Noob here (to this forum, but I've been flight simming since Sublogic's FSII on the C-64). Just upgraded to FS2004 from FS2000 (not a typo).Anyway, I'm enjoying FS2004 but as I've been practicing takeoffs & landings with the various aircraft I'm a little surprised how "tough" they are at surviving a pretty high descent rate on touchdown, even on full realistic settings. It was the same with FS2000 but I never asked anyone about it. For example, if I make a sloppy approach I can hit the runway with the rate of climb indicator at something like 500-600 feet per min descent rate, and not break anything. I'm not sure if the survivable descent rate at touchdown is airc…

There are so many free scenery mods out there, I'm eager to wet my beak. However, I'm not familiar with how FS interacts with the addon scenery in place of the original MS scenery. I've seen messages from some people who have not been able to properly restore the original MS scenery after removing some custom scenery, without doing a reinstall of FS9. Are most freeware scenery mods easily reversible back to the standard scenery? (As in, just unchecking or deleting the unwanted scenery from the FS scenery screen takes care of everything?)

Problem: Start FS9 -> Main menu -> "CHANGE" Selected Weather -> "Select a type of weather:" -> "User-defined weather"-> "Customize weather" -> "Error: fs9.exe has generated errors and will be closed by windows now. You will need to restart the program." In the game (after creating flight), -> "World" -> "weather" -> "Select a type of weather:" -> "User-defined weather"-> "Customize weather" -> "Error: Zugriffsverletzung bei Adresse 21132D05 in Modul "Weather.DLL. In FS2000, I could manage some risky behavior that no sensible person would attempt in real life--landing on bridges for example, between the suspension cables and superstructure. I could put a Cessna down on the Golden Gate.In FS2004, my attempts to land on bridges trigger a "building crash" even when there are several feet of clearance around my aircraft. I'm sure there is no way to tweak this, but it's just an observation.

What am I missing here? This, to me, doesn't look like a $35 addon. Anyone know anything about this plane or the company?http://secure.simmarket.com/product_info.p...roducts_id=2203ricardo

  7. Apologies if this has been asked a trillion times already, but I'm a bit new to all of this and really would like to be shown the specifics of what tweaks, when applied within the .CFG file in FS2004, will make things like the dreaded blurries and autogen pop be reduced, if it can't be removed entirely.I have had a go with FSX and have 'tuned' that to within an inch of its life...and probably mine too if the truth be told! But I'm back to good old FS2004, because I had a hardware upgrade and wanted to see how much I can max it out, in terms of environmental add-ons and performance.Currently I can run FS2004 with 8x AA, 16x AF at a rez of 1280x1024...but all this is handle…

Guys,I am not sure of the opinions of the PSS Airbus A3xx series, namely the A320, but I am sick of it. The aircraft is so far from realistic it is not funny, not to mention the hole vfr/ifr panel thing is so wrong! I guess I should of done my research prior to purchasing - my own fault!Anyway, enough of the whinging. What I was wondering was if anyone has heard of another Airbus Payware currently in the making? I'd love to see the A series to the same detail provided by LEVEL-D or PMDG.All the package needs is a decent, realistic (or somewhat) model.a fully operational 2D panel that reflects real world (The panel only needs to be simple, no mucking around, like this vfr …

Does FS9 model engine damage resulting from excessively high throttle settings? If I firewall the throttle I see some indicators turn red, but I can fly that way for a long time, and don't seem to hurt the engines. I don't want "random" engine failures, but it'd be nice if they overheated/failed as they would in real life, if limits are exceeded.

  15. I'm a 2D guy and regularly disable the VC in the .MDL file...FOR MY OWN USE ONLY...of course. The performance improvement resulting from this is immediately noticeable in texture loading times when using 2D. The main downfall to this is that I always seem to lose visibility of taxi/landing lights from INSIDE the cockpit (I can still see them in exterior views like "spot" and "tower").Is there a way around this? I have many aircraft which never came with a VC and I can see their taxi/landing lights, shining on the ground, from the 2D cockpit (the Tinmouse II as an example). I've thought about manually adding landing lights in the "aircraft.cfg" of aircraft that I have alte…

Hello everyone, Periodically, my hard drive goes from having tons of free-space, to so little that my system can barely function. This reduction in space can take mere hours. After running several virus scanners (coming up with nothing), I wen through my system manually and found that my FSUIPC.txt file was more than 30GB in size...I believe the file is usually about 2KB.If I delete the file, my system works normally until the next time the system suddenly runs out of free-space and I have to do it all again. Can anybody help me with this problem?-wp

I've come across a few add-on planes that start cold and dark. I was curious to find a way to apply that to defaut aircraft. It's quite a bit more realistic, then starting sitting in the cockpit with the engine fired up.Part of the secret of success in life is to eat what you like -M.Twain

I have had FS9 on my computer for a couple of years and haven't had any problems with it. Recently, however, I had to delete it from my computer. I recently re-installed it but am having problems viewing panels. The panels work on all of the default FS9 planes except the 777. In the 777, a blank, black area shows up in place of the panels. But, I can tell that the gauges are there and work because my mouse cursor changes when I put the mouse on top of the gauges, I just can't see them. I have the exact same problem with all add-on panels. Does anyone have any idea what is going on and what I can do to solve it?I haven't made any changes to my computer's hardware s…

Good afternoon:I have seen many different postings in various forums about tweaking the FS9.cfg file settings to get the best performance and appearance out of the sim. As a result, I have made some changes over time to quite a few of the settings, but I'm not really sure about what to be using on 10 of the lines. Below are my current settings and in parentheses ( ) are some others that I've also seen being recommended. Would you smart simmers please let me know which settings you would choose for the following:WEATHERMAX_UNLIMITED_VIS=96560 (or 48280 or ?)GRAPHICSTEXTURE_MAX_LOAD=1024 (or 512 or?)NUM_LIGHTS=6 (or 8 or?)DISPLA…

Hi.I'm sure I have readed something about this problem but I can't find it.I've formated my disc recently and reinstalled FS9. It always was a "bad closer" but now it don't close never.I have to force it via right button and close, and I receve the error message. If I leave the program to close by itself it is active in the backgroud for hours. The result is: every time I start FS9 it reads the addon libraries, etc as in the first time. How can I solve this problem? Thanks.
