Has anyone tried the GTX Titan with FSX? What performance do you get? I have an I7 4790K and I'm planning to get this GTX 780 6gb but I'm wondering if there's any difference with the GTX Titan beside the price. Also can 750 watt power supply handle the Titan? Please note that I want a lot of GPU memory as I'll be doing a lot of 3d/video rendering work but I'm wondering if FSX can benefit from it as much. Thanks

Been years since I've dealt with Ramdrives, but saw on Steam there is a new one coming out and wondering if anyone has any experience using it or one similiar. I switched to a SSD for my FSX (Killed Texture Popping) and XPX (reduced loading times), but I might check this out as there;s always room for improvement. Here's the links below for digestion. http://dimmdrive.com/ Here's a reported benchmark from the Dev. Since I use Steam alot the integration may prove nice if it does truly improve performance.

So, the only component left on my computer that can be upgraded is my PSU, which is a Dynex brand rated at 520W. What I run under this PSU is in my signature. I have heard feedback from the community that Dynex is not something I should be using, so I am thinking of replacing my current PSU with maybe a CX750 or a TX650 from Corsair. Which would be better, and what performance gain/stability would be brought with a brand-name PSU with increased wattage? Also, I have heard of a phenomenon called coil whine which happens on either the PSU or GPU. Would this upgrade cause my GPU to produce coil whine? Thanks in advance.

Hi all I've decided to have a bit of a clean up with all my backups etc I was wondering in these days of redownloading of files how much of my purchased software do I really need to backup. So I thought I would see what everyone else is doing and take it from there. Currently I have pretty much 2 backups of everything but I think this might be a bit OTT as these days I can simply redownload it While space is not to much of an issue I have about 1TB across 3 drives to spare, backing up becomes a bit of a pain, as I have so much stuff that I don't know in what state of updates they are across the different backups So time to sort it out properly how do you keep y…

Hello: Last week I went out and bought another 8GB of RAM. I installed giving me a total of 16 GB. (4 slots, 4GB each) All was running fine until yesterday when I started getting the blue screen of you know what every 5 minutes. So I took out the new RAM modules and all is fine; down to 8GB of RAM though. Now my PC was clearly recognizing the new RAM as when I looked at my system summary it said I had 16GB of RAM; so that would mean my motherboard can handle it right? Again, it worked fine for a week. Could one of the new RAM sticks been bad? Could the slot on my Motherboard be bad? Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks, Dave

Hey guys! I am currently struggling with microstutters...every few seconds my frames drop from 60FPS to about 30-40 for a splitsecond which is giving me a very annoying effect of stutters. I recently upgraded my GPU to a MSI GTX970 Gaming 4G and it gives great over all performance. Nontheless i just saw that running FSX, Majestic Q400 or PMDG 747 with Active Sky Next only uses about 15-20 percent CPU load which seems very low to me... I used to think that FSX eats CPU.... Is there a way to raise that CPU load and maybe get a more smooth sim? Maybe some of the Tech-Gurus out there have a clue? Best regards, Tom

Now I run my 2600k at 4,6ghz HT off. Would it be worth getting the 5930k with 6 cores? Clearly I probably can't make it run at same speed, perhaps 4,0 or 4,2 at best. Anyone tried this or similar CPU?

Because of a bad case of "Memory Loss", literally, I had to reinstall FSX after a stick of memory went bad in the middle of loading an FSX flight. I am not sure if this is the correct forum, I went to FSX and saw the notice about posting Hardware related topics so I figured it was a 50/50 shot this is the correct forum. My system, FSX, runs smoother and more visually appealing now than it ever has and overall I am very happy with it. That said, I just can't help thinking it may run a little better if I tickle it here and there. Well I have been twiddling with it over the past few days and have found a number of things that do make it visually better in different wa…

Hi guys, I don't normally if at all post in the Avsim forums, I do mainly come onto to just read that's all. But I am that annoyed at my system today that I deem it necessary to come on here, post and try and get to the bottom of the problem I am, now, seeing more of. Today, day off from work, I planned I would fly Emirates 19 in full real time, from Dubai (Fly Tampa Scenery) to Manchester (UK2000) using the fantastic PMDG 777-300ER. Flight went absolutely fantastic, flying online using IVAO at the crowded skies event (Which was unusually quiet over the UK..) and just before descent, FSX froze and produced a Windows 7 fatal error message asking me that I could/sho…

