Hi guys.It all started here:http://forum.avsim.n...__fromsearch__1Now just got a call from the vendor, saying that due to my motherboard, he could not OC the damn thing. He advises against upgrading to any new CPU, as I would not benefit of more FPS. He advised re-install Win and FSX for better performance - how little he know! (I run a tight ship with regards to win and FSX - Ultimate defrag regulary, and do not use the machine to anything else).I turned to another vendor, and have my eyes on this: Intel® Core i5-2500K Processor, Socket-LGA1155, Quad Core, 3.3Ghz, 6MB, 95W, Boxed w/fan This to go with a new motherboard that fits. Otherwise my system spec are not altered …

Hi there.Look at this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N9yZqcT4VCs&feature=youtu.beAccording to CoolerMaster, the Hyper 212 plus' fan should be going towards the front of the PC case. The problem is, my Corsair Vengeance memory is too big, and in order for it to be on the blue slot (according to MSI, the blue slot is the "primary" slot for memory, but putting the memory on the black slot should not cause problems) the fan has to be pointing towards the back of the case. Could this be dangerous? Thanks.

Hi guys,Over the past couple weeks I've researched and put together a list of components I will be ordering within the next week or two. You're thinking this oughta be good.... right? This guy doesn't know what he's doing.......My last system build was done at the time when the 3700+ AMD just came out, and it was the new talk....... that was a few years ago... So I've had some catching up to do, but I think I've narrowed it down... I'm just wondering what the general feedback is from fellow simmers on this system... I think it should do OK, I don't really play a lot of MSFS anymore due to my outdated rig, but I will use this computer for a variety of different games. Her…

Today I received an ad from newegg and they were offering what looks like the same ram I have except in 2x4gb instead of the 2x2gb. It seems like a good deal but was wondering a few things. Here is the ram they are offering 20% offhttp://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231314&nm_mc=EMC-IGNEFL122711&cm_mmc=EMC-IGNEFL122711-_-EMC-122711-Index-_-DesktopMemory-_-20231314-L0EHere is my current ramhttp://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231277From what I can tell it seems my ram is on the lower end of the spectrum. 1.) Is it worth upgrading to anything over 4gb of ramif yes2.) Should I get this 8gb of ram or find better and faster ram…

My old system 9 P6X58D-E) quit unexpectedly a few days ago. I will soon have a new mobo/CPU (P8P67 Pro) and assume I will need to reinstall Windows 7 (64). My old C: drive has plenty of space left after the original Win 7 install, and I'm wondering if I can install a new instance of Windows 7 on the same hard drive, as well as preserving some of the files I have on there (not erasing the original Windows install). If this is possible, how do I manage the two instances of Windows 7 on the same hard drive? Will this produce a "multi-boot" configuration? I will never need to run the original instance of the OS but would like to access some of the files if possible. Thanks,…

I have a new PC case and have just migrated everything from my old case to the new one- there have been no hardware changes at all and everything is plugged into the mobo exactly as it was before (including front panel USB's, HDD's and CDROM. The only change is that there is no 4-wire case speaker wire on my new case, so this is the only thing that is not connected that as in the old case.Obviously I can't hear any speaker beeps, but I am getting nothing at all out of the video that indicates that the system has even begun the POST sequence. Is this an issue by not having the 4-wire case speaker attached to the mobo- does the system need that to get to POST? (Previ…

Hi, I am thinking of buying a 60gb SSD, which I will install FSX & other addons onto. SSD's are quite expensive so I have a couple of questions before I shell out £70 to buy one.1. Which areas of FSX will I see a performance gain and by how much?2. Will I be able to leave my OS and all other files on my HDD, and install FSX on the SSD without any problems? Thanks in advance :im Not Worthy:(Specs):Windows 7 64-bitASUS V-P8H61EIntel Core I7 2600k @ 3.4GHzATI Radeon HD 57708GB RAM1 TB HDD 7200RPM

