I have my fsx rig as per specs below and i have my other PC which i use for 3D Graghics and other misc. video games. Basically in my 3D graphics PC i have a i7-950 with 2 x GTX460 in SLI and am using a OCZ ZX Series fully modular 80Plus Gold 850W PSU.My question is, should i swap these PSUs being as 1000W would be better for the two graphics cards and the higher quality OCZ PSU is all i need for my one GTX560Ti?Would like your opinions. Thanks,

I have a Dell Studio XPS 8100 ( see specs below, snapshot from speccy). The Core i7-860 is restricted to 2.8GHz because DELL have locked everything down. The only way to break free of this is to upgrade the M/B and buy a decent Heatsink/Fan for overclocking. I am currently working out prices for a new rig to run FSX having been meaning to make the switch from FS9 for a while now. I have come up with the following list of parts and wonder if they are good or is there anything I don't need that I could save on.One important thing is that with the prices of HDDs going up massively due to the Thailand floods I have been strongly recommended to look at SSD drives instead of HDDs. From the list above I could substitute the HDD in the list with an SDD. The thing is I am not sure what size I would need to get for FSX as I would obviously plan to add quite a bit of payware to it over the next years and I have no idea how large the fil…

Hi Guys,Im looking at buying a new PC and before I melt my credit card I just wanted to check (as my knowledge on the subject is mediocre at best!) if the specs were suitable.I am looking at running FSX with PMDG's latest products and a copy of Radar Contact. Here is the machine:http://www.novatech.co.uk/pc/range/irushpro.htmlI can't really stretch my budget any further as I'm getting a yoke and monitor too!I was told though, that FSX runs better with nvidea cards, so I was thinking of asking them to swap the ATI card with an nvidea one. Any benefit in this do you think? Thanks for your opinions!Richard

I see my processing speed goes up to 50% and up to 90% usage and it shutters alot. I have mostly default scenery and some third party scenery. I am running REX and I found that I get better performance while running REX. I don't have the settings up that high. Even thought my pc isn't that slow. Hi,Just looking for some input into this problem please...It's fair to say that since being built my PC regularly suffers from blue screens / lockups. I've learnt to live with it.I once borrowed an nVidia card (can't remember specs) but during testing (approx 2 weeks) problems were never encountered. However this was when I was running XP. Strangely after testing the nVidia and reinstalling the ATI, the problems became liveable (i.e. not very frequent). The release of the new 737 has made my problems slightly worse. Now, to be very clear, I am not saying there is anything wrong with the 737 - I suspect the load it places on my machine, stresses the machine. Again, not a fa…

This CPU s installed on an Asus P6-X58D-E board. I would like to start over-clocking it and currently have the Intel stock cooler fitted. Does anyone have a suggestion for a good after-market air cooler for this CPU/Mobo combination? I've looked on the web and see quite a few but am not sure which is the best way to go...Thanks for any answers. Bruce.

Hey guys, after looking on Google, i cant find a straight answer. Is it possible to run SLi on a Crossfire motherboard? Here is the link: http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=7265659&sku=B450-2425 I am looking at it mainly for Overclocking, but would be nice to be able to get dual nVidia GPU's. Thanks guys :)

I have noticed very brief pauses on occasion when some .wav files play, for example ATC related files, sometimes. Anyone know what sorts of optimizations could improve on this? Is it a combination of a drive access plus bringing up the driver which makes the sound file play? How much of this might be attributed to drive access part of that? I ask because I notice when this occurs, if the same .wav file plays again during a session, there is no pause, which makes me lean towards drive access as a bigger player, and then makes me wonder if an SSD might improve on this.Noel

Does anyone think it is possible or realistic to think one could build a new system that would run FSX reasonably well for $1000.00 (US) or less?My 6 year old 64X2 4200 has finally bit the dust and I need to build a new system. This would be the MOBO, CPU, Memory, PSU, Vid card, HDD, and Op system only. I can use my monitor and keyboard from the old system.I'm not real concerned about OC'ing at this time so that isn't a deciding factor. As a matter of fact my old system ran FSX fairly well.Though, not at the level some of you guys run.:)Thanks for your input.Rick

I've been going back and forth in my mind regarding the actual benefit of getting a SSD and would appreciate your advice. I have asked before regarding a slightly different issue, but please bear with me here! So, I'm considering a Corsair F120GT which is a SATA6 disc and I already have a VRap 300GB. I've ordered a Asus P8Z68-V Pro Gen3 mobo, a i5 2500 CPU and a Corsair H80 cooler. IF I ordered the SSD I would only put Win7 64bit there and everything FSX and FS9 related on the Vrap simply because sooner or later I'd run out of space if I'd put everything on the SSD (I'm sticking with both sims). At this point I can't afford a bigger SSD either.I'll only use this computer …

Hey Just found this pc looking through a flyer. Windows 7 included 4gb DDR3 ram and an intel celeron g530 processor. I can add more ram quickly. Is this enough to get good performance on fsx? I don't know much about the G530. I have enough money to upgrade to a nice video card etc. Will i need to upgrade the cooling system? On sale for $399. Any help appreciated Thanks lee Edit: how do I overclock anyway? I won't have enough GHz will I?

Hi folks, i noe that this question has been asked a couple of times, but I have not found an answer for my case. Here are my specs:Compaq Persiaro 5680CFIntel Core 2 Quad Q8200 @ 2.33ghzNvidia GeForece 9500GSWhat im afraid of is that the heat generated may overheat the system, and also my case is black colour which absorbs heat. Since it is a manefacturer build PC, I dont think there is anyway of including another fan into the system...Cheers,Austin
