Hi everybody, I plan to assemble a new PC, essentially for Prepar3d. I have no intention to use multiple screens for the time being. Still I want a system that will allow to push the settings a bit and to exploit typical adds-ons (mesh, scenery, skies and hardcore liners). A this point I have selected the following CPU Intel Core i7-5930K (3.5 GHz) GPU ASUS STRIX GeForce GTX 970 4 Go MB Gigabyte X99 Gaming 5 RAM Crucial SR X8 16 Go DDR4-SDRAM PC4-17000 (2133 MHz) Fan Corsair Hydro Series H110 Case Cooler Master HAF X Power Seasonic X-850 80PLUS Gold (850W) HDD Seagate Barracuda 7200.14 SATA 6Gb/s 3 To SSD Corsair For…

Hi all. I have a standart HDD. My windows and Prepar3D are both installed on it. I'm planning to buy a new SSD. And I'll install windows into that SSD to speed up computer. But I'm curious about should I install Prepar3D on SSD? I think it will just make a difference on loading time( that doesn't a problem for me I'm a patient person). Will it make difference on FPS? So, should I install windows on SSD and P3D to HDD, or install windows on SSD and P3D to HDD?

Which would be better for FSX, Intel 3570K running at 4.4 Ghz or an Intel 4790K running at stock 4.0 Ghz? These would be married with an Nvidia 660 card.

With a new system about to be put together, my big question is whether to make the big leap to using SSD for the OS and running FSX + addons. I have read that having the OS on a SSD makes a big difference to starting up the system, but compared to having FSX and all other flightsim stuff on one HDD v's SSD there isn't really much noticeable difference. Can anyone please provide comments on this or experience with running FSX on an individual SSD. What size SSD would be recommended for FSX and addons? I will be including a couple of HDD for storage as a matter of course for things like photos, videos etc. Thanks in advance...

Hey guys, I have a question about my Asus G74sx. My specs are CPU-Intel® Core™ i7 2630QM Processor GPU-Nvidia Geforce GTX 560m 2gbs Ram- DDR3 8GBS Operating system- Windows 7 64 bit storage 750 gb ssd I have been playing fsx for a while with my asus. I get about 20-25 FPS on ultra high settings in small airports but it really dips down when i am at KMCO or KBOS. I was wondering if i could increase fps in these areas without losing graphics. Thanks, John!

HI, I have upgraded my computer with an i7-4790K, that has a frequency of 4.0 to 4.4 GHz. In the computer specs I always see 4.0 GHz, what should I do in order to have the turbo 4.4 GHZ frequency when running FSX? Thanks.

Hello! I have an "old" Creative Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro soundcard which worked flawlessly for about 8 years... until yesterday! I have my headphones connected to the external I/O module where I also control the volume... Yesterday upon booting my PC (W7) I noticed I had no sound. I checked the volume and there was no sound coming from my headphones. I tried different file types (.mp3, .wav, etc.) I even tried some videos on Youtube but nothing... I have a pair of speakers connected directly to the soundcard and when I powered them I had sound again but had to raise the volume to ear anything. The sound was accompanied by I lot of "hissing" and high p…

Dear forum folks, Recently I built a new computer rig as per this forum specifications: ROG Maximus VI Formula I7 4770K @ 3.9 GHz 2 X 8 Gb DDR3 2400 GTX 780 Samsung EVO 256 Gb SSD Windows 7 64 bit Ultimate edition I was able to get very good frame rates and smoothness during most of the flights, even in heavy sceneries such as Latin VFR Miami with Drzewiecki Miami City and running Coolsky DC-9. The problem is that both in FSX and P3D V2.3, the system "pauses" for less than half a second at random intervals during the flight. In a previous rig that I had, I had noted this behaviour when I installed only 4 Gb of memory instead of 8 Gb. As soon as 8Gb were ins…

Hello all, I upgraded my flight simulaor with this new build to run everything on one computer but I am having problems adding a 2nd lower power video card to run two more monitors that I want to use for all gauges and GPS ( Emetuq GNS 530). FSX crashes or flickers on the screens like crazy I have determined that the 2nd lesser power card is conflicting with the 780 Ti power/drivers. I have the 780 Ti in the main 16 GB slot and the smaller card in the 8 GB slot. my question - Is there any graphics cards out there that will work with the 780 Ti so i can run 6 monitors total without the crashing issue? FYI - I have been thru 3 different graphics cards and had no luck. …