As noted further down in this forum, I tried to change PC cases over the Holiday weekend to get more cooling and to try a water cooling solution (I was only changing the case when this occurred, not the CPU cooling), but somewhere in changing the mobo/CPU/Memory, PSU, etc. to a new case I seemed to have broken something, as I cannot even POST now. This was an older P6X58D-E.So, now I have a new P8P67 Pro Rev3 mobo on order with an i7-2600 that will at least get me started into the Sandy Bridge world. My question- the P6X58D-E has Kingston Hyper X DDR3 (3 sticks X 2GB = 6GB). This is rated at 1.65 volts. It seems looking at the P8P67 manual that the memory used there…

Hi guys,I´m currently suffering from something very strage: The RAM is used almost 100% and the CPU is hovering at about 10% usage but it is jumping between 4.2 and 1.6 GHz. I´m doing nothing more than play a bit music and use IE. Also the Task Manager shows nothing which could cause that RAM usage. Does someone know what´s causing this?

Hi guys, after a long time of GA flying I slowly get involved in commercial flying again. I´m currently using the CS C-130 and the 727-100 and soon the NGX. you can see my spec´s down im my signature. I think it´s a pretty powerful system now and I should have no problem flying FSX. But I´m just on my 727 maiden flight and encountered only 10 FPS upon take-off in KPDX. This ain´t enough and thus I´m thinking of oc´ing my CPU a bit more. Would an possible oc to arround 4.5 - 4.6 GHz worth it?

Well I thought it was stable I was wrong..because when I restarted the computer I received a "Overclocking Failed" Message from ASUS. Im still trying to figure out out to get a stable overclock, what to change and what to leave the same. Besides changing the clock speed and vcore (which I cant figure out a good level). Is there a set parameter to follow?

I am currently considering upgrading the CPU on my PC with a socket 775 motherboard from a 3.0Ghz Dual core CPU to a QUAD core CPU in an attempt to get higher frames per second using Flight Simulator X.I have checked www.cpubenchmark.net for the benchmark tests for the existing CPU (E6850 3.0 Ghz 4Mb L2 cache) and also a possible quad core cup (Q8300 2.5Ghz 4Mb L2 cache) and note the following 'passmark' values -E6850 1926Q8300 3550Does this mean that the Q8300 generally is at least 50% faster than the E6850? Would I get a noticeable higher frame rate with the Q8300?Is FSX CPU intensive and it is better to spend more on the CPU than have a very fast video card (I have a G…

Why not post our various FSX performance results, synthetic benchmarks and/or stress test results on this forum so that we can know how particular hardware combinations work together. I guess I'll go first, so here goes: Here are the PASSMARK performance statistics of this particular i7 2600K CPU (batch L041B204) stabilized at 5.0Ghz with hyperthreading, as recorded by PassMark. The hardware also includes a 580 GTX @ 900MHz, 8g of Mushkin 1600 6-8-6-24 RAM, 2x120g G.Skill 120 SSD (non RAID) on a ASUS P8P67 Deluxe MB. All equipment is air-cooled with CPU temps in mid 60C and GPU at + or - 50C.Click here for the PassMark Website:PASSMARK SOFTWAREPassmark testing results of …

Hi there,Well its the question I bet many of you have been asking ans so I spent my afternoon and evening trying to find an answer and came out with some results. To test this, if you haven't read my other thread, I ran three instances of FSXMark11 at each speed. It wasn't a vanilla install of FSX but it shouldn't matter because I was running against my own results. So here are my results:As you can see there isn't really that much of an increase at all with it been between around 4FPS for 800MHz, not very impressive. I didn't go up to 4.9 or 5 due to heat reasons but maybe I will try one day. The settings are the ones used for FSXMark11 and on top of that are 8xS AA, 2x …

Hei. I am wondering what would be fastest of these two alternatives:1) Two SSDs in Raid 0 configuration or2) Two SSDs with no RAID attatched to two separate 6 G/s controllers.I have a Asus Maximus IV Extreme-Z MB with both Intel and Marvel 6 G/s controllers. The reason I'm asking is that I use a very heavy Flight Simulator setup with over 300GB worth of files and I am wondering if reading system/aircraft files from one SSD and scenery from another would improve performance over having it all on one RAID 0 volume. Thanks!
