Hi everyone, Im in a deep panic here about my new system that i have just bought. The fan speeds seem to be very high and I wish to overclock my system pretty soon but if the fan speeds are like this, i feel it may be too risky. Any advice on what i have done wrong? Here is a pic of the BIOS

  2. Now I'm back to basics and asking for some specific advice. Here is the hardware. Only win7-64 is installed on the 256GB SSD. I have FSX Gold and a bucket full of Add-ons, Lots of Orbx Scenery to install and the the continental USA in 50cm Sim-Savvy Photoreal scenery by state. I will have my trusty i7 870 close by with everything working more-or-less just a few moans and stutters and crappy AA feet away. Oh yes, the rest of the specs: Chassis - CM HAF 912 HellFire Edition Mid-Tower ATX Motherboard - Fatal1ty Z68 Pro SLI, USB 3.0, SATA3 Processor - Intel Core i7 2700K (4.6GHZ Overclock) Quad Core CPU Cooling - Antec 920 Dual Stage CPU Liquid Cooling Syst…

  3. Hello aviationers! It is my first time posting on this forum and I am glad that I am. I have recently opened my Youtube channel, aviationetwork (as my ID suggests B) ). I want to further the quality of my videos so I have decided to completely build my own PC. This will be my first build as I usually go for the store-bought option. But I have heard it is much more better to build your own. So I am. I have come to a conclusion that for my first build I want to spend $500-$530 as inspired by this video: youtube.com/watch?v=MFJ-sGb54ck Here are my choosings for the components I found necessary: 1) G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 1066…

Hey guys, we are in the throws of moving house and once settled I will be redesigning my rig. What I hope to do is find myself a good dedicated seat I can use and install an Aura AST-2B-4 Pro Bass Shaker. I understand this needs a separate amplifier to function. My question is, how do I run the amplifer from the PC. I don't have a separate sound card and run my sound system directly off the dedicated sound output from the Asus P8Z68-VMB. Do I need to get a separate sound card for me to run a separate amplifier? Having not done this before I'm a little stumped, so if anyone can offer some advice I'd be grateful, cheers fellas.

  5. Just received my Buttkicker Gamer 2, a sound transducer after reading the glowing recommendations I read in the avsims PMDG 737NGX subforum. Wow, this thing is amazing. You can literally feel the ground underneath you as your FSX plane rolls around in the dirt/runway. Don't get me started on the engine sounds! This is a necessary piece of hardware of any serious flight simmer, I would even rank it above TrackIR. The good thing about this product is it will also work with your other games/movies/music, etc.

  7. Hello all, For some reason everytime I use FSX, the computer restarts. And this is game time of only like 2-3 mins. I did a system restore and to no avail. I have a NVIDIA GeForce GTX560 2GB 16X video card with a 700W power supply by XTREMEGEAR. Ever since August 17th, this problem has been happening. I am hoping to get this fixed before September 22nd for the Tornoto Real Ops. Everything is pretty much up to date. According to the event log it is something to do with the Kernel Power as the source. I don't know what would cause this issue. It just came out of knowhere. My rig is a Gamer Eagle 3000. 8 fans 1TB HD 8GB of RAM i7 2700K Liquid cooling …

I am upgrading my computer to P8Z77-V-Deluxe CPU I7 3770K to be oc on air. Gigabyte GV-N680OC-2GB video Card SSD 256GB Sata3 Ram are a bit confused on, QVL list says that DDR3 2200 and above modules will run at 2133Mhz default. Does this mean that they can only be run by O/Clocking the Modules to get the higher speed ?? Which is better 2 sticks fitted or 4 sticks of same total size ?? (2x8 GB or 4x 4 GB) Which is the better CL9 or CL11, I believe the CL11 is the better option ?? So many conflicting views out there, makes your head swim. This is for FSX only. Hoping I can get some guidance here. Thanks

I have a friend who has two Nvidia cards that he is running together in WIN7 64 bit. Is there a way he can monitor the temperature of each card after he has a system crash. He wants to see if it's the video cards overheating that causes the crash. I have a single EVGA Nvidia GTX580 card and it came with software to display the card temperature on the taskbar. He seems to be able to monitor one card's temperature but not both. Thanks, Bob.

