Hi all, at the moment I have an i5 quad core 750 2.67 ghz processor and am thinking towards an upgrade. I wish to know what the next progressive step for a processor would be to run P3D 2.0 as it looks to be less CPU needy and moving towards GPU doing a lot more of the work, which brings me to my next question, would I be better saving for a new GPU instead and sticking with my current CPU?. I have a 550 gtx ti and run P3D quite smoothly, but would love to add some better weather and reduce blurries at high speed down on the deck flying. and, would it be better to go for a higher clock duel core or a lower clock quad? Finally, after looking through all the forums on …

Boys and Girls, Let me start by saying that I am a complete technophobe and my limit in doing computer "stuff" is limited to changing my RAM or operating system. Anyway that aside I have been lucky enough to order a new rig which I'm hoping is going be first rate at running FSX and in due course P3D. The spec I have ordered is ; Cooler Master Cosmos SE Case, i7 4790k - overclocked , Corsair Hydro H100 , NVidia GTX980, Corsair DDR3 2133MHz 16GB RAM; Asus Maximus VII Ranger mobo; Crucial M500 480gb SSD; Barracuda 2TB HDD, FSP 850W modular power supply, SoundBlaster Zx sound card all running on W7 ultimate. Now the big question I have is what drive should I put FSX o…

Two years and eight months ago, I built and overclocked a computer primarily to use for FSX. At that time, I installed a new WD Caviar Black hard drive. I have installed FSX on a seperate SSD. I just ordered a new mother board, CPU and Video card. I have read that hard drives last about 6 years on the average. Does it make sense at this point to buy a new hard drive? If so, what is the best way to get the contents copied from the current to the new drive? Any and all opinions are welcomed.

Hi folks In these days i am shaking my pocket to start a new Desktop build to my P3D v2.4 and FSX. In the previous two builds i've used the intel processors, and i am not doubt about what intel gives us, especially before three days i was decided to buy the newest intel processor i7 4790K. But today i've found so many fans to the AMD processors, and that encouraged me. And never to do anything in the simulator before asking and take the advising, that what we are accustomed. Now i am trying to find the powerful and the strongest AMD processor that can enter the competition with the i7 4790K and doing very well with the both sims and can impress …

i have i7 overclocked to 4.5 (and very stable) but running a GTX780. Will it really make such a difference to get a 980? Would this 980 not sit and wait for CPU and idling along? if 980 get a yes, which one would you recommend, then I am reasonably content with what I have, but you know there is always going to be the question, but maybe it can be better Sorry I am not that technical

Hi, I'm getting ready to hand down my flight sim computers Motherboard, Processor and RAM to my main computer, so I will be upgrading my flight sim hardware again very soon.... With that said, as stated in the topic header, is there anything on the near horizon in regards to motherboards, processors and ram or should I puchase now?. This will be a P3D2.latest only computer, all other hardware will remain the same as shown in my profile. All third party software will be run via network. For the most part, I'm not worried about a cash limit when purchasing these items... Could go as high as say $2,500.00 if need be. Thanks Everyone

Greetings I gave in and bought a 34 inch widescreen, curved monitor from Dell. I am also considering purchasing 2 x GTX 980 cards and upgrading to a Devil's Canyon CPU from a 4770K. I didn't do very well on the silicone lottery with the 4770K. This will just about be me done for a couple of years at least; and is not a casual purchase for me. I am currently using P3D 2.4. Current CPU = 4770K 4.4Ghz overclock Current GPU = GTX 780 EVGA factory overclock The Dell monitor resolution is 3440 x 1440. I would like to get some advice as to the following: -is the GTX 980 overkill -will the GTX 780 drive the Dell monitor -would a second GTX 780 drive P3D in …

Thinking it is time to upgrade my card currently I have gtx 570 (system 2600k overclocked to 4.5) I run fsx with pmdg , utx, orbx global, rex, asn. If I upgraded to gtx 970 what kind of performance increase could I anticipate ? My system runs well however when running pmdg ngx with stormy weather my fps definelty suffers and I was thinking the new card would help fps in moderate to heavy weather situations. I also was considering trying prepar3d and now that it utilizes the gpu more. Suggestions Thank-you

Hi! Specs: ASUS Motherboard Maximus Hero IV i7 4770K Crucial DDR3 BallistiX Sport 1600MHz 8GB I'm struggeling to get any higher than 4,4 ghz, which I can run pretty stable with Prime 95 stress testing. Temperatures during max load are around 80 degrees (I actually managed to gain 20 degrees by applying new thermal paste. From before during load I got 99-100 degrees ) Anyway, I have a vCore set to 1.3 V, which I know is a little bit high, but many claim that the i7 4770K can handle it pretty well. If I set the multiplier to 46 and run the stress test, it fails with blue screen after 3 seconds. A multiplier of 45 runs for about 7-8 min with vCore set …

