I'm running a Dell 21.5" monitor for FSX w/ Radeon 4350 vid card. I'd like to have a smaller (inexpensive) additional monitor for alternately kneeboard items (primarily checklists and navlog) and small GPS window such as below in panel.cfg. [Window03] Background_color=0,0,0 size_mm=456,310 window_pos= 0, .60 window_size= 0.200, 0.400 window_size_ratio=1.000 visible=0 ident=GPS/Autopilot gauge00=Bendix_King_Radio!Bendix-King Radio AP, 0,0,456,60 gauge01=fs9gps!gps_500, 0,60,456,240 gauge02=..\..\Maule_M7_260C\panel\Maule_M7_260C!switch_nav_gps, 0,220,30,35 Would run it in portrait orientation. Just wondering, since I am going to be de-lidding my i7 3770K to replace the intel TIM with liquid metal ultra, should I lap the IHS before delidding or after. I am thinking that lapping the detatched IHS would eliminate any problems with filings or water getting into the CPU. However I am not sure if the rigid support of the CPU is needed to lap effectively or even avoid bending the IHS. Also does anyone have a good method for getting all of the old TIM off the die? Any advice greatly appreciated. Regards, Steve.

Ive all but decided on going down the 2011 socket road but I cant seem to find any information on any new releases or improvements on these processors.. I can see the wiki having Haswell marked for next year but I'd like to scratch the heads of a few around here to see if anyone has any relevant information about any upcoming releases of the 2011 socket. And looking at their release late last year, Are we about due for round 2 on the Ivy bridge hardware?? Thanks in advance Josh

Hello everyone I need some advice. So in march I built my own gaming computer and it is very good for playing games on. The main intention was to get the most out of FSX that I could on the budget that I had at the time. So I was flying with scenery addons, which were mainly airports and cities i.e. Aerosoft Manhattan and Heathrow etc. This would be in a PMDG B744 or 748 and I would get frame rates of around 20-30 with quality set fairly high. This lasted until the 30th August when I brought GEX, UTX, REX and PMDG B737. I would fly form default airports (e.g. East Midlands) with these on and again at fairly high quality to get the most out of REX and GEX etc. I would …

Just decided on my new rig, but as it is my first build specifically for FSX, I would like some opinions please. Keep in mind I had a $1500.00 budget for this one. CM Storm Scout case ASUS Sabertooth z77 board I7 3770K CPU Corsair H80 Cooler EVGA GTX 670FTW graphics card Corsair Vengeance 1866mhz DDR3 WD 10000rpm velociraptor 300gb drive for windows 7 x64 I plan on reusing my Ultra 850 power supply from my old PC. The PSU is about 2 years old, but it runs very well so far. Constructive comments only please. Thanks, Gary

Howdy follks, I realise some chips "clock" better than others, but is there a time when one would out perform another? ie at first release or whatever, or the first million chips. I see that some write asking what batch number another person has got, what difference does this make? its not as if i am likely to get a good chip with a batch number "########" like joe next door who can get 5.0Ghz on his. Regards Paul

Okay, I am looking after about 3 years to build a new rig for FSX. I run FSX in Direct X 10 preview, and have a huge amount of photoscenery, which I do almost all my flying in around the western U.S. The problem right now is, due to the huge amount of photoscenery and a large amount of AI, FSX takes 10-15 minutes to boot up before I can fly, and that gets real old. I am looking at getting a SB 2700K which I will OC to close to 5 GHZ, some 2133 MHZ ram, Corsair H100 cooling, and an Asus gtx 670 or 680 direct cut II Top (if I can find one). My question is, since I dont have any experience with SSD drives, and due to the current price of 1 TB ssd drives, is it p…

I want to build a new system but I have questions with the overclocking and the RAM. System: Sony DVD Drive 24x Antec Nine Hundred case Intel i5-2500k Corsair H80 watercooler 1TB HDD WD velociraptor Mushkin Blackline 8GB DDR3 1600 MSI Z77-G45 PS Thermaltake TX2 RX-750W 80PLUS Bronze EVGA Gtx 560 Ti 2GB $1,252.91 approx. Note: I choose this parts for best performance for the price and the other thing I live in Chile so there is no much variety of pc parts. Now the question with the overclocking, I have a AMD Phenom II X4 975 @4Ghz but I only had to increase the multiplayer, but with the intel there are more things to change and the RAM also overclo…

qn 1: Can frequent BSODs and a Memory stick with errors cause file corruption? qn 2: for a SSD, is win7-64 disk mgmt->check now required/enuf? Le Story: Hi, I started having BSODs recently last week and many C2Ds on both FSX and XP10. In FSX, It usually happened around UK region and troubleshooting I found out I could turn off all Uk2000 free addons and was able to make a successful flight from EGNT-EGKK in the default A321. Tried replay immediately and had a C2D. Tried FSX repair option, then delete fsx.cfg, everything, and it would start and error out at some place. Finally now FSX just flat out refuses to start. XP10 starts, but XP10 installer just won't run s…

