Hello all, About to embark on a new build for FSX. First a little History. Been a member for a long time, most of the time just a lurker, as I am not much of a poster. Been using FS since FS4, sub logic ATP, etc., this will be my about my 7th build, so am not quite a newbie builder.Current anticipated purchase, after much reviewing most of the posts on this site: MOBO- Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD4-B3CPU- Intel i5 2500KRAM- GSkill Sniper 8GB(2X4) DDR3 1600 CL7GPU- Evga GTX 580 Superclocked 1536 MBHD- 750 WD Caviar 7200 for OS 2X450GB WD Vrap for FSX and FS9Sound- OnboardCPU Cooler- Noctua NH-D14PSU-Corsair HX850 850WCase-Thermaltake Armour (from my previous E8400 OC'ed build)Windo…

Hi, I currently have my oveclockers check out showing £650 for the following items. I try to build the same system on the configurator, but i don't need a DVD drive, and the case i want is less so the configurator ends up showing £100 more for the build than if i buy individually! I tried calling to get a quote based on exactly what i had in my basket, and he said email him direct which i did but he has not got back. Am i asking a bit much to obtain the following items for under £650? (unless buying from the USA where the exact same items come to £550, minus import TAX) GTX560ti 1gb DDR5Asrock Z68 PRO3i5 2500k8gb Corsair Vengeance 1600Cooler master GX 750w PSUCooler maste…

Hi guys, Im currently thinking of getting the new AMD phenom II X4 980 3.7 ghz (read reviews it can OC to 4.3-4.5 ghz with the stock fan). Ive already got DDRR3 2X2 4gh memory, ATI DDR5 5770HD card. Will this be enough to run FSX with a few addons such as PMDG NGX REX and some good scenery. Looking for a good 30+ FPS Cheers, Tom

Hi, I recently purchased a new system that I thought would be able to power FS9 flawlessly. I was wrong. In fact, I had better results on my Q6600. I am at a loss. With everything maxed in FS9, I was getting 22-24 FPS dropping to 9-10 FPS while transitioning cloud layers. The visuals look very good and crisp. I have played with the settings for the video cards i.e. antialiasing etc. but I must add I'm more familiar with Nvidia products versus these AMD Radeon cards. Ironically, my wireless internet connection on this new computer is also very slow. It sits right next to the old system which still retains a very fast wireless internet connection. I would greatly appreciate…

Hello, Today I finally upgraded my PC but I'm having some trouble getting it to run properly. I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate x64 and ever since I read I could upgrade without installing everything again, I decided that this was the way I would be doing it... Before doing anything, I created images (in my WD external drive) of all my partitions using Acronis True Image. I then replaced my Asus P5W DH Deluxe with a P8Z68-V Pro.Replaced my Core 2 Quad Q6600 with an i7 2600K.Replaced my 4Gb GSkill Ram sticks with 3x4Gb Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600Mhz.Added a Corsair H80 cooling system.Replaced my old HDD with a new WD Black 1Tb SATA III HDD.Replaced my DVD reader with a an LG …

Dear all I built a new system 6 months ago; spec is i5 2500K, MSI P67 GD53, 4 gig of ram a 450psu plus my old BFG9800GTX+, W7 64 bit. I overclocked the system from the start, I was able to archive 4.6ghz @ 1.385v, I did try and get 4.8/4.9 with volts up to 1.44 but the system was unstable so I went back down to 4.6ghz. (I was using the Intel-burn test to check stability) at this time I was my problem may be my PSU not being up to the job .System has and still is running fine on CTD, no blue screen and no problem booting, but for some reason I went back and tried the Intel burn test again today and it failed with the system set up in the same way as it was 6 months ago. I…

Hello all, since I got myself an i7 2600k I am now ready for a little bit of overclocking. I just bought myself an "Noctua NH-D14" and now I was wondering if someone could give me some overclocking advice. I want my pc to turn at stable 4,5 GhZ, I hope anyone can help, oh and does turning of HT make any sense when overclocking, or shall it always be on if overclocking or not? Regards