Hi All I am starting on a project to dramatically improve my FSX experience and will do it in two parts, any help on either would be really appreciated. The first stage is a new main computer, the specs I am thinking of are: Intel I7-4790K 4.00GHz Asus Z97-A motherboard 500Gb Sansung 840 Evo SSD 16Mb Kingston HyperX fury - Black Edition MSI GTX970 Twin Frozr 4GB I am also thinking of a "be quiet Pure Rock BK009 CPU Cooler", Is this good enough for this spec of processor? Will this do the job? Is it overkill? Is there anywhere I can save a pound or two? The second part of my project is to use my old computer networked to my new one to run wea…

I'm looking to upgrade my CPU and MOBO for FSX. Currently I'm running a 3570K at 4.5GHz with an Asus Maximus V Formula Z77 Mobo - it runs fine but I wouldn't mind boosting FPS a little on approach. I've been thinking about getting the 4790K and Maximus VII Formula, but I've also be eyeing the Haswell-E CPUs - specifically the 5820K and 5930K. What kind of overclocks are being achieved on average with these 3 CPUs and how are they performing with FSX. I know the 4790K is pretty solid, but the extra cores with the -E series will help with FTX global/vector and my other addon scenery. Is it even worth upgrading now, or should I wait until next year when Broadwell and Skylake…

Started compiling my list of parts to finally build a PC for simming. Its mostly for P3D but some FSX till PMDG releases their birds for P3D. I'd like some feedback on the parts list. First off, I am not looking for killer FPS like I see posted by some AVSIM members and on other forums. I'm looking for a smooth, solid mid 20's to 30FPS locked in heavy clouds at KSEA Orbx PNW at night in something like the NGX or 777. There will be overclocking at some point. My list is: nVidia 780ti Intel 4790k Asus Maximus VII G.Skill DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2133 (PC3 17000) Desktop Memory Model Samsung Evo 240GB SSD (Boot) Seagate Baracuda XT (Sim)

Hello, I have some problems with the memory of fsx. Every time I start the programm my whole pc slows down. Here are some details about my computer: AMD 5core with 16GB RAM, 64Bit Windows 7, 1GB grafic card, and enough diskspace.... When I look in the task manager I see, that fsx only uses 2 GB of RAM. I think that there is any configuration problem within fsx. Has anyone a idea?? Thanks, Thorsten

OK - I have to have a laptop for work and I want my FSX with all the sliders out to max when I get home. It looks like the HP Omen will not overheat and with an i7 4710HQ CPU, an NVidia 860M 4gb GPU, 16 GB RAM and a 500GB SSD it should tick all the boxes right? Before I spend what will probably be about AUD$2000 has any one else tried one? My main concern is overheating but the news from HP is that they have this fixed. I wonder if they have tried it out with a CPU hungry programme like FSX? Gerry

Gents, I currently have a Western Digital 2 TB Blue Drive (C:/) with Windows, FSX, and all the other good stuff installed. I also have Seagate 1TB HDD (D:/) for Documents and pictures and what not. My question is, can I buy a Samsung 850 Pro 512GB/1TB (Top of the line) SSD and migrate my C drive onto it. Thus keeping everything the same including my windows desktop and all the programs. I will then rename the original C drive as E and keep the SSD as C(Boot), WD drive as E(I will clear it once the migration is done and everthng looks fine so I can store pictures on it), and the Seagate as D. From what I see, this plan should technically work the way I want it but migr…

Hi. I am having problems with USB devices freezing or not being powered at all through my USB ports. I have been looking for an a/c powered hub (USB 2.0 is fine) to power game controllers and the like (such as the Razer Tartarus/ Saitek X52) - they freeze up when I use them together via the PC's USB ports. But I can't seem to find one that's recommended. Nothing will ever get 100% 5* reviews of course, but comments (on Amazon.co.uk) such as 'this device burnt out my motherboard', 'lasted six months then stopped working' and the like are not to be taken lightly! So any recommendations welcome. Thanks!!
