Last fourdays I am trying the solve this problem. During the installation I keep getting highlighted Disk drive (D:\) as destination drive. AS you see D:\ has no space for 4.5GB installation. I want to change destination to F or C drive. What ever I clicked no way I can move highlight to other destination drives. http://imageshack.us...660/rexinst.jpg Will you please advise how I solve this problem . Thanks

  2. Hi All: Does anyone out there have experience with Corsair's latest offering; Corsair Dominator Platinum 1866MHz DDR3: http://www.neoseeker.com/Articles/Hardware/Reviews/corsair_dominator_platinum_ddr3_1866_16gb/ I am considering installing this memory to work along with my i7 2700k, on a Maximus V GENE motherboard. Would this be a good 'fit'? I would like to keep the voltage @ 1.5 V. Other recommendations maybe? Thanks and regards, ap.

i7-3770k stable at 4.6Ghz.@ 1.22v. Passes IBT at max stress level without a hiccup or CPU throttling. Once I test with Prime95, it will throttle down to 3.5Ghz during the test. I don't think it's temperature related because the temps are around 60-70C (Core Temp) during the test. I get a higher temp reading during IBT (70-80C). Any adjustment to Vcore either way results in either BSOD or crash in both IBT and Prime95 or just very unstable. I have a feeling I have a bad CPU or about to go bad. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Hi everyone, I just upgraded my thermal paste on my CPU due to higher than average temps. - I was using some really cheap latex based Cooler Master paste. Today I just upgraded to IC Diamond paste (as per SpiritFlyer's recommendation). My temps have dropped by 6-8Celcius on load! Temps are now in the high 50s under max stress in P95. Thanks Stephen!

Hi All I'm toying with the idea of upgrading my PC to deal with FSX better and was looking for a bit of advice on where to start! Most likely this will need to happen bit by bit, as cashflow permits, as much as I'd love to do it all now! To give a bit of background - my PC was built by a friend of mine, and was initially designed just to ben HTPC, with the option for a bit of gaming built in - it was NOT built as a gaming PC. The spec is as follows: Gigabyte P55M-UD2 Motherboard (MicroATX as this is all the case can take) Intel i5 760 @ 2.8GHz (not overclocked) 4GB (2 x 2GB) RAM 768MB GeForce GTX460 GPU 400W PSU I was wondering where you would …

I am a software developer from India. Want to build a computer for my software development work. There are hell lot of processors and motherboards available in the market and choosing among them seems impossible for me. My requirements: 1. A heavy duty processor to handle all my software stack. (I think I need i5?) 2. Should be very very stable. No gaming. No video editing. No overclocking. 3. Don't want to buy separate graphics card. Just descent inbuilt graphics is enough. 4. Don't want to buy separate CPU coolers etc. 4. No plans to upgrade the machine for next 3 to 4 years. So the machine should be good for 3 to 4 years. 5. I will need 6 GBs of…

  8. So as with I am sure a ton of other users, I was getting very poor frame rates in my FSX. So I just got done installing my intel i5 2500 sandy, 16g ram, nvidia gtx570 and reinstalled FSX. Loaded up my local FBO (KSCH) with default settings except turned resolution up and cannot even get 20 fps. Very, very frustrated.

  10. Everything else being equal (except RAM - the Ivy Bridge CPU has 1600mhz RAM attached to the mobo), which would be better for FSX? Current setup: - The i3-540 is my main desktop machine running with a GTX460 connected to a 1080p monitor overclocked to 4.2ghz (lower than before as the CPU is a couple of years old) - The i5-3470 is currently a headless server running multiple virtual machines with 16gb of 1600mhz RAM with a Gigabyte B75 mobo. The i3-540 (running on 2C/2T, HT disabled) has a higher out and out frequency but does the "lower" clocked IB CPU outperform it's older brother at 3.2/3.6 turbo. It's on a Gigabyte B75 motherboard which isn't supposed to be…

Hiya folks... Quick question, or possibly a can of worms... Does having more CPU cores really help FSX and can FSX use hyper-threading at all? I bought the Intel Socket 2011 Core i7-3820 which is 4 Core/HT (8 cores) @ 3.6gHz stock, but endless amounts of reading leave me baffled as to the advantages of HT enabled or disabled? Is it really best to have 4 cores? Does hyper-threadding benefit FSX at all? I did try a search for this info here but only found stuff on over-clocking.. I stuck my CPU onto an ASUS P9X79-Pro board, but am kind of thinking I should have gone with the ASUS Rampage IV extreme instead... I assume that something like X-Plane, b…

  12. Hi, I have a problem with the knobs on my MCP combo being overly sensative. Sometimes I'm turning the knob (even slowly) and it will jump 10 degrees...I try to turn back and it jumps five or fifteen. I've sometimes seen it jump 70 or 80 degrees with just a touch. Wondering if anyone else out there has had that problem and what they did about it. Gregg

  18. I used to be a freak when it came to FS. I even owned my own payware online retailer (one of the first) and sold it in 2004. I haven’t been around in a long time. But after flying in the cockpit of a private jet (Mex-NYC) a month ago, I realized my passion lies in the cockpit of a plane and not so much in the trading desk of a hedge fund. So I installed FSX in a lap top which I then hooked up to my 65in Panasonic plasma. It felt great, but as you could imagine, extremely limited performance to say the least. So I bought a desktop and hooked it up to the same TV but with different results. I will share with you my experience: Specss: CPU: Intel® Core™ i7-3960…

Well I've pulled the trigger on all the other parts for my FSX machine, but am still agonising over the hard drives. I'm thinking of using a 500GB velociraptor for the OS and programs and a 240-256GB SSD as an fsx-only drive. I hear Samsung and Crucial have excellent 128gb drives and am leaning in that direction, but are there any other recommendations in the 256GB capacity range? cheers

How much should I overclock my system? I know the dangers of overclocking, and am wondering how much I should (if I should) without buying any cooling devices. My system specs are over just below my profile pic on this post. Currently, I have somewhat acceptable performance thanks to FSX Booster, ******* tweaks, external limiters, and balanced settings, I'm getting 13 - 15 FPS at a default FSX airport in my PMDG NGX, and settings down just below FS2004 quality (for some reason this is the best it gets which is why im looking to overclock) and about 15 - 20 FPS in the air with PMDG NGX above default scenery. FSX isn't a nightmare to operate, but i would definitely like mo…

See my specs to the left, one mistake that my Gfx Card is 2GB not 1. I was on FSX half way across the Atlantic the other day and my Laptop just shut off. No blue screen or freezing, just shut off. Is that a sign of CPU over heating? I have warranty from ASUS, hasn't done it since and I've been on High Performance since, should I wait and see if it does it again before calling them? I don't want to go through all that to find it's pretty normal for Laptops. Cheers!
