  2. I have just put together a new computer with an Asus P877-V Pro Mother Board and with Windows 8. I am having problems with the SATA connections. I wanted to connect my SSD C: drive to the Intel 6 GB SATA connectors but it will only boot up when I connect it to the #1 ASMedia 6GB connector. If I connect it to any other SATA connector including 3GB the computer starts to boot up and when it gets to loading up Windows the computer shuts off.....weird. Also I have a DATA drive from another computer that I wanted to put in this computer and the BIOS sees the drive but it does not show up in Drive Management. I have tried plugging it into different SATA ports bu…

Hi everyone, I am not much of a computer person so I got my friends (who are computer people) to put together a computer for me. They have put this in it: CPU- Intel i5 3750K Graphics Card- Gigabyte Radeon HD7950 3GB Overclocked Memory (RAM)- Corsair Vengeance CML8GX3M2A 8GB (2X4GB) DDR3 Motherboard- ASUS P8Z77-V LX Motherboard SSD- Intel 330 series 120GB SSD Hardrive- Seagate Barracuda 2TB ST2000DM001 Power Supply- Corsair GS-600 V2 Power Supply I'm not sure what is relevant to knowing if FSX will run good, but I would like to use REX, ORBX, MyTrafficX, and add on's like PMDG and A2A. I was wondering if this computer would run these at a good frame rate. …

Hey all, .. I'm a first time builder, and I've learned alot in these last couple of days about hardware, and assembly of the computer. All thought I had advanced knowledge of computers otherwise, never really stepped on to the area of PCs. So anyway, I'm running the HP G71-340US, which is a pretty nice laptop. Not really a gaming laptop AT ALL. I manage to pull of 25fps-ish with absolutely no scenery or weather. But thats in like wilco aircraft. Don't get me started in the PMDG ^_^ . So, I have some friends @ ZNY ARTCC on VATSIM, that know a ton more than I do and I got some advice and one of them reccomended newegg, and I do not regret going there. So far my experi…

If i add one of the following graphics cards http://www.overclock...=56&subcat=1984 OR http://www.overclock...=56&subcat=1699 , will my system be good for running FSX or Xplane 10? If so which should run the best on my hardware? Matt

I had a question about PCIe 3.0 and the scenery complexity setting for FSX. Now some around here have stated getting better performance with PCIe 3.0 in combination with a GTX 680 card, but is that just the autogen density? Or the scenery complexity slider as well? Not sure if both sliders behave the same way. Whenever I load up at KSEA my system gets hammered at extremely dense, but if I turn the scenery complexity down to normal, my FPS is great. I've noticed there's a lot of small airport vehicles, such as bag carts, luggage, and catering trucks when I turn it up to extremely dense, even though my traffic settings are off (0% on all sliders). Any performance increa…

  13. I recently bought a new 128 GB Samsung 830 for an amazing price which I've dedicated to FSX and it rocks with an almost 50% speed up in flight load times (and significant placebo effect as well ). Unfortunately my 2009 mobo only has sata 2 controllers; using it in AHCI mode, my SSD is limited to 260 Mbs as reported in bench tests. I've looked into PCIe SATA 3 adapters and even purchased one that won't work properly with my mobo (thinks all my available pci-e 2.0 slots are pci-e 1.0 slots). In my research trying to find a worthy but inexpense controller card, I've read that in "real life use" the benefits of using a SATA 3 SSD on a SATA 2 controller vs. a SATA 3 co…

  15. For a little bit I was running at a comfortable 4.6ghz but I recently jumped to 5ghz because well... I'm demanding when it comes to hardware. Not only because of FSX but of the multitude of development tools I have running along FSX. Thought this might help those who are wondering whether it's worth it to jump on the i7 Ivy OC bandwagon Firstly I loaded FSX to get a good feel of what 5ghz feels like as an end-user. Very impressive to say the least, no matter what you throw at it. My settings are for the most part all on 100%, except water. - In areas like KSEA and Orbx NA with 100% autogen, I was getting 50-60fps inside the NGX cockpit, with UT2 AI enabled max tra…

I had been using 4 - 2g sticks of Mushkin #996805 Redline 1600Mhz RAM at 6-8-6-24 2T timings up to now. I just swapped out for 2-4g sticks of Mushkin #996996 Redline 2133 at 9-11-10-28 1T timings. Don't see any apparent change in fps at any particular CPU overclock, but I have not carefully measured any performance differences between them either. Very stable at 1.65v at 5G+ overclocks. 17. Hello all, I have a problem. I just upgraded my RAM from 8GB Kingston HyperX Genesis DDR3-1600 to 8GB Mushkin Black DDR3-2133, but I'm having a bit of an issue with overall system stability. My motherboard is a MSI P67A-GD55 (B3), and my processor an Intel i5-2500K. With the DDR3-1600 RAM, I had no problem running the board with RAM at 1600MHz and the CPU at 4.5GHz. Stability was fine, and I only had one or two BSoDs in the year I've owned the system, most likely from fidgeting with things I had no real knowledge over. In any case, the system ran fine, the temps were fine, and I was a happy camper. Yesterday, in a bid to slowly make my computer more-or-less bleedi…

Hello I am a beginner in OC and all i have done is just changing the core value of my i5 3570K, 34 to 38, is that right ?. (it was for testing, i will up to 42 after) But when i've overclocked to 3,8 my FSX who is in SSD took more than 10 minutes to load a default scenery  Normally it loads in 20 to 30 seconds max ... So what is the problem ? I have to change voltage (voltage was in auto) or other stuff ? do you have any tutorial for OC on asrock Z77 ? thanks ( sorry for my english )

  21. Guys my GTX580 died and I need a new graphics card, any recommendations a GTX690 is out of the question at over $1000, looking at GTX680 what is best model brand especially for OC. ? Also getting rid of my MIVE motherboard it's been a pain in the posterior RMA'd twice and enough is enough, I'm running a 2700k and want a good board for OC aswell. I have been using a program called MSI Afterburner to control the GPU fan. I also tested nVidia's inspector's fan control and it also holds the temperature at the same level of 55C with a heavy (FSX) load. I would like to eliminate having to load a program at startup just to control the GPU fan. However, it seems that there is no fan control from nVidia that does not require loading a program such as Inspector.

How many GB and the manufacturer of the card? I only use FSX on this and no games. Running an LG 42" LCD-LED tv for a monitor at 1980x1080 and another monitor at 1600x900. 24. What do you think of using the OCZ Revodrive PCIe SSD in comparison to SATA3 SSD? Please do NOT discuss price tag, only performance review/comparison, also HDD is not an option. Reading the numerous pages here and all over the internet there are some simmers that use the fast PCIe SSDs for their FSX setup. Can you share the experience with us that are in a process of selecting the optimum SSD combination? I plan to have: OCZ Revodrive 3 X2 [240GB] for a Win7+FSX+737NGX and Xplane10 and priority sceneries (FRA, AMS, ZRH, MUC, VIE) and all other less important scenery on SATA3 SSD Intel 520/Samsung [120 or 240GB]. Also got problems with blurries in orbx sceneries. I could buy watercooler system and up to 4.5 ghz but i dont think 300mhz of difference will solve my existing problems. So i decided to go with i5 3570k and new mobo. For further and low temp overclock ill disable ht. The vendor says its 4 cores. Normally is it 8 cores with ht or what ? Also i need 40+ fps with ngx demanding areas such as aerosoft chicago or orbx melbourne... Im using FSX BF3 and PS as top3 appli…
