Hello- So out of the blue, my computer wont start if two sticks of RAM are plugged in. I have an Asus Z-97 Maximus VII Hero and 2x sticks of Corsair 8BG RAM for a total of 16GB's. But magically, if the two sticks are plugged in, the computer will light up for a few seconds, then shut off, then light up agai, and continue this cycle. If only 1 stick is installed, it starts up normally. What is going on? The motherboard and RAM are new and have worked with each other before, this is all new. Thanks.

I have everything related to FSX on my ( E ) Drive. It has 213 GB free of 931 GB. I was told with a SSD you can fill it up without affecting performance. Also, would it be possible to download or copy FSX add ons onto my WD external drive ( F ) that has 1.15 TB free of 1.36 TB ? Thanks in advance.

I want to upgrade my current system which consist of an i5 2500k OC to 4.5. I received an MSI Gaming 7http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130768 motherboard as a gift and wanted to build around that. I was looking into an i7 4790k and a Gigabyte G1 Gaming GTX970 video card. I want to overclock this chip and wanted recommendations of which memory to get. I want a total of 16GB but don't know if I should go for 2 sticks of 8GB or 4 sticks of 4GB. I want to reuse my two SSD drives my 750W Seasonic PSU and my Corsair H100 cooler. Which memory you guys recommend? Would that motherboard get the job done? Thanks

Two questions here. First of all my SSD Drive ( the one I use for FSX ) has 213 GB free of 931 GB. Since it's an SSD can it be filled without affecting performance ? My second question is ; Can I put some FSX related things on my WD external hard drive ( 1 TB ) without affecting performance ? Thanks in advance.

Greetings, almost updated from Phenom II X4 955BE (@3,85GHZ) to I7 4790K, i hope i will be able to run P3D on sunday-monday. I'm wondering if my new CPU will be bottlenecked by my actual GPU, which is ATI R9 270X. An important point is that using one monitor res 1650X1050 Broadly I do not think it will almost never, but I wanted to know your opinion. With Phenom II my GPU load was around 15-30%, no spikes, artifacts, white flash with extreme CFG settings (SWAP TIMEOUT=1, TBM=300 etc) that was an easy play with my old CPU of course! But now she will finally have bread for her teeth... Now I read on the forum that many use as a high end GPU GTX 970 and highe…

Hi all, after using FS from 3.0 up to FS9/X then switching to mac to further my DJ career-I've come back to lurking about here for quite a while and jealously watching friends from my old VA get into the air again-I've decided to come here asking for a ~budget-mid high range recommend build(my wife will kill me if I even go over-IF she lets me go for it!) to get back in the air with all my friends from the AVSIM/VATSIM community My goals: -Get a computer that will run FSX(or FSX se?) or even P3D ON Vatsim (is FSINN still around? I hated the SQBX Traffic models!) -Run the sim with PMDG MD11/73/74/777, Aerosoft/Blackbox/FSLabs Airbuses(I'm a FBWFTW type of guy) tube…

This was first posted in the wrong forum so I'm reposting here and have noted that in the other post. Hope that's ok with the mods... I was originally planning my first FSX build over a year ago when I had just started getting into FSX, but life got in the way a bit and here I am a year later, finally ready to pull the trigger on the new build. It’s going to be a huge improvement over the laptop I’ve been using since getting into FSX (I know, awful). Good news is that I now have a bit more spare cash to make this a good build I think, and I’ve also spent the last year becoming a much better virtual pilot. Listed below is the system I’ve put together from PCPart…

I originally posted a similar build-related question about a year ago when I was first planning on putting together a custom FSX computer, but life got in the way a bit and here I am a year later, finally ready to pull the trigger on a new build. It’s going to be a huge improvement over the laptop I’ve been using since getting into FSX. Good news is that I now have a bit more spare cash to make this a good build I think, and I’ve also spent the last year becoming a much better virtual pilot. i currently have an i7 930. 12 gb of ram. Gtx 970. Asus p6t mitherboard. I have my i7 930 OCed to 4.19. And it is very stable. Once I increase the clock to 4.2 I get a message saying overclock is failed. It then Tells me I have to go into the bios and fix it. The wierd this is, this only happens after my pc wakes up from sleep. Overall I have ignored the problem and the pc is stable at 4.2. I have also tried to change my voltages and nothing. It's just kind of a hassle to get that message everytime I wake my pc up. Then forced to restart. Any ideas? I have read that people had to disable the cpu pll overvoltage. But I can't find that option on my…

According to Jetline systems, RAM is the second most important thing you should consider upgrading for your FSX build - http://jetlinesystems.com/performance.php Do you know what kind of performance improvements (and by what percentage) you can gain from going to a higher MHZ ram speed, and lower CAS latency? Thank you.

Hey guys, Next week I'm off investing in a new Computer. Here are a few things to consider 1) It's starting point (stock without upgrades) should be significantly better than my current PC (especially show a good difference in FSx compared to my current PC) 2) The upper spending limit is €600 (I found two I'd like to compare here and get some suggestions) My current PC: Intel Core 2 Q6600 2,4 GHz 3 GB RAM ATI Radeon HD4850 512 MB Win XP SP3 PC1: AMD FX4300 3,8 GHz GeForce GTX750 1GB 8 GB RAM WIndows 8.1 64-Bit PC2: Intel Core i5-4460 3,2 GHz GeForce GTX750 1GB 8 GB RAM Windows 8.1 Update (whatever that means.... don't know if that's ev…

I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction. I have done a lot of googling and now come up with anything very helpful. I am looking to overclock my i7 4790k to around 4.5, 4.6 GHZ. I want to do this without water cooling, but with an aftermarket cooler which I already have installed. I have never done an overclock and this would be my first one and I don't know a lot about it, or how to do it on my specific system. I am comfortable making changes in BIOS when I know what to change. I have an MSI gaming 7 board. Any help is appreciated.

