I have been browsing looking for a laptop cooler for my Dell XPS M1730. I am going to revert to using it (temporarily) for FS9, and it can run a bit warm. To make matters 'worse' I am just about to move to hot, sticky Thailand for my job (which is why I am taking FS9 on my laptop, until my main FS PC is shipped out in a few months)- so, although I am sure my accommodation will have at least one a/c room where I can use the laptop, a cooler would be a good idea too. I already have a small cheap one, but it's not going to be up to the job.So I wonder if anyone using a large gaming laptop for FS has a recommendation? Obviously needs to be good for this size and weight of not…

Is this a fluke or something seriously wrong with my 2500k?No OCing yet, I've only set my ram to 1866 mhz, and ram voltage to 1.5I just wanted to run the program to get a feel for current load temps, and it failed within 30 seconds of the stress test....Also, while looking at the graphs created by OCCT, it shows my vcore way up to like 1.4v.... I thought it was supposed to be at like 1.1 or something? Or is this just the speed step/turbo taking over?

Thought of creating another thread to compare the tweaked version of FSX. And please include the tweaks you did so we would know what type of tweak goes well with what type of system...and maybe some core temps too. Post Away!!!!! :Applause:

Currently, I have a Q9550 on an Asus P5E main board running on 8GB with an ATi 5780 GPU.I am looking to replace with:i-7-2600K on an Asus Sabertooth P67 (b3) with 8 GB and EVGA GTX580. Also considering water cooling with the Hydro H70. I am also planning on a SSD for the OS and WD Black for FS. My questions are... GTX570 vs. GTX580 , and the Sabertooth vs. P8P67 deluxe? I Have read the thread How to choose a Sandy Bridge Motherboard.I was planning on reusing my CM EVO 830 but the Corsair Obsidian is tempting - I like the cable management better on this. All in all I am trying to keep it under $2,000ThanksKevin

Hi Everyone,Okay So I have a pretty decent laptop, Its a DELL INSPIRON 1564, i5 M430 series , 2.27 ghz clock, 4GB ram, Win7+SP1 64bit , HD4330 ATI 512 mb Mobility series (With Catylst drivers from ATI)Well I had to unfortunately reformat my HDD after a corruption and lost most of my data on C: , i.e. FSX was installed on C . Now when I try to play FSX after reinstalling all the drivers, FSX works fine for the first 5 min at runs at 20-25 fps the after 5 minutes it drops to around 2.3-3 fps and the whole computer becomes laggy. Then if I force shut or terminate fsx.exe process , my laptop is just laggy and I have to restart it for it to become the normal state! Please help…

There seem to be a lot of variations of Sandy Bridge motherboards to choose from in the price category of maybe $150. I wondered if someone could help pick (personally I want to use a 2600K at as close to 5 Ghz as possible and maybe at least 1800 Mhz memory). I am showing listings from newegg and for now, just the ASUS brand:1) ASUS P8H67-M LX (REV 3.0) LGA 1155 Intel H67 SATA 6Gb/s Micro ATX Intel Motherboard $99 2) ASUS P8H67-M PRO/CSM (REV 3.0) LGA 1155 Intel H67 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard $1243) ASUS P8P67-M (REV 3.0) LGA 1155 Intel P67 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard $1294) ASUS P8H67-M EVO (REV 3.0) LGA 1155 Intel H67 HDMI SA…

Hello, I'm thinking of upgrading to a 2600K and I understand that I'll require a new motherboard, but am I able to stay with the memory I'm currently using? (Mushkin redline 1600@ 1.65v)I know that I would have to go from 6GB of memory to 4 since the mobo are dual channel. Any help would be appreciated.

So far assembling my new rig is going ok...This is my first time making a PC from ground up all alone. My first rig I had a friend who builds his own help me out.So please bear with me - I'm going very slow on this build. And I already have a few questions (with pictures yay!)1) I'm a little confused with the front panel headers on the mobo, and the (lack of) cabling coming from the case. First off there is no + or - label on the cables themselves, but it is labeled on the mobo. The cables are all black so I can't really tell which is positive and which is negative. However, on the back of the cables there is a tiny triangle (raised up) that points to one prong. Is th…

Hello,I am contemplating upgrades to my ancient PC, and with the restrictions that are placed on possible upgrades with my current motherboard, I am trying to find out what I might be able to upgrade without doing a total overhaul. I only use FS9 about 1x per month, so it certainly isn't worth it to me to spend hundreds of dollars on practically building a new system.Having said that, I am looking at possible CPU upgrades that might be able to fit in my current motherboard; namely the 939 socket CPU. Being that FS9 is a more CPU centric program, I figured a dual-core might provide significant boost in performance compared to the minimal cost of the CPU.Does anyone happe…

Installing the Seasonic 750 into the bottom of my corsair 650D case. Do I face the fan up (ie into the case, towards the mobo), or down? The reason I'm wondering is on the corsair case there's a small grill and filter than you can pull out the very bottom - this grill is directly beneath the PSU.At first glance I figured the psu fan would face into the case to suck air out - but perhaps if the fan faces down the psu will suck cooler air from the room into the psu, then out the back.A major factor is that my case will rest on the floor (carpeting), below my desk. It's not an option for me to put the case on a hardwood floor or desk.

Hey Guys,I have been researching all over the place to see if I can solve this problem I've got, but it seems to not want to go away. I've invested into a computer with the following specs.Amd Phenom II X4 905e Processor, MMX, 4CPU @ 2.5GHZ4gigs of ram GTX 460SE500gig hard drive700W MOD-X Stream PRO PSUI'm running nvidia inspector and have set up the settings to the following picture attached.I've maxed everything out in fs with frames locked to 33, and more times than not my frames hover around 20. It looks great, but performance isn't so great. The ironic part being that no matter how much i decrease the display settings (everything from scenery, to cloud coverage, to d…

I've finally decided to replace my sandy bridge mobo with a new revision one because of the cougar point issue. Is there any specific thing I should do. For example, do I need to uninstall the drivers for the old one before taking it out. Also, should I uninstall windows or would it be find if I simply took the old one out, put the new one in, and install drivers for the new one?

Good day,I have a decent desktop for FSX and addons, but I'll be away on business for a few months and am looking at replacing my current laptop as a result of my trip. I would like to get something capable of running at least FS9 fairly decently. Unfortunately I won't be able to afford a "high end" model. I'm looking at a Dell mainly due to a discount available. What are some specs etc. anyone could recommend to look at?ThanksGary

Hi all,I'm having trouble with the ever so relevant topic of having a small SSD dedicated to Windows and a larger HDD for data, programs and everything elseI've searched google and looked in all sorts of forums, but I still don't know..How do I get only Windows to be on the ssd, and put all other programs and files on the mechanical. Should I change the default installation drive for program files to the HDD by way of registry edit, although i heard it can be risky?Or is it just a matter of choosing a destination on the HDD when I install new programs (this is a brand new system so only Windows is installed.. on the ssd)I'm completely lost, if I install new programs (iTun…

Hope I'm in the right place this time, here's a picture of my newly built and compact Simpit, it's not finished yet as you can see but it is much closer to what I'm after in a generic Simpit, currently running two PCs but thinking of dropping one as it's only controlling the saitek panels, as long as running them on the main FS PC doesn't slow it down that is. Just sharing my creation.Hope you like it.CheersMartin.
