  1. Has anyone had any experience with the FSX Throttle Classic Pro throttle quadrant? http://www.fsxthrottle.com/fsx-throttle-classic-pro I am hesitant to order one since I would have to pay international shipping and duties on top of the the base price.

Hi guys ! My FSX is running extremely slow... I get around 10 FPS with: Core i5 2300 2.8-3.4 GHz 12 GB RAM DDR3 GTX 560ti (a bit overclocked) FSX SP1+Acceleration FSX.cfg tweaks (using Word Not Allowed's guide) including HIGHMEMFIX=1, Usepools and some others... PMDG 737 NGX FSinn (for VATSIM connection) The thing is I get around 10 FPS practically everywhere: on the ground (default and add-on scenery) and even in the air (sometimes I go up to 16 FPS, but that's it). Can you guys help me with this ? I can barely stand flying like this and I am really suffering... because I know my PC isn't that bad. Maybe this fact can help: once, FSX ran really good (Above 30 FPS…

Hello, I am buying a new system for FSX and trying to get a SSD. What is a reasonable size, given the FTC that those are quite expensive? I am planning to include: FSX acceleration Few aircrafts (around 5) from Carenado Reality XP gauges and GPS EZ Cam ORBX fTX Golbal, vector, England, Scotland, Wales Few ORBX airports REX4 Active Sky Next VoxATC (with few AT&T or Ivona voices) FS Instant Approach Pro FS Flightscholl 2014 Pro Could I get away with 120GB SSD for everything, and putting the OS in a second, standard HD? Many thanks!

  5. I've got an interesting issue going on and I think it's related to power - whether it be PSU, my UPS, or the voltage coming into my house from the power company, I'm not sure. I live in northern MN and it's been extra cold this year. I run a UPS with my rig because in the past we had short but frequent power outages (esp in the Winter). The frequency of those seemed to have decreased in recent years but I kept the UPS anyway. Starting about 2 months ago my main PC would randomly reboot. The frequency was about 1 per month. But now I'm getting reboots more often (during testing today I had 3). The software for my UPS says the line voltage coming into my hous…

Since early this year, when my son shocked my case about 20 times, over the course of a few days, nothing has been the same. I think the static has/is really wreaking havoc on my components but now it seems to be showing up with issues. Here's what I've experienced in the past few months: PC rebooting when static discharged on case Black screen after windows boot logo "Display driver stopped working" nvidia CTD error Overclock failing, having to go back to 4.2 GHz and lower vcore BIOS not saving settings (presumably a hardware failure because my OC was actually lost in between SSD installations) This new weird DX error (pic) - happened tonight while playing …

Hi I'm looking into a better computer, most likely a gaming or high performance laptop, to hopefully max out FSX. I'm looking into one from CyberPower PC. The specs are below: Intel® Core™ i7-4900MQ Mobile Processor 2.80 GHz 8M Smart Cache, Max Turbo Freq. 3.80 GHz Mobile Intel HM87 Express Chipset Mainboard (Motherboard) 16GB DDR3 RAM (2x 8GB) GTX 765M 2GB 1TB 7200RPM SATA 300 Hard Drive A link to the configuration: http://www.cyberpowerpc.com/saved/1FW2U6 Any thoughts on how this would perform? What specs might need to be changed? I also plan to run REX, GSX, CS, PMDG, etc. Any help is appreciated

  8. Hey all, So after many years of having a much outdated computer, I've been looking into buying parts for a new computer, and having my friend who is an IT guy build it for me. I was just wondering what everyone's thoughts were regarding weather to buy a Haswell or an Ivy Bridge processor... I'm not really sure if the extra money is worth it. In addition, I was wondering if overclocking is absolutely necessary to run FSX smoothly with addons such as PMDG, AS 2012, GEX and so on. Thank you.

I've been having this odd issue where after POST and while trying to load windows all I get is a blank screen. When I say blank I mean the monitor is powered up but the screen is black. The HDD light does show activity. This only happens once in a while. And even less frequently than this I'll get the same issue but Windows will finally load after 3-5 minutes. It's been an odd year for me so far argh!

Mods: Please do NOT move this topic to the Hardware forum since it is solely addressed to FS9 (FS2004) users. Members/friends I have a problem. Now retired, and as a pensioner, I have been saving for quite some time to upgrade my computer. I have noted the trials and tribulations of respected members of our forum, Kiwi and Rafal amongst them, in upgrading to the previous generation of Intel chips. The results being not always as expected. Like many I suppose I had hoped the 'tock' processor "Haswell" would overcome the deficiencies of 'Ivy Bridge' and would run FS9 and its add-ons most satisfactorily 'until 'the cows come home.' Early reviews have not been en…

Hi all- I'm quite new here to the avsim forums, and mainly fly X-Plane 10. However I also wish to add FSX to my library of sims- and it has come to my attention that I will need to purchase a more powerful PC in order to fuel my flight simming hobby. I use a laptop at the moment, and I really love the portability, especially because of the work I do. Recently I came across the Chillblast Tiger Moth, a laptop designed with FSX in mind. (http://www.chillblast.com/Chillblast-Tiger-Moth-Flight-Sim-Laptop.html) I read a review on it in PC Pilot, and from what I read the preformance was excellent. I am looking to run addons such as the PMDG 777 and NGX, FSDT sceneries, …

  16. I recently got into flight simming, purchased FSX, and quickly realized how demanding it can be on your machine, especially once you start collecting addons. I have an OK system but it's nothing spectacular, and I'm feeling the strain on my framerate every time I play. :-/ From what I've read so, FSX needs good ol' fashioned CPU power rather than a blazing fast video card to help with performance . And it seem that lots of people in the forum who are overclocking, which is something which I know little about at this point ... so little that I'm not even sure if it's possible with pre-built computers. Here's info on my setup: Hewlett Packard Pavilion p7-1446…

  19. So I'm in the market for a new flight sim rig. I've been running primarily FS9 on a Sony Vaio laptop for the last 6 years or so. It's been a great machine and it's still going strong, but that's really old in computer years, and since it's also our primary computer for stuff like photos and documents, it's time for a new machine. I've always wanted to try my hand at building a computer, and this seems like a good time. I realize it's probably also a good time to update to FSX, but I'm still most comfortable with FS9 and I've got some add-ons I really like. So I would like to build a machine that will run both. Which brings me to my question: Is there any hardware …

Hi There! I recently installed a Corsair H110 onto my rig and have it pushing hot air out of the top. Should it be pulling cool air into the CPU? I also just recently installed ASUS's AISuite 3 and did its 4 way optimization. It got my rig up to 4.8 - which I thought was impressive. However, the cpu fan profile shot right up, as if it wasn't cooling at all. In fact - if I go into the fan tabs, my cpu fan doesn't even have a profile, like the other fans do. When I loaded FSX - and then something intensive - like the PMDG 777, FSX crashes. I uninstalled AISuite and it runs fine and what appears to be at around 4.2 from just doing the auto performance from with…

Hi there! I've used this forum several time to solve FS problems. Many people here with great experience and knowledge about flight simulators. I've been using FS9 for several years now on XP 32-bit. As time goes on I need to realize that change must be done. Always enjoyed FS9 better than FSX cause of the smoothness of flying. Now I planning to upgrade my system with Win7 64-bit system, i7 4770k, Z87 motherboard 16GB RAM, GTX780 videocard 3GB and 2x ssd discs of 256 GB each. And now for the sim plattform. Since I'm quite familiar with Microsoft FS I was thinking about FSX with ASN, Global OrBX etc. I'm a bit afraid of the FSX perfomance, though. Have read many topics …