My current build is below, built very soon after the first i7's came out. Intel i7-920 @ 3.42GHz Gigabyte EX58-UD3R Motherboard GTX 285 VIdeo Card 3x2 GB DDR2 RAM (honestly, I don't really remmeber the speed, it was "decent" for the time) Corsair 850 W PSU -Aftermarket CPU cooler, this was top of the line for th etime, but I can't remember again what it was -and 2 optical drives, 3 HDD If I upgrade, I'm looking to move on to: Intel i7 4970k (I'm thinking I'd leave it at the stock 4.4 GHz with turbo) Asus Z87-Pro (would be open to thoughts on Asus Z97(plain) instead of this thought, it's actually a bit cheaper) GTX 770 2 GB video card 4x2 GB DDR3/PC10666 …

Guys, I have recently installed FSX and PMDG737ngx in my (rather ancient) pc which I bought in 2005. At the time I thought it was quite a powerful machine, but I have found that it is not really up to running the software for the above. I have tried messing around with the various settings but I can't get much better than 7 to 15 fps. Not only that I seem to be having problems with FSX crashing occasionally, and the MCP not working correctly, Some of it might be me not doing things right I guess! Anyway what I have now decided is that I want to buy a new machine, preferably from a supplier who understands what parameters are needed and can configure it to meet my …

Hi All, I am going in for a new disk to accomodate my growing FSX storage needs. Should I get more speed (but less max storage) by getting an SSD or should I get more max storage (but less speed) with an HDD? I look forward to your advice on this, friends. Thanks so much in advance! Best, Lucky ////////////

The title says it all. I know have the 2600K and it is running very well. However , as I almost only have photo scenery with ag my last 3 cores always stay at 97-100% because of having just 3 terrain cpu threads. Sometimes in very detailed scenery I can see the scenery getting sharped just in front of me. The use of FSX FA already made things better, but I am looking for a bit more. I know that the 4790 performs slightly better in OC than a 3930 or 3960. What would be wise here ?

I bought a mobo, cpu, ram combo from Newegg yesterday and didn't notice until today that the ram is one 8gb stick. Stuff is already shipped. I know that normally single channel will slow a computer very marginally, but what effect on FSX? My old RAM is 1600 and the new mobo won't take it.

Hey fsx fans I have a question, I bought a new PC about 9 months ago, when it was new and only ran fsx with not to many addons I had pmdg aircraft running at a good enough fps, since then I have filled my 500GB HDD with alot of other stuff, games, programs etc, to where there is now about 90GB free, I have had to stop using PMDG aircraft and even scenery like aerosoft Heathrow etc, as the fps are just to lagy to even land (around 5 to 12fps). I have now had enough and am thinking of buying a 120GB SSD drive just for fsx to run off. Will this help? I Know it improves load times, but will it help to bring the fps back up as its not clawing its was through the HDD wit…

Hi all, I'm moving my flight sim system (custom-built PC, 3 monitors, numerous Saitek peripherals) to a new apartment. I was thinking of getting an Uninterrupted Power Supply so I would have time to shut the system down if we lost power. I didn't want a power loss to damage the system or cause data corruption. I'd only be looking for 10 minutes of run time, tops. I just need enough time to shut the system down in case of power loss. The problem I'm running into is that I don't know what size UPS I need. I know there are UPS calculators to estimage your PC power consuption, but I don't know how to account for the power consuption of all of my Saitek equipment. I w…

I have been reading a lot lately about trying to understand system bottlenecks and how to avoid them and by all I have seen my system shouldn't be doing it but I am confused still by the results. Here is a shot of my system in real time with Prepar3D v2.3 running in the background. I have an i7 3930k OC @ 4.3ghz with a GTX 770 OC II and 32gigs of G.Skill 1866mhz RAM (I do a lot of photowork. Needed the RAM). It is my understanding that if the CPU isn't bottoming out, which it is not in this benchmark (I am told one core near 100% is normal for P3D/FSX operations) then the Video GPU should be rocking and rolling. But as you can see in this benchmark, P3D is onl…