It's been quite a while since I've been around here, or, for that matter, since I fired up the simulator at all. (HINT: The last time I showed up, members were still having an intense debate over when the announced Microsoft Flight was going to ship, and whether it was going to be a true simulator, or just an arcade game. How times have changed.) Anyway, one of the reasons for my inactivity was that I had finally reached the end of usable FSX performance from my AMD 5600+ WinXP machine, which I'm pretty sure was at least six years old. I was planning to build a replacement machine, centered around an i7-2600K, at the end of last year, but soaring HD prices put the ki…

I was thinking about upgrading my system to try to get even better performance from FSX, but my ATI 5850 does a good job teamed up with my Intel i7 875K OC'd to 4.0GHz, so I am holding off on any upgrades for at least 1-2 years. My thinking is that FSX is STILL not comfortable with today's hardware, and a 5.5 - 6GHz quad core backed with a 880 GTX (or equivalent future card) will REALLY make FSX dance. I guess I am saying I have achieved "good enough" performance out of my current PC, and spending money at this stage would still not make me happy as far as FSX performance is concerned. So...I have been spending a little extra on FSX add-ons, in anticipation of the up…

Hello All, Is there an experienced "CPU surgeon" out there who could please give me a step by step guide as to how to de-lid the i7 3770K and replace the crappy intel TIM with the coollaboratory liquid metal everyone seems to be talking about. I am unsure of: 1. How to use the razor blade to get the IHS off the CPU. 2. How to clean all the old TIM out. 3. How thick to apply the liquid metal on both the die and the IHS and the best way to apply it. 4. How to put it all back together. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank-you to all of you who participate in this great forum. Regards, Steve.

Hi I want to clarify some myths about CPU cooling. I have OC for more than 10 years on high level, evrything from Air to LN2. Even feed the water block from the garden house tube 4bar 5-8 degrees C. 1. Stage1 Stock cooler , no comments. 2. Stage2 AfterMarket air cooling, depending on Qualty the gain is good. 3. Stage3 AfterMarket "Fake water cooling" gain 0-200mhz over Air cooler depending on Quality. But in my world the "best bung for bucks" . 4. Stage4 ProWather cooling, You gain 100mhz if your lucky, limiting factor the ambient temp or room temp normal 20-25C you get no headroom for much more OC almost the same temp on the IHS…

  15. I'm just curious about how large or maybe how small your SSD is and how you are using it. Do you have all your Windows7 OS on the SSD? Do you have FSX on the same SSD or a different one? What make and size SSD are you using? Make and Model? Do you have any recommendations for buying and using a SSD for FSX? Depending on sale prices, are two smaller SSDs (2 - 128 GB) better than one larger one (256 GB), or vice versa? Thanks, I am buying components for a new PC build and looking for the latest thinking of FSX users. Ray

Hi, I recently got new hardware for my computer. It is the I5-2500k togeather with the MSI P67A-GD53A mainboard. Since I installed my new hardware I'm running into strange problems. Of cause I have already installed the drivers for the mainboard, but that did not help. Now the problem is that I'm getting a bluescreen when I'm not using FSX togeather with a complex addon, respective my NGX and the other PMDG products I have (actually most of the time works with some other complex addons too, but they don't work always to keep my computer running. Only PMDG products do it reliable!). To give you some examples of situations I had: 1) Starting my computer just to surf on …

  19. Hey guys! I just got enough money to buy myself a new motherboard (P67). I currently have a H67 (which doesnt support OC.). I have intel i7 2600K at 3.4ghz, AMD Radeon 6870, and 4BG ram. Right now if i use the pmdg 737 at paris charles de gaulle airport along with paris VFR scenery i will get 19-25 FPS and with and other plane around 25-30. So im thinking if i buy my new motherboard i will be able to overclock to 4.2 or 4.3ghz. Will this really improve my FPS? Because i plan on getting the pmdg 777 and that is going to be a HUGE FPS hog. I just dont want to waste my money on something that wont work. So if any of you can tell me if it will work that would be great. And al…

Before anybody gets crazy because I am posting this in the PMDG forums I am asking here because the only purpose of this computer is to run the PMDG NGX and the upcoming 777. On my current computer I am running FSX with all sliders to the left and can sustain the NGX at default airports around 25FPS. I would like to be able to run middle sliders into complex add on airports with the NGX while keeping at least 30 fps. I am going to keep from my current computer : Power Supply Hard drives Disk Drive (Possibly Graphics card) Radeon HD 4890 (Should I upgrade?????) What I nee…

G'day guys, Yesterday evening I was on my laptop, watching youtube, surfing the web as they say. My laptop's battery was already pretty much dead, as in if I wasn't connected to the power cord after a few minutes the machine would turn off. It ran fine off the power supply. But Yesterday evening the power cord fell out, subsequently the laptop shut down after a few seconds. I put the power cord back in, and tried to turn it back on. Normally it would, but this time it failed to start. There were no signs of life what so ever. I have tried leaving it a while, hoping that it would charge a bit and let me turn it on. I have also tried taking out the battery, and tur…

I'm building my new rig this weekend.... 3770k + evga 680 4mb + lga + Asus P8Z77-V Trying to do my homework first, I noticed that with the Asus Mobo it is very easy to Overclock certain cores of the CPU and not others. Since I will set FSX to use Cores 0 + 1, I was wondering if there is any major advantage in Overclocking just those two cores and not the others, the idea being to keep overall temps down to acheive a higher overclock. I'm going to start out using the Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO in push pull.... Any help or advice would be appreciated since I am kind of new at this.
