB DDR3 1TB NVIDIA GeForce GT…

Hey guys, quick question. I'm on a budget of about 700-800 US $ and i was wondering, what would be the best rig for FSX? But here's my mindset, either i spend this money and get insane results, or i just don't want it. I don't want to blow 700$ to get sub par performance. Thus said, is it even possible to run FSX with Flytampa scenery and addon models and AI....over 50 FPS....max settings? Even with overclocked everything? What would be the ultimate rig guys that would be able to do that....under 800$?

Aloha from the land of low frame rates.I just upgraded to an i7 930 with 12 GB of DDR3 memory. The mother board is a Gigabyte X58A-UD5 with two ATI 5770 graphics cards in a crossfire configuration. I'm using Catalyst Control Version 2009 and Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit.I ran a few 3D graphics tests using a number of programs and the old ATITool. The ATITool on my old Pentium D 830 with a X800GTO graphics card has a frame rate of 115 FPS and on the new computer the frame rate is 1250 FPS. I prepared for some nice smooth flying. The old computer has no problem making over 40 FPS with near maxium settings for scenery and mostly quality settings on the Catalyst Control so almos…

Hi all,I'm having trouble with FSFlyingSchool 2010 and Squawkbox 4 sharing the same sound card (a Soundblaster X-Fi Extreme Audio). With SB4 running and set to use DirectSound FSFS runs but will randomly crash out. If SB4 is set to use Wave FSFS won't run at all.So my idea is to enable my sound chip on my motherboard and use it exclusively for FSFlyingSchool. My speakers have multiple connectors (presumably for left and right channels?) so I assume I could plug one speaker connector into my Soundblaster and the other into my onboard sound chip. Will everything work normally this way or will it cause some sort of hardware conflict? My only other option is to use my head…

A few weeks ago, after a "routine" hard drive failure, I asked my local techshop to give me a few quotes on pretty much a complete system re-build. Now I must point out that I have absolutely zero knowledge of the technical side of pc's therefore any little problem that occurs means more business for them. Thing is, I'm not patient enough nor do I have a great enough love for all things pc to try and learn that side of things. All I want from my machine is - amongst other things - to be able to experience FS9 with most - if not all - sliders "maxed out" without having to watch a slide-show, something I have yet to see. As far as I am aware I don't use many addons that are…