So I'm stable at 4.7ghz at 1.35v (shows running at 1.36 in system). Max temps after running the sim for a while are in the upper seventies, although average temps are at least 10 degrees less. I'm pretty sure I shouldn't push it any harder, but I'm interested if anyone has a different opinion. BTW I've got a Hyper 212 EVO in push pull with 4 case fans.

Hey guys, I've just about had enough of my gigantic, Coolermaster Cosmos S case. I'm building a home cockpit and the size of this case is really putting a strain on my ability to keep things as compact as possible. Don't get me wrong, this case is the best case I've ever had, but that is when space is not a factor. With this being said, what is a good SMALL case for use with a Corsair H100, Corsair H80 water coolerd and a GTX680 videocard? These are the biggest components in my system and I really need the smallest case where I can still use them. Thanks for any help!

Hello, friends! Some of you may have seen the recent thread on BSOD's where a few folks, mostly Alain (alainneedle1) and TechguyMaxC, were generously helping me solve the mistery of my frequent blue screens. Now I can report with 99% certainty it is bad RAM. After all BIOS settings and driver clean-ups failed in the long term and my HDD turned out to be OK, I concentrated on RAM again. I am after a week test and the result is very convincing. My system left on one (of my 2) 4GB RAM stick had no BSOD for 5 days (the longest BSOD-free period I've had for a long time). This morning I exchanged the stick to the other one and it was no more than an hour when I got a …

Hey Guys I need to ask a quick question. I have two drives. A normal Hard Drive, and an 180Gb SSD. I have installed Windows on the SSD, which means there is about 135Gb left on the drive. Where would FSX give me the best experience? on the SSD or on the conventional harddrive? Best Regards Luke

Hello Flightsimmers, i'am owning a Q9550 OC @ 3.6Ghz /vCore 1.25 (aircooled with an Sythe Mugen 3 Rev. B) and an ATI HD4870. And I like to upgrade to P3D, but my current hardware running P3D not so well... After reading many threads and tests here and elsewhere, I still can't decide between an i7-2700K or an i7-3770K! The 2700K seems to be the "cooler" one as the i7-3770K... So the OC results on the 3770K will be lower! Wich is the "better" one? Any help is appreciated! Greetings from Germany :-)

I'm not trying to advertise -- I truly believe this device will change the state of simulation/gaming/interactivity when it is commercially released. Just over a day before the kickstarter project finally comes to an end. Over 2 million raised so far. Devices for developers will be released in Dec, they don't anticipate a commercial release for at least another year, so this will be the last chance to get the device hands on and test it with FSX or your flight simulator of choice!

Howdy folks As title suggests, i am lookin for a psu(advice) I have a p5n32esli mobo, and going to be replacing my psu on the off chance i may be getting errors due to it (you may have seen my other post about the constant bsod's which Jim (firehawk) has been so kind to help me with, now the problem is, i will be building my new rig just after the new year, and looking for a psu that will suit me now and can also be used for an asrock z77(most likely) mobo, but certainly a socket 1155, I think my mobo is a 24 pin. As Word Not Allowed has wrote in his guide, i am looking for an 80+silver modular at least, but unsure whether i can use it in my current mobo. Kind reg…

Hi guys help needed urgently! I've picked up the P8P67 pro mobo for my friend a while ago and we are scratching our heads at how to actually get it on. Here's my problem, we used an older Carr chassis for the board and everything fitted perfectly, nothing out of place until we got to the power switch connector, the problem is that I cannot find a suitable place for the power connector. Now I'm not the most technical savvy guy, but the power switch connector in my case is one big connector, with 13 pins in total, it would be fourteen if you excluded the gap on the third line of pins from the top. I'll try and attach an image for you in a reply or edit to this thread, …
