  1. Hello everyone. I'm Jhon, and I'd like to ask a few questions first, then hear (read) some recommendations. Here's the deal: I have a PC but right now I can't use it due to its PSU exploding and burning the MOBO with it, and it'll become 3 years old on November 15th, so I thought about buying a new PC rather than spending (and eventually wasting) more cash on my current one. Back in 2008 when my parents bought it, I had the (at the end FAKE, lol) illusion that with this PC I could run FSX maxed out, smooth as silk. Oh dear, how wrong I was! So, here are its specs: Processor: Intel Core2Quad 6600 @ 2.4 GHzMOBO (dead by now): Intel DG31PRVideo card: ATI (MSI) Radeon HD 4870…

  6. Hi Guys, After a bit of advice, I currently have a Intel Core 2 Duo E8600, 8800GT gfx, 2gig ram windows 7 32bit PC. I'm moving over from FS9 and i'd like to update a few of these components, probably the processor and gfx card. I don;t wanna spend more than about 300ish quid. My Mobo (Asus p5E) doesn't support the new Intel i range so what would you recommend to max out performance from my current hardware. I understand its nothing compared to some the new stuff but i'm limited a bit my funds. I want to run ASX, UTEurope, UT, REX/FE, PMDG 737NGX etc. Obviously i know i couldn;t run at full whack but at a respectable FPS Cheers Dan

Hi all, I think I may have hit the FSX sweet spot or is there still more to come?? I have recently upgraded from an AMD6400+ to and i5 2500K; I now have 4GB of DDR3-1600 and a coolermaster 212 cooler , It runs very well @ 4.6ghz @ 1.385volts ( passes Intel burn test, idle temps are about 42c) I still have my old 9800GTX+ in the system at the moment. I use 8xS AA mode in Nvida Inspector and run my fsx.cfg through www.venetubo.com. when flying the PMDG NGX I see about 27/30fps locked @ EGKK when doing circuits with UK2000 scenery + 25% traffic in UT-2 with most slider to the right iam very happy with this but I am stll think of upgrading my GPU, maybe a 560Ti sc or a 570.…

  8. Hi all, I just noticed that when running FSX, that only 2 cores are running at maximum capacity whereas the 2 other cores are running well below capacity, as opposed to all cores sharing the load equally (which I believe would give me a boost in performance) Please see attached screenshot. This is my fsx.CFG, please comment and let me know if I'm doing something wrong. All help is appreciated. Thanks in advance. // This file was tweaked on Jan 23, 2011 at 01:26 GMT using Bojote's automated FSX Tweaking & Tuning Service// Your 'original' fsx.CFG file was backed up at http://www.venetubo.com/fsx/f2cda79699eef2d7e6a2b2cd25b92684/backup/fsx_backup.cfg// This file is opti…

  9. Hi all.. Well finally back in the skies after a complete system re-installation..I have found a thing with win7 that annoys me a bit though it is not a crucial problem..Whenever I fly I use my headset to talk in the virtual world, be it those few times I fly online or talking to the AI ATC offline (just to keep the toungue in shape while flying)The problem is that if I activate the "Listen" feature for the microphone I am able to hear my own voice through the mic, only with an annoying 0.2 sec delay.. This makes it virtually impossible to communicate in any fluant language. I've googled quite a bit in the matter and found out that some soundcards (or motherboards) adds a …

Hi,Using Windows 7 Ult. Please list numbered steps to troubleshoot why my headset is not letting me TX to ATC on Vatsim? To assist, I am hearing ATC and MP3 files. I have a lot of ' Currently Unavailable ' listings on my devices in the playback devices window? In Device manager I have two listings under Audio Controllers....1 High Definition Audio Device and 2 My PCI addon SoundCard...should I disable the High Def if I want my soundcard to control all sound in and out? The headset is new a few weeks, but I doubt the cable jack has word sufficiently enough to fray any internal wires ( which happens with most headsets after a few months ) and I have the correct cable to…

  11. Hi All, I wanted to post these temps and get some input. I am using HWMonitor.I have been running prime95 large, small and Blend options for the last 24 hours.I am running at stock at about 3500mhz with 1.19-1.22 avg volts. Hyperthreading is off, but all other bios settings are default for now. All of my case fans and radiator fans are on a molex and not connected to the the MB with the exception of theH70 pump, which I put on the cpu_fan connector of the MB. The H70 pump was a 3 wire but the connection was a 4 wire so the left pin on the MB is not being used. I got somewhat confused on what fan went on what connector. I just decided to run all case and rad…

Hi. I've been OC'ing my cpu the last few days and was stopped at 4.5ghz and 1.31v before because my thermal paste I used was of sub quality. Now I've recieved some Noctua NT-H1 that comes heatsink and want to go further. At 4.8Ghz I pass Intel Burn Test (linpack) at max memory usage and HT on, but vcore is kinda high (1.415v) and temps sometimes reach 83, 82, 82 (core 1,2,3. core 0 is always a lot cooler). I then lowered the vcore to 1.395v and didn't have any bsod's but i failed at the fourth pass, temps reached 81 on one core a couple of times (realtemp max: 72, 79, 81, 79). I'm wondering what the max safe core temp is for an unrealistic test like IBT? Should i nudge up…

First post here in years!I started simming in '88 with Sublogic and monochrome! Converted to mac in 04 and am now using FSX, Xplane 9 on a Dell xps 210 with a 4550 video card. I'd like a new build, and, money is very tight. My presumption is that guven the age of fsx I can get something that ran it great 2 years ago, and that should be fine. Of course, I would prefer things to be upgradable for when I gave mSorry - post was ended prematurely... for when I have more $$$.Are there sources for used gaming systems? Should I build it - if so, how do I separate wgeat from chaff in terms of ruling in/out components? From what I read sp2 can use multi core and higher cpu cycles is…

Good day all, Well, new build here and here are the specs: ASUS P8Z68-V PRO Intel Z68 Motherboard Either i5 2500k or i7 2600k (haven't decided yet, but hopefully this won't matter in deciding what RAM I am going to purchase) I think those are the only pieces that we care about here. Basically, I need some help selecting RAM. I did a bit of research and wasn't quite able to find the answer but my apologies in advance if this is a duplicate thread (probably is!). How fast is fast enough for FSX? I understand that the lower the Cas Latency the better, I guess I am shooting for 7 or 8. Another question is, can I buy slower RAM, perhaps something like this http://www.newegg.c…

Hi all, I'm building a new PC that will hopefully last me for a few years to come & i'm thinking about two processors the Core i5 2500k or the Core i7 2600k. The main reason for my new PC, being a Windows7 64bit by the way will be to run the PMDG 737 NGX. Now my question is can i get away with using the Core i5 2500k without having to fork out for the Core i7 2600k & have max frame rates in FSX?

Iam going upgrade from a AMD6400+ BE with 4gb of pc6400 to a i5 2500+ with 4gb of pc16000 on a msi motherboard. The upgrade comes as a bundle already OC to 4.5ghz. But I am going to have to keep my BFG9800gtx+ for now. What sort FPS jump should I expect using the same settings? Thanks Mark

  25. I was using my computer (specs below) normally, when suddenly the power turned off. I couldn't power it up anymore. Something was clearly wrong. I started probing the components one by one. Changed the power supply, which didn't change anything. Tried another graphic card, which also didn't change anything. Then I went to get a new motherboard, as it seemed that it wouldn't turn on if the CPU EATX power cable was connected. After changing the motherboard, the power turns on, but the "CPU" LED on the motherboard lights up. I checked my processor installation again and everything was good, so I guess my 2600K just suddenly broke up on me! Now my question is, why do you guy…