Hi guys, On my system I have fs9. The system is a Quad core Q8200 (2.33GHz, 1333MHz, 4MB cache) from 2009. I really have tons of addons (payware, freeware, lots of traffic, you name it). I specially love airline flying from busy airports and I constantly keep tuning my ai-traffic. This traffic is getting more demanding so at busy airports my fps drop dramatically. Now I'm thinking about a new system. What kind of system would be adequate enough of handling my fs9? I found this system for a fair price. Can this system handle fs9 properly? 4th Generation Intel® Core™ i7-4790 processor (8M Cache, up to 4.0 GHz) 12 GB Dual Channel DDR3L 1.600 MHz (3 GB x…

So I recently have decided to upgrade my PC, which I literally got from the dump (built it from parts people had thrown away that still work). I don't know the full details of it, but I do know these specs -intel processor, single core I think, at 1.9GHz -6gb DDR3 RAM -win7 premiun 32bit -Nvida GeForce GT370 (I beleive thats the number) graphics card So I now have some money to upgrade my PC, but I am not sure how to spend it most effectively. I could probably get about $450 at the moment, but I can't go much about that. I was thinking an i7-4790K, but then I would also need a new motherboard so I wouldnt be able to invest in anything else. However, if spending $4…

Hi, I'm looking to build a slave PC to run alongside my main PC running FSX. The idea is to run software like Radar contact, FSC and ASN plus possibly some gauges on the slave PC over a network. Looking around it doesn't seem that I will need a particularly powerful PC to act a slave but I would appreciate hearing from those with actual experience of running a slave PC. I can use quite a few components from an old PC so I am just looking to purchase a CPU, motherboard and memory bundle as I have everything else I will need including a nVidia 560GTX graphics board. I have a budget of up to approximately £300 but would ideally spend rather less than that. I …

Hello again, After having the thermal paste melted off of my CPU(resulting in a hideous overheating), I have replaced it with Arctic Silver and re installed correctly. But now FSX seems to be weird. My temps are down in the 50's while FSX is running, and with loads of 20-39%. That's nice, but it has been weird as well. The sim overall lags, not FPS lag, but processing lag. While it now takes nearly 10 minutes for the sim to start (2 minutes before), loading flights take 3x longer (default Ultra Light at Friday Harbor takes 7 minutes as opposed to the 1 minute before), and when I am flying a flight, the sim has good frames, but freezes every 10 seconds as if it is goi…

I bought a new computer from cyberpower pc, specs in my signature. They recommend doing the following test to make sure everything is OK, I know basics of computers but don't know enough to ensure I wont harm my new computer. Does anyone have recommendations on the below if these are good test and if I use these what concerns I should look for to not hurt my new system. Thanks! - Memtest - Intel Burn In - Funmark - Speed Fan to run during all tests to monitor temps Are there any others I should run or differently then listed above?

Hi I wonder if some can offer some advice before I go ahead with this upgrade .Currently I have an old hard drive that needs upgrading So I would like to get some new stuff probably 1 ssd and a hybrid drive but I am trying to figure out what the differences are with some of the internal connectors on my mobo, which is a ROG Rampage 4 Extreme. Inside i have 4 6gb connectors however one pair is called intel x79 serial ata 6.0gb which are set to AHCI by default, the other pair are ASmedia serial ata 6.0gb but there is a note on the ASmedia one which says " the sata6g_E1/E2(red) connectors are for data drives only ATAPI device is not supported" If I install a new s…

Hi, I'm currently planning on building a new rig. I wanna be able to get the best possible experience in P3D, while at the same time being relatively future proof and keeping in mind potential P3D 64-bit. I've chosen the following components: Case: Corsair Carbide Series 300R CC-9011014-WW Mid-Tower Gaming Case CPU: Intel Core i7 i7-4790K CPU (Quad Core 4GHz, Socket H3 LGA-1150) CPU Cooling: Corsair Hydro Series H100i All-In-One 240mm Digital High Performance Rad Liquid Cooler for CPU GPU: Asus Nvidia GeForce GTX 970 Strix Graphics Card (4GB, GDDR5, PCI Express 3.0) PSU: Corsair HX Series CP-9020032-EU 850W (reuse from current rig) HD1: Samsung 840 EVO 500GB 2.5-…

I have one SSD on my computer, its 480GB. Is it ok to put both sims on this SSD, is there a special set up to be done. Should I buy a second SSD to run P3D, I am assuming I have enough space to put both on this, my current FSX is about 70GB with many add ons?

Hey guys, I recently sold my system and now iam in the process of rebuilding. It was a very decent system and was quite capable of running fsx. Iam now going with the z97 msi gaming 7 and the 4690k Cpu. I will be adding a video card in few weeks time, however my question is how good or bad would fsx perform on the internal Gpu? I will for obvious reasons use very conservative settings, but will I be able to run the likes of ASN along with the Pmdg 777 and other major add-ons?
