I haven't used FSx for about 18 months now. Up until then I had a Duo Core 6600 CPU with 2 Gig Ram and and old ATI x800 AGP vid card. I used that happily for quite some time. Now I have an Intel I3-540 , 4 gig Ram - but at this time no Vid card. Whilst not the fastest CPU around now, it is still much faster than my old 6600 and will give me satisfactory performance with a suitable vid card. . Could anybody advise what vid card would be suitable to match this CPU.Thanks Barry

This looks very interesting. From what I gather, it should load FSX faster than an SSD would. Is this correct?

I have read on support forum for vertex SSD that you should never fill you SSD more than 80%. I wonder why? What problem can I expect if filling it more? How much do you fill your SSDs?

. . . and every program I use one drive, creating a 2nd partition on it for another OS installation. This sounds to me like much easier to manage file system than having things on the 4 HDDs I am using now. Please let me know if there are any downsides to using only one larger drive. I would end up keeping data only on a 2nd HDD since . . . I have so many of them ;o)Thanks in advance!Noel

Folks, I'm a little mystified by what's going on. Some time ago I was running a Dell XGS computer with a 3.6 GB Pentium, 2 GB of RAM, and a 7500 rmp hard drive. FSX had some jittery little stutters in turns, and the frame rate slowed a lot in heavily populated areas. But it was enjoyably flyable.I'm now running the ASUS P-67 Sabretooth mobo @ 3.42 Ghz with a core - i7-2600K cpu, 6 GB of fast RAM, and a 10K rmp hard drive. The sim is almost unflyable. The "stutters" are more like pauses. It is almost impossible to line up with the runway, or even fly with any precision at all. I have the sim on a hard drive by itself, and all of the sliders down to minimum. Not muc…

HI everybody,For the past two days I've been looking at getting on board the SB waggon and so far I've found out that I only need a new CPU and Motherboard. The CPU part is easy because FSX doesn't support HT and I use no applications that supports this. So with that established I will go for the Intel i5 2500kNow here comes the bit I've been strugling with. The right choice of motherboard. Right now it's just a sea of PCB, transistors, endless acronyms all coated in bright/vivid colours. (doesn't this remind you of Lego?) Of course some manufactures paint theirs in a military colour. Maybe so you can hide it in the bush; I don't know.I have been looking at what people in…

I currently have Windows 7 64, MS Office and other junk on a 64 MB SSD and FSx, FS9 and all the addons on a 1TB WD Black HD. I'm about to come into possession of a 128MB SSD as well and I want to leave the OS SSD alone, but install FSX, FS9 and all my addon aircraft on the 128, keeping GEX, UTS, Scenery Tech, FS Global, UT, RC, etc and the WD drive. Will it be necessary to reinstall the OS when I do this? I'm thinking of all the registry entries that'll be messed up when I move this stuff around. Second, I know you don't format an SSD, but how do you get a clean one--just erase it?ThanksDan Cole