Hi All, I currently have an i5 3570K running at 4.7 GHz on an Asus P8Z77-V Pro and I am thinking of swapping this combination out for the following: i7 4790K on an Asus Z97 Pro motherboard I was wondering if anyone can offer any advice on whether or not this is a decent upgrade. I have always used Asus motherboards but am completely open to suggestions on alternatives. I currently run a Asus GTX 780 which I plan on keeping for the time being. Best Regards Richard

I have been reading about P3D/FSX and many hardware setups people are experimneting with forthe last 14 months, and I thought I had built the system that woud give me the ultimate machine to run FSX/P3D (v2.2+) at decent fps with all settings and sliders to the right (with everything set the maximum). I wanted as "realistic" a flying sim as possible. I builta system and even bought a complete Cessna simulator cockpit with seats and all. BUT ... I am getting 2-4 fps with settings maxed out. Of course this is unacceptabel. FSX gives me 10-12 fps, also unacceptable. Witj all setting to lowest possible settings gets me 40 fps, but I do not want to fly with such ridic…

Hello again- I am running on an i7 4790K @4.0, GTX 650 GPU. Asus Z-97 Maximus mobo, and 4GB of RAM, and my sim is so slow its sad. Flights rarely end up at 100%, and if they do load, they are laggy and looking around/changing vies causes the sim to freeze. And I'm done. What can I upgrade to make this all end? I would love to have a system like some of the You Tubers have that are smooth with NO stutters. What should I upgrade to make FSX (and P3D soon) run extremely nice? I have the decent CPU/mobo, but that didn't help. Thanks.

Good afternoon gents, as some of you may be remember, I was contemplating a phase change build a year or two ago. I was impressed by what was possible to get out of the processor when cooling it to -25C, but the problem was noise, a bit too loud for my cockpit. The company that offered to build me one back then, have reached back now, with a new concept, promising lower noice and a guaranteed 5,2GHz 24/7 stable overclock. I'm not good enough to evaluate the components to detail, so I thought I'd run it by you esteemed experts I have a Dell Ultrasharp U3011, but contemplating the Samsung S34E790C curved (3440x1440). The use will be FSX, maybe X-Plane, and hopefull…

Need a quality one, not loud, and can support Haswell/ LGA 1150/Dual GTX 970s. I've been happy w/ my Corsair HX 750 but this is for a friend and they might want the headroom to go SLI 2-way at some point. Apparently the 750W HXi isn't supplied w/ connectors for 2-way SLI, or at least it doesn't say so and one buyer was miffed because of this. If you can talk us out of nVidia please have at it! This box WILL NOT be for flight simulation, mainly FPS's. Thanks!

Hello, I am quite new at these hardware tweaks, so please excuse the obvious question... I am getting a new machine and will re-install everything I have related to FSX (see below). I read over and over in this Forum that FSX is better installed on a "separate HD" from OS, but I am not exactly sure about this: 1) should it be a physically separated, second HD in the machine (internal second HD, as sometimes I see in PCs for sale)? 2) could it be just a partition of a single HD? 3) What exactly would you put in the second HD/partition, beside FSX, assuming that in the first HD/partition I will have OS? I have adds-on such as ORBX scenery, Carenado aircrafts, Reali…

Hey guys! So I'm wanting to upgrade for better performance on my computer in fsx, as well as other games, but fsx mainly. Currently, I have an EVGA GTX750Ti 2 GB, 8 GB ram, AMD FX 4300 (supposedly this gets 3.8 ghz) , some msi motherboard (obviously made for amd chipsets), 500 watt PSU. I'm looking into getting an Intel I5, not sure which rating, as well as an intel motherboard. No idea about the cooling, but not interested about going water cooled. Wanting to stay within the 100 to 200 dollar range, same with motherboard. If I have to, I'm fine with getting a 750 watt psu as well. Any ideas and help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hello everyone so a little back ground on my history I use to play FS98, 2000 (long time ago) With the new FS Steam and FS2015 being talk about it has resparked my interest in the game. I use to have so much fun playing and working with different types of addons at the same time. I have put in some research on what Addons I would like to run and also looked at several forums and videos of systems being built. I think I have the bases covered but not being the most fimiliar with computers I just wanted to double check my work before I placed an order. Hardware looking to run: 3-24in screens, Yoke, Rudder pedels Addons: REX-Overdrive Active Sky Next FS SE F…

Hello everyone- So magically one day when I was restating my computer, my computer would light up (lights on the motherboard and fans would turn on), then after a second or two, it would shut off, then turn on again, then shut off, and repeat the process for ever. After investigating and re=seating everything, I concluded that my RAM sticks are causing the problem. I have x2 sticks of 4GB of RAM, and now I can only use one for the computer to start. If I were to put in both, it would start the problem stated above. Anyone know what is up? Its the RAM that came with the PC, nothing special. I am thinking of upgrading to Corsair x16 GB's of RAM so I'll no longer get th…
