HI, I know these threads come up on almost a daily basis, so I apologize for being repetitive. I haven't flown in about 6 months because the oc on my current system (built in 2009) finally have out in the spring. The old one is still fine for daily use but not for FSX. It was a great system - the oc at 4GHz held for over 4 years and I used the original FSX and OS install. Following Nick's guides, everything was rock solid until the oc finally cried uncle. Now I'm finally able to build a new system. I fly with a lot of AI, payware scenery and payware aircraft (airliners), but I don't use photo scenery. I'm not sure if I use my ORBX stuff in the new build. I like th…

I have a i7-4702mq, 12GB 1600Mhz CL11, GTX760M, 240GB SSD für win8.1 64bit OEM und FSX + 60GB mSata und 1000GB HDD. With A320/321 Xtended at Aerosoft Berlin Brandenburg intl (EDDB) I have 16-20 FPS in VC with no weather and no aircraft traffic. The CPU is running up to 3,2Ghz. When I turn on traffic, REX with Overdrive, REX Latitude and FSPS Fiber Accelerator (to make it playable) I get 8-11 FPS on the ground in VC. Would a second PC (Pentium 4 2,8Ghz, 4GB Ram) enhance the FPS when I run traffic, REX Latitude and REX weather on the second one. And if, do I have the same FPS without REX and traffic as mentioned above.

I've seen some discussion about the i7-4770 being a good match performance wise for FSX and I would think P3D as well. When I compare my i7-200K specs to it using the Intel Core i7 Comparison Chart, I see very little difference in the numbers. Can someone explain to me what makes one CPU more powerful than another? Is it based on Processor Base Frequency? Process Technology? Supported memory MHz? Thanks!

Hi guys, I need your help, I want to upgrade my system, but I don't know what to do, I'm using an AMD Fx 4350 (which is really bad), but as you know this is so weak, it doesnt run FSX with a proper FPS,so I decided to upgrade, my budget isnt the best, so I wont buy an Intel core i7 4770k, I cant. I readed about intel processors are better (talking about fsx), but I've seens some videos, people using AMD Fx 8350, and FSX running good. So, my options are: 1) Intel Core i3 4150, It's obviously that I have to buy another board, and I don't know if it's gonna be problem, I dont know if I'm going to have some kind of problem with the two cores it has. 2) AMD Fx 9370, I dont…

Hi Guys, So I've finally got my FSX set up to the point where I know everything is almost perfect! If only I could just fly into Heathrow without dropping down to 11-12 fps my life would be complete! So I decided to look into overclocking! And to be honest, I have no idea about it! The only thing I know is, I'm going to need a CPU cooler, and I was wondering if this one would do the job; http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835181032 Here are my PC specs: OS : Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit) Motherboard : Gigabyte H87-D3H Processor : Intel Core i7-4770 @ 3.40Ghz RAM : 16GB PSU : 650W Would I be able to go up to 4.5Ghz just b…

Concerns?I appreciate any feedback you would have!ThanksDennis

  10. Hi All, Having posted already about upgrading my graphics card to the GTX980, it was suggested that I may be better off sorting my CPU upgrade 1st (spec currently in signature). I found the following bundle on amazon, and wanted your thoughts on it. Will it last for a few years to come? INTEL Core i7 4790K 4.0Ghz, ASUS ROG Maximus VII Ranger Motherboard & 16GB 1600Mhz DDR3 Crucial Ballistix Sport RAM Bundle. Or is there a better combination? Regards, Rob.

Hey guys, need some help on this... Firstly, I know FSX and Nvidia cards always work together much better than Radeon cards, however... I don't know all the specific manufacturers, but here's my setup: Intel Core i5 2500k (OC to 4.2Ghz normally) SYX P8Z68-VLE motherboard Radeon HD6770 2x 4 gb DDR3 RAM Dynex DX-520WPS PSU 2x 7200 rpm 500 gb HDDs, one 64 gb SSD 1 case fan, 2 fans on Coolermaster Hyper 212 Evo push/pull config I'm ideally looking to upgrade my GPU to a Radeon R9 270X, but I want to be confident my PSU can handle it. Otherwise, I'd have to settle for probably a plain 270 or a R7 260X. I'm looking at those cards because they're the be…

Hi all, My rig is now >3 years old, and while I'm still fairly happy with it, I'm looking to squeeze out some more performance before I rebuild a whole new machine. I currently have: i7 2600k, OC'ed to 4.6 GHz GTX580, 1.5 GB 8 GB RAM (4 x 2 GB, DDR3 PC10700, 9-9-9-24) P8P67 Pro Motherboard OCZ 120GB SSD (FS only) 1 TB 7200 rpm HDD (Win7 x64) I mainly have three questions: 1. I recently made the switch from FSX to P3Dv2. It's my understanding that P3D makes more use of the GPU than FSX, so would I see noticeably better fps in heavy scenery environments with a GTX980? 2. I know that my RAM is archaic, and slow. What specifically would bet…

  19. Good day, Well I will try to explain what is happening in my FSX... I had a old computer and I buy a new one, an i7 4790K running at 4,40 Ghz, I have a GTX 650 2gb as graphic card, 8Gb Ram @ 1600 9-9-9-28, HDD for Windows 7 and SDD for FSX. Despite everything is new and with High speed processor, I have installed FSX and AUTOGEN is loading and popping up very slow, and also the scenary texture far of 2 miles is blurry, I cannot see clear the scenary close to me. I have try to run it without any tweak, afterwards I have tried with Bojote´s website, and no success, I have download latest drivers and I really don´t know what to do. So I have spent about 6 months researching this topic to try and find what might be wrong, but I am starting to run out of ideas and solutions. I custom built a desktop PC back in July and it is awesome, it was the dream computer I had been saving up for. However, after setting everything up and getting my flight sim fully operational again I ran into an issue of overheating and my computer completely freezing. My computer would freeze on whatever I was doing last and the sound would be looping so fast that it would just sound like a loud buzzing noise coming from my speakers. This would happen mostly when I was gaming and occasionally when I was just doing something like…

I currently have a i5-3570K that I've overclocked to ~4.3 ghz, alongside a GTX 670 that I've slightly bumped the speeds up on as well. I've had this setup for a few years now, and overall I'd say I'm happy with it, FSX is pretty smooth under most situations. However, there are certain scenarios/locations and aircraft that can cause some frame rate issues, and I'd like to know if certain upgrades would be worth it to help. There are two main things that occasionally cause frame rate issues for me (as in below 20, it's usually "smooth enough" above that): 1. Lots of clouds. I do love me some ASN overcast. Occasionally, really thick overcast layers or lots of cloud l…

I have a lot of stuff spread over 3 different drives and i'm sort of looking to consolidate onto one. I would like to put it all on an ssd but With the amount of space required I think cost might be prohibitive So I think it may be the sshd And here's the question, is it possible to move only my various flightsims and scenery, addons and all the other bits and pieces over to the new drive without having to do a complete re install of everything I may also want to put the operating system on that drive as well ,I've not decided on that one yet Any…
