Hi,I am currently using an Intel E5700 with a G41MT-S2P board. I bought the kit new of Ebay and its clocked to 4GHZ. My GPU is a GTX 570 and i power 2 24" monitors in VC view. Over the past while ive noticed my machine struggling a bit in dense airports such as FSdreamteam or Simmer sky addons. I use FS9 with a sliders maxed and have REX,GE PRO,TOPCAT and Radar contact all running as well. The ac i use are PMDG and others like it. My monitors are set up as 2 VC views (kinda like a wrap around captains side) this is what is causing the issue, if i change to one VC view and the other monitor to overhead or something like that i have no hit on FPS at all. I really want to ke…

Hello fellow simmers and "Happy New Year"....!So I have two systems and decided to give FSX it's own dedicated 256GB SSD. This is a road I have not traveled down before in system configuration. It sounds easy but every time I say that to myself I end up exhausting a bottle of Advil in pain management...lol I will have windows 7 64bit on a 160GB SSD.So when I install FSX on it's dedicated drive can I just add all programs related to FSX to that drive? Example, TrackIR, UT2, Scenery, etc? Any advice is greatly appreciated... I hope you and your families have a safe and wonderful New Years....! Thanks Again!

My computer died for the 3rd time. in 3 years. 2 EVGA 780i MBs and now a Asus P5N-T Deluxe nForce 780i 775 socket.I checked the ps by jumping the green and black wire and got power. Plugged it back into the MB and nothing. When I turn on the computer nothing happens. I have a lot of money invested in other parts but can't find a good MB. I have 4dinns of Corsair ram(8gb) A EVGS 480 1gb video card, 850watt ps and a Soundblaster card. Anyone know where i can get a good MB?email me at [email protected] if you can help me with any other troubleshooting. Thanks,Greg

I currently have an i7 2600k turbo'd at 3.5 GHz. I use my PC for work as well and I don't want to overclock a PC that I do my work on. I already have a GTX 580 video card, so my video card is way more than enough for FSX at 1080p. If I upgraded to an i7 3930k would I lose performance in FSX since the 3930k is 200 MHz slower even if it has more L3 cache and more RAM bandwidth than the 2600k?

It's currently running XP with SP2 but I do have a copy of windows 7 I can load onto it.Looking at iFly's 737 with FS2crew it says:System Requirements:Flight Simulator X w/Service Pack 2 (SP2)2.6 Mhz Quad-Core Processor2 GB of disk space4GB RAM512 MB Video CardWindows XP / Vista / Win7Looks like I'm …

Hi all,I'm building a new rig and plan on using an SRT setup for hard drive caching. Trying to figure out which SSD I should go with to give me the best performance.Should I go with the Intel 311 Series 20GB? This one was developed by Intel specifically for use with SRT, and is one of the few that uses SLC NAND memory (which is supposed to be faster and longer-lasting than the MLC NAND used by most SSDs). However, I don't even see this drive listed on Newegg anymore (although it is on Amazon and elsewhere), and a larger-capacity drive (say, 40 or 60GB) would result in fewer files being booted out of the cache after non-use, correct? Cheers,Scott

HiAfter browsing this forum and others I'm think I'm ready to specify my new FSX pc. I've been through a few over the years and I know nothing is future-proof but this one will have to last a long time! There are a number of online UK companies offering a custom build approach with similar prices. Can anyone recommend a good reliable outfit from personal experience?CheersChris

I prefer dedicated sound cards to onboard not necessarily for quality but to move the sound processing to a separate chip. I usually had something in the X-Fi Extreme range... Recently my Creative has been giving me nothing but trouble on my XP64 machine. Optical out only working randomly... I tried drivers, uninstalling, re-installing but no matter what i did it was 50/50 if it would work on boot. (win 7 had no issues mind you...)So I finally decided to uninstall my Creative Card and spent 90 minutes uninstalling the drivers from all SEVEN of my boot options LMAO!@! I th…

After a series of ntdll.dll crashes, I set my Corsair vengeance 8gb 1600mhz, down to 1333 mhz, had another ntdll.dll crash, and has now put it down to 1066Mhz.In 1600 mhz I ran memtest, which detected 1 error. After downgrading to 1333mhz memtest could not find the error again, but still its no good that an error occured in the first place.Question now is, should i buy new RAM or not? And, after reading about boot failures due to new RAM installed, I feel like not doing it.. oh the agony!

  21. Hey all,So i look out the side window of my ngx, and my photoscenery is not completely smooth. It jumps a bit from time to time. I dont like it. I want it glass-smooth. I need more, newer, shinier hardware.I suspect im talking about gear that's not invented yet, but im interested in where the bottleneck is that is causing the performance to be less than perfect. To clarify: i have what was considered a ninja system when i built it a year ago, an i7 with decent overclock. My system is tuned to the max. Im doing all the clever things with cfg files and external frame limiters that can be done. I'm running over a terabyte of photoscenery, and the stuff i want perfect smoothne…

FIrst post - I was drawn to this forum when looking at building a new PC, mainly for running FSX. The FSXMark11 and Pictures of our FSX Computers are both interesting and informative in this respect. So, for a while now I have been wanting to upgrade my old 2004 PC (AMD Athlon64 3700+ I think) to a new one, which should be able to provide a much improved experience with FSX.I had my mind set on the i7 2700k, but after reading this post which suggests that the 3930k runs circles around the 2700k, I am confused. So now I basically have 2 options regarding the core:Option1:CPU: i7-2700k (4 cores, socket 1155)Mobo: ASUS Maximus IV Extreme-ZRAM: no idea - please adviseOption2:C…