Hi guys, About 9 months ago I finally was able to upgrade my old but trusty P4 computer. Back then I was on a tight budget and could spend more than 300$, so I upgrade my computer with the following components: -AMD Phenom II X2 565 (Unlocked to X4 and OC @ 3.8ghz)-Asus M4A89GTD/USB3 Pro-G-Skill Ripjaw DDR3-1333 (4x2ghz) Honestly, for 300$, this upgrade really delivers (delivered!). I was able to unlock the X2 cpu to a X4 using the motherboard core unlocker feature and overclock it to 4ghz on air with a coolermaster hyper 212+, but temp were still a bit high for my tastes so I went down to [email protected] and idling at 38c now, 45c full load. Back then, I used pretty much FS…

Dear all,Intel and other manufacturers might already know this stuff, but the rest of us have no statistical basis for our guesses. So I wonder whether it's worth clubbing together to pool our experiences? Personally I think it would be helpful to a lot of people overclocking their PCs to know more about the spread of possible risks, though it does depend on how many join in.Could I therefore ask you to cut & paste the following questionnaire and post to this thread with your answers? Later, if for any reason your CPU starts to go AWOL, you can post again to this thread to say so: perhaps over time, we'll built up a picture of the lifespan of different CPUs at various…

Just saw some benchmarks and it is not really worth buying, either 8150 or 8120. I5 2500k is the way to go. I don't know why AMDs are still in business.

Hi guys,as I have some problems with my stored 4.6 GHz OC profile (Blue screens) which had worked like a charm before I´d upgraded my PSU, I downclocked the CPU to 4.2 GHz via the multiplier leaving everything else like the profile. The performance satisfies me to a certain degree (Will the 400 additional MHz be worth fiddeling arround and noticable at all?) I wan´t to get the volts down a bit. CPU-Z give me an voltage of 1.368V while at 4.2. I remember that 4.6 with exactly the same settings only needed 1.344 - 1.350V. The offset voltage is at +0.070 as it had been in the profile. In which direction have I to change the offset to get them down a bit? Or should I try to …

OK. I followed the 'Clunk guide" to he letter and got a blue screen.System's brand new, followed NickN's guide to th letter and ran both Prime95 and Intel Burn test, which showed it to be stable.THe recommended solution was to ncrease the Vcore. My question is: How much? The recommenedettingsare 120 and I tried 1.30. Just don't know where to go with this. Other question is that I went back, put the BIOS back to where it was and selected the automatic OC feature and am running a stable 4.327, not. How much better am I going to do manually?ThanksDan ColeCPU:Intel Core i5-2500K Sandy Bridge 3.3GHzMOBO: ASUS P8Z68-V PRO LGA 1155PSU: CORSAIR Enthusiast Series TX750M 750W ATX12…

Hello, I don't know if something like this has been done in the forums before but maybe it would be a good way for others to find out if their CPU is running normally if someone else puts their's up. The idea came to me after I saw a Bulldozer 8 core at 5GHz score less than my 4 core 2500k at 4.8GHz. If anyone thinks we should use a different benchmarking software, please let me no. So here is how I think it should be set out: Eg: i5 2500k @ 4.8GHz 1.365VNo turbo boostScore=7.57 Really just your CPU, speed and everything that is important to performance and your score. And yes, that is mine.

I have great expectations for this CPU. Have seen customer reviews where it spontaneous is percieved as being somewhat faster than an i7 system and as good as a CPU released this y…

This is the system i have created. Am i good to click proceed? I believe all is ok, aside from the Case/PSU. They come bundled with some CPU cooling fan. My aim is to take the i5 2500k to about 4.5ghz, no more. I know stock fan won't give me this, will the one included in the case bundle achieve, or if not can you suggest one that will. Cheers guys and gals. Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Hi all, Taking my first steps into OC, and have a couple of questions... I've managed to get what seems to be a stable OC of my i7-870 in a fairly simple way: multiplier is locked at 22, BCLK at 150 and vcore at 1.35v, so a steady 3.3GHz. However I'd like a little bit more (3.8-4.0GHz) but am unsure how to proceed - I need to crank the BCLK value up but whenever I do (above 150) I get a very unstable system, which is unlikely even to boot. I'm aware that I need to change other values (memory voltage and timing?) as the BLCK increases but I'm not sure which so I thought I'd ask first. HT/Speedstep/C1E/Turbo all disabled. TIA!
