This would be the second time this has happened while running fsx. I will post a screenshot. It appears to be a memory issue or graphic issue. The first time this happened I switched out video cards. Now its happening again. Overheating? I dont think so, the video card doesnt exceed 55C underload in fsx according to Hardware Monitor. Ram? the game runs capped at 3.8GB hasnt crossed the 4.0GB limit. Once this happened I went in to reduce settings, this did not fix the issue, it made it worse. The simulator turned black, but it was still running. Before that the water was gray and the terrain was very low detail. This picture below shows where the problems started. Notice …

I'm toying w/ upgrading either to SB or IB system from my C2D Quad at 3.8Ghz on air cooling. I have always been able to realize 26-30% overclock using C2D w/ just air alone.I am imagining quietness is one reason for water cooling. But the primary reason for me would be to improve overclocking capacity. Assuming 26-30% on air alone, what can I expect from water cooling, all else being equal?RE: 'Safe' vCore . . . My comfort level for overvolting the CPU is to keep it within the 'functional operational limits' of the CPU. In the case of my Q9650, I read this as 1.3625v from the data sheet. I may be misinterpreting this value which is listed on the data sheet's 'Curr…

Hello,I am thinking of going down the line of some proper watercooling to replace my H60. I have decided to go for one of XSPC's range of kits which save you close to $100 in Australia. I am thinking of going for the RS360 kit but am wondering if it would be worth going for a RX240 instead. If its just a little difference and the RX240 is better, I would go for the RS360 just cos it looks better However, if it is significant, i will choose the RX240. I was also wondering if I need to be buying any coolant or can I just use some water. Secondly, should I be purchasing any addon fans because I have seen no specs for these fans and was wondering if they would be any good. …

Hello,I have upgraded my computer this summer in order to run the PMDG 737 NGX even at addon airport a decent framerate. I can lock my flightsim at 40 frames per sec and it all runs more or less fluid, except for the NGX.These are my computer specs:ASUS P8P67 PRO Rev 3.1Intel i5 2500k @ 4.5 GHzCorsiar Venegance 8 (2x4) GB RAMEVGA GTX 560Ti 2GBCorsair A70 CoolerWestern Digital 1TB Black CaviarThe only device I didn't change was my Corsair HX520W PSU. My system runs quite stable - I used a conservative way to overclock my i5 - but I do wonder if a better PSU could be my bottle neck, if this makes logical sense at all?Only the PMDG 737 NGX Virutal Cockpit plus addon scenery …

I'm fairly sure at least some others have experienced the brief hang/stutter when certain sound files load initially off of a HDD. This issue does not occur again when the same .wav file plays, suggesting to me the file has already been loaded into memory. This is present more often for me when the situation (plane/scenery/weather) is pushing the machine harder. Can anyone comment on whether or not moving to an SSD for FSX reduced or eliminated this issue? Thanks in advance!Noel

I want to create a RAID 0 in W7 Ultimate 64bit.I have three 300GB VRaps running.C:\OS and private foldersF:\FSXG:\ORBX,OZx,OZX_WorldUnfortunately i cannot afford a 600GB VRap,so i thought i do the following.First i copy FSX completely to an external drive. Then i create a RAID 0 with F: and G:Copy FSX from the external drive back to the new RAID 0.Will this work without doing a new installation of FSX?This is of course a Software RAID and i know the opinions about that.Thank youMichael

I think I know how to do this but it's not my specialty. I have Acronis home plus. In order to move everythingfrom my 128GB SSD would I just use Acronis to backup the 128GB and then use an Acronis startup diskto restore the backup\image to the bigger SSD?What about programs that rely on "hardware" id for licensing?Or would it be more feasible to just move only FSX to the bigger SSD.?Wouldn't there still be problems for programs\addons such as aircraft.?There is that pesky registry. If I remove FSX from my "C" drive I regain ~75GBsof space. Right now I have 28GBs remaining.1) move all of my current "C" to a bigger SSD2) move only FSX to the bigger SSD3 just reinstall FSX …

