Hi all-again.Could somebody please tell me,a.Why is it important to switch the ISA to MACH in the jets and at what altitude should you do that?b.Why does the pressure needs to be set to 'Stnd' at transition altitude, and whats the difference between 'trans. level' and 'trans. altitude'c. Whats decision altitude-and why do you need to set the 'baro' to that level.I do realise that these may be very trivial and basic questions-I apologise for wasteing soemones time.I have tried looking them up and the answers don't make much sense.Looking forward to your help.Qas

I remember seeing a screenshot of a tool (that I hope is easy to use) where you basically ran your mouse over a map and the tooltip told the user which mesh file was active in that area. Was I kidding myself? Is such a tool available? Or is it something more complex than I thought?Any information would be greatly appreciated!(The reason I ask is that I have several addon scenery packages that come with their own mesh. As such, they may conflict with the man FSGenesis sceneries I own as a Galaxy class member at FSG. I've been told that, if two meshes are of the same LOD/resolution, then FS9 will pick the one LOWEST in the scenery library dialog. Since I didn't know this ear…

..odd word to spell and it was doing odd things to the ATC today. An evening flight under VFR, ATIS told me the runway they were using, then I chose the airport, chose to land, and when presented with the choice for runway pressed the key and......Nothing happened..silence...silence.I thought I had a bug perhaps and checked that ATC was still talking, which it was elsewhere. I will fly there again to see if it was a one-off oddity. Perhaps a coffee break?Andy.

I just got the Imagination KCVG. The afcad had parking for UPS, but none were showing. So I looked at my cargo flights into kcvg and there were no UPS. I have the pai's ups package installed. So does ups fly into kcvg? I know they aren't far from ksdf. I thought it strange that they don't.

I have both the PMDG 747 and the PSS 777. I have AIRAC 05/12 dating from 11/05 very old serving the PSS 777. I never thought twice about whether a given airport with ILS capability would have the ILS in the database to allow ILS approaches using the PSS 777 Or Airbuses for that matter. That includes European airports. Now I purchase the PMDG product which ships with AIRAC dated 6/05, I updated it to the 0609 trial version for PMDG from NAVDATA [ looks like a year newer database] and still find that most airports outside US like Heathrow and Amsterdam have no apparent ILS runways.Even Vancouver intl ILS is missing from the newer PMDG database.I am mystified why if we are us…

It's a little bit windy in the UK today. Makes for some challenging virtual flying...I just loaded up Dave Maltby's BAC 1-11 with live weather courtesy of ASV6 at my local airport (Manston - EGMH) for a quick flight. Quite a crosswind!EGMH 181205Z 181322 23027G40KT 9999 FEW012 BKN020 TEMPO 1316 4000 RA BKN012 TEMPO 1314 23035G50KT BECMG 1416 26027G40KT TEMPO 1318 26040G60KT

Hi all. Over the holiday I loaded up FSG North America, GE Pro, UT USA, Portland and Rhode Island - and somewhere in there I noticed my aircraft are now taxying (on the pan/concrete taxyways) as though they are on grass: i.e. they "lope": the nose goes up and down, and there is visible dirt being thrown up from the gear. It's not so noticable in a taildragger, but it's still there, and really noticeable in the 727. It applies to all airports I've tried. It seems to be loading the wrong "whatsitcalled", but I don't know where to start looking. Thanks for any assistance.pj

Now being on the right side of a bit of a PC disaster, I have all my software reinstalled. However, I've obviously lost some FS9 stuff. Apart from one or two aircraft, i'm also missing a scenery that provided a moving fleet of US warships etc travelling out of San Diego Bay. I can't even recall if it's freeware or payware! I have Fly Tampa San Diego, so know it's not that.Any ideas?

How come whenever I try to select an airport it always takes it about 15 seconds for the page to load. Then it takes exactly a minute ( I timed it) before the airport is chosen and I can click fly now. During that that FS04 appears to be locked. I only have to planes which didn

http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/165371.jpgI sometimes have the same problem with some aircraft. Some aircraft sometimes show strange textures. Here in this example the buildings have the problem. Is this a problem with FS or with the settings of my videocard?Regards,Dimitri

I've noticed that AI aircraft on approach only extend the landing gear when the aircraft is about 500 feet from landing. Is it possible to change this so that the gear is extended about 4 or 5nm out, to make it more realistic, or is it something which is a feature of MSFS and can't be amended ??

Use FS Panel Studio v 1.1. Also use FS 9.Want to relocate a radio stack on panel I made.I do not understand how the numbers in window_size and window_posmove the radio stack? When I first start changing the numbers(and write down results)the radio stack starts relocating in the FS 9 screen of the aircraft.Example ONLY: window_pos may have follwing numbers: 0.335, 0.303.I change numbers to 0.000, 0.008 but results get worse!I want the radio stack to be placed in the upper right hand side of the screen. What numbers should I use?Thank you in advance

I have never purchased the Aeroworx B200 - because it appears that my mid level AMD 2400 will not run it very well in FS9 as it is heavy on FPS.The AVSIM frontpage announces a new Version 2.2 with allegedly improved performance - with a link to the Aerowox website. The Aeroworx website says nothing about a 2.2 version - but merely sells a 2.0.1 version dated way back in 2005 What gives??Thanks Barry

Hi guys,i going to have a new hard drive added on to my com. So having two physical drives. How do i place things for best performance. I've heard of tips to separate fs and windows on separate drives. i'm also thinking of placing add ons on separate drive from fs to maximise data performance. how should it be done?BTW. i might also be able to get new cpu, second hand. Would a .2ghz improvement be worth the hassle to install a new cpu?

I am looking for a freeware ASI with adjustable speed bugs. I have searched the file library, but with no success. But it occurs to me that such a gauge may well have been included with a complete panel package. Does anyone know of a panel package which includes an ASI with adjustable speed bugs?ThanksMartin

Hello, I was obsevering some AI traffic at LAX and I actually saw an AA B763 landing on 25R while a JAL b744 and an AWE A320 were on approach for 24R and 25L respectfully. I personally observed this behavior on a few occasions, but still no one has yet to figured this out for AFCAD filesNow I'm sure this question has been posed before, but is there anyway for airports like KLAX and KATL to have landings and takeoffs from all runways simultaneously as they both do in real-life ops without it being a phenomenon in FS2004? or FSX for that matter?Any insight will be greatly apperciated:-walksmile

Hello AllThere is one thing that irritates me more than occasional stutters, more than higgly jiggly scenery as you fly over it,more than slow drawing Vcockpits and that is square blocks of colour in the ocean is there any way of fixing this as there is nothing more unrealistic as perfect squares in a turbulant sea. What do you use as sea textures?can you tell me what you think is best?cheers Andy

Simply put, what is the maximum possible airspeed that FS9 will allow? I have long been under the impression that the Mach ceiling is somewhere around M4.5, but a discussion on another forum has me wondering if this is the case. Thanks for any insight you can offer.jt
