....from Tom's Hardware. first the ASRock Z68 Extreme 4 and now the ASRock Z68 Extreme 7 getting the thumbs up from Tom. The 4 is a great board for anyone looking, the 7 seems like expensive overkill to me. http://www.tomshardw...p-ud5,3025.html Mark.

Hey. I guess this is an update to my previous "2600k Max safe temp" thread I posted earlier. I settled for 4.7ghz for a while, but I just couldn't resist going for 4.8. Maybe it was because everyone else seems to be running that setting, or maybe because it's an even number ;) So anyway, with HT on, the temps were always a bit high for the vcore (1.415)I needed to run 4.8, but then I reseated the heatsink to make it blow in air from the side and push it out the side fan rather then down-up which I had previously run. The temperature decreased by a little bit and I seemed to be able to run prime95 without having my core temps reach 80c so I was quite satisfied. Now I've ru…

Hi allI received my new pc just last week. I have W7 64 bit set up on my 60gb SSD which is also my boot drive. All other programs and data is stored on 2 x internal drives and 2 x external drives.I spend the entire weekend loading up all my FSX scenery and testing it, tweaking etcToday, suddenly, the PC is not booting into Windows. The Bios has the SSD set as the 1st boot priority drive, as it should, and indeed therefore the Bios recognises the drive - why will it not boot up?How do I boot from my W7 installation disk? I have tried, but stopped at the point where it asked whether I wanted to continue with a W7 installation, in fear that I would wipe everything from my c:…

Hi all, I hope this is the correct forum for this question. If not Admin, please move this post. I have been putting up with an old Lexmark X5150 All-in-one, ink jet printer for several years now and it is no longer supported by Lexmark as far as new Windows 7 64 bit drivers are concerned. As a result, I am unable to print either the Navlogs generated by the default FSX flight planning tool or the flight plans generated by Plan G. When I click on the "print" key offered by the FSX navlog screen nothing happens. A check of the printer que shows nothing listed. I am guessing it is not a problem linked to FSX however it might be. When I attempt to print the "print previ…

Didn't really know where to post this, but guess here is pretty close... I'd be really grateful if any of you guys can help me with this... I'm trying to transfer some really good aircraft sounds I recorded (from Cassette) on a few prop flights I did some years back, to my PC. It's proving harder than I thought. I have an Asus Xonar PCI sound card installed, and the motherboard sound disabled. There's a Creative 2.1 sound system attached, with it's own 'line-in' socket on the volume control. If I plug-in the cassette deck to that, it plays the tape directly through the speakers, so I know the output is fine. When plugging in to the line-in on the sound card though, I ge…

Hello, I spoke about this a short time ago but I decided it would be so much nicer if I did not have to have a wire going from my speakers to the front of the case. As it says in the title the sound port does not work from the motherboard but works on the front of the case which is of course connected to the motherboard. Confuses me, anyone know the answer?

Morning, Ok, so sitting at the drawing board so to speak... Im after a new system, I would like to build it myself...never done it before so thought, why the hell not. Have been sitting on the sidelines of the FS world, since my last PC died on me, around 11 months ago, now the twitch is starting to stir again. Just after thoughts and opinions, advice, guidance, etc etc So far this is what I have on my this.... - i7 2600k Sandy Bridge (I see some of these listed as 'unlocked'... any difference to ones, which dont mention this?) - ASUS P8P67 PRO motherboard - GeForce GTX 580 1.5GB Graphic card - 8GB ( 2x4GB) Corsair Vengence 1600Mhz RAM - WD Caviar Black 1TB HD - …

Did somebody already compare a hexacore with a quadcore cpu in FSX?I have read that 6 cores should be better in loading scenery and autogen. Frames are not influenced logically with same GHz. I'm thinking about upgrading my pc with either Sandy Bridge CPU (don't really know if it's worth it for almost 800 Hz more from 4,2 GHz up to maybe 4,8 GHz with SB) or a hexacore, but with hexacore I will not be able to achieve 4,8 GHz.

Hi I am french, so excuse me for my bad english.I have changed my old CPU (phenom X4 955) by a new phenom X6 1100T. So FSX crashes at startup. I have re-installed Windows and FSX and it's the same thing. So I have do a last test, with desactivate 2 cores in the motherboard bios, and miracle, FSX runs !!!Do you think that is normal that FSX doesn't work with 6 cores under windows XP (SP3) ?I am very desapointed .Thanks for your responses.Fdd

I know this isn't a hardware question but this forum is fast at providing answers in regards to performance. In order for fsx not to be disturbed by the anti-virus, I was advised to turn it off while fsx is running. Does this mean just disabling the Resident Shield or the whole thing? My anti-virus allows me to disable the RS until I reboot manually, but it only allows me to disable all protection for max 15 mins.

I have been having terrible stutters/pause in FSX at approx 50 second intervals. I turned on monitoring through Perfmon and noticed there is a spike in the read activity on the HD around the same time the stutters/pause happen. Does anybody know if a 120GB SSD would eliminate the disk access delay (Perfmon spike) and improve smoothness in FSX? I have defragged with OO Defrag and applied several tweaks (all the important ones from Bojote, Nick, etc); my textures are crisp and otherwise the game is fairly smooth, even with FPS at 12-15. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. My specs:CPU: Intel, i7 920 @ 2.67ghz (CPUID indicates OC @ 3.917ghz)M…

First allow me to apologise if this has already been discovered and noted, but in case it hasn't, I feel I would like to draw it to peoples attention. OK, fellas, this is for all the poor souls who may have been like me and spent weeks trying to get this software to function correctly, but with absolutely no joy whatsoever. I decided over the weekend to try for the seventh time to try and get it going, as I have just got my hands on TrackIR5. I decided to start with an absolute clean download and install. Once installed I followed the videos on the 'other' forum to the letter. Yep, I thought this will work, then as before damn, damn, damn I shouted, well I shouted somethi…

I have a PC dedicated to FSX only on Win7 64Bit. My motherboard is X58A-UD3R, i7 950 CPU and my current ram is Corsair 1600MHz 7-8-7 (3x2GB) DDR3 triple chanel. I am also using a 30" monitor (2560 x 1600 pixels) 1. Will 12MB make a diffrence in FSX (with Orbx scenery and REX) ?2. If so, should I just double my current 1600MHz ram?3. Or, should I step up to 2000Mhz? I am considering the Corsair Dominator 2000Mhz 9-10-9 (3x4GB) or two of the Corsair Dominator 2000Mhz 8-9-8 (3x2GB) kits. As the latter choice is more costly, will the lower latency make any diffrence (to the human eye)? Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Hi I am almost quite near the process of overclocking since the machine is more or less built. Should I install windows and after that FSX and addons as well as prime95 and so on, and after that I can overclock the system, or FSX and addons comes after overclocking and stress tests? harpsi