My current system has started to get problems with hangups and failed boots. According to the event viewer there is an event 11 incident. According to MS this is most likely due to a problem with harddrive. So it seems I need a new harddrive. What is my best options?First the most evident performence problem I have is with blurries. So I find getting a SSD drive sensible. My impression is that 120 Gb is the best size to choose since 60 Gb is to little for both Win 7 and FSX+addons. In addition to this SSD I'm going to need a mechanical drive since 120 Gb is to little for everything. Keeping cost down is important. My systemMSI KA780G (MS 7551) moboAMD Phenom II 965BE 3.4 …

Hi Guys, first time post, long time avsim/msfs fan, (sorry if this post is in the wrong area, first time posting in any sort of forum..so please bear with me)i installed FSX + acceleration pack and also installed PMDG 744 with orbx australian scenery and my pc struggles to play it within bearable framerates (my guess would be about 11-15fps, most settings on normal). I honestly thought my system would have been good enough, but obviously not.. any one got any reasons as to why my system cant play fsx (i can play crysis with fairly high graphics settings bear in mind) and most importantly, any tips to make my FSX more like a game and not like a slideshow?my specs:amd pheno…

I'm on the fence on this decision and was hoping someone might have a guess or better on what sort of increase in frame rate alone I could expect by making this change in CPU/mainboard/new GPU over my current machine. I'm asking about frame rate alone as a parameter of raw processing power, and am less interested in other elements of performance such as freedom from stuttering or image quality/image update rate. Just trying to get an idea if the upgrade will be worth the money and effort. If I am maxed out at say 18 fps w/ a fairly difficult scenario on my machine, what should I expect from a SB processor at 4.5Ghz w/ a suitable upgrade in video card? I'm using a 1680…

Hello,I'm considering purchasing a new system. After a little research I have found the following on the internet. I would appreciate your thoughts as to how FS2004 would perform - I would hope that I would be able to run FS9 pretty much maxed out.I have no interest in running FSX but may consider Flight if and when it's eventually released. I know there is no such thing as 'future proof' in terms of IT but would welcome your views on potential performance if such an estimate can be made given information available.http://www.aria.co.uk/Systems/Gaming+Range/Gladiator/Gladiator+Evolution+H20+Intel+Core+i7-2600K+3.40GHz+%40+4.60GHz+DDR3+Gaming+PC+?productId=46343&rqcTyp…

Dear allI identified and am poised to buy the following as a potential purchase to hopefully run FSX smoothly in 3DI'm more into eye candy than technical realism but when I tried running FSX in anaglyph 3D my 4 year old PC couldn't cope.I am now addicted to using FSX in 3D mode - hence the upgrade. I'm also getting the Nvidia 3D Vision bundle and a BenQ 3D monitor. The specs below are advertised at a very competitive price but can be configuredCPU: Intel Core i7 2600K @ 5Ghz CPU Cooler: Corsair H60 Water Cooler Operating System: Microsoft® Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit Motherboard: Gigabyte Z68X-UD5 Memory: 16.0GB Corsair 1600mhz Vengeance (4x 4GB…

Hi guys, I am hooked on FSX, my computer is not. Currently I have an Asus m2a-vm mb, Phenom 9750 quad core, nvidia geforce/nforce 630a, 750 watt cps and 4 gigs of ddr2 800 ram. I have downloaded and installed the cfg from Bojote. If I put about 4 or 5 hundred into it, what would give me the best bang for the buck?ThanksTerry

After months and months of running a very stable system, my computer is now freezing every 10 minutes. Its not a blue screen just a complete freeze, no mouse, no keyboard, no CTRL ALT DEL, only turning off the power works to restore the system.I noticed this happening when I purchased my new Logitech G930 wireless headset and installed the Logitech drivers. As I run two computers when flying on Vatsim, I have the G930 on the other computer and no problem but when its on my FS System for controlling I am getting these very annoying freezes. This is a problem also reported on the Logitech support forums.I have since uninstalled the Logitech drivers, removed the USB conn…

So I have an apple SSD in my pc scavenged from a previous mbp upgrade and I'm pretty sure it doesn't support autotrim. (I'm suspecting apple's version of the firmware would be osx-specific)Earlier today I discovered that o&o defrag allows me to schedule TRIM commands to that SSD. How often would you guys recommend I set it to do that? Weekly? Monthly?Win7 is on a conventional hd & the SSD will be used only for fsx+addons, so there won't be much going on besides the occasional addon install/version upgrade.
