  2. Our friends over at the FSX forum would probably shake their heads in disbelief if they read this - BUT - I am almost overwhelmed with all the new products, freeware and payware, that have come out for FS9 this year. There have been a number of products that I've thought "Yes, I'll get that soon" and then another one comes along and before you know it, you can't remember what you were thinking you "had to have" a few weeks ago. (Hey, at my age I have trouble remembering what I had for lunch today!) So, here's a suggestion - a discussion thread on what we think are the "must have" addons that have been released so far in 2012... (The time frame doesn't have to be rigid…

I am using the 737NG 600/700. So here's my question. Is there a way to use the autopilot independent from the FMC? Or to clarify: I have set up the FMC and configured the MCP panel; I took off, engaged the autopilot, LNAV, VNAV etc. and everything is going great. But perhaps in flight I want to say, okay - I want to hold this altitude, this heading, this vertical speed etc. Independent from the FMC. So basically, I want to fly as if there is no FMC, but I want to use the autopilot! How am I supposed to set up the MCP panel for this to happen? I've been looking all over the web for an answer but couldn't find it. Hope you understand my question. Please …

Good day, I have recently had to reinstall FS9 and took the advice of PC PILOT and installed into a folder I called C:/ FS2004 etc. Everying worked well and all my old sceneryetc installed correctly. Ialso added FLY TAMPAS Kai Tak . I am now trying to add some updated airlines but the WOAI installer insists on putting them into C:/SCENERY/WORLD/SCENERY instead of the C:fs2004/scenery/world/scenery. The only way I can add these airlines is by manually installing them after WOAI extracts them to a separate folder. The WOAI installer wont allow me to tell it where to look when asking it to do an auto install it only gives the option of FSX or FS2004, so it is obiously fin…

I know I have done this before, but seem to have forgotten how: do I edit a text/doc file, or do I need to use TTools? I want to edit things so that ATC no longer gives instructions to little Cessnas (AI traffic, not my aircraft) to the effect, "You are 500 feet above your assigned altitude. Descend to flight level 550.." When I am at Mach 2 and FL550 in my trusted JustFlight Concorde, I don't want to be crashing into Cessna Skylanes! In fact, I am sure I posted about this here a few years back (and fixed the issue - so no idea why it has resurfaced all this time later), but have brought up all my posts and cannot find it. Maybe it was lost in the AVSIM 'crash', or m…

Hi,I have a weird problem. If my framerate goes above 100fps, the environment sounds (ie, wind) distorts and starts to skip. This is especially noticeable when I pan the view around outside (ie, when fps is constantly above 100fps). I can fix it by turning off environment sound in the FS9 sound settings, but it turns out these sounds are fairly integral to most aircraft. Has anyone else experienced this? Any solutions?Bryn.

  9. Hi, Just a heads-up to let everyone know that Drzewiecki Design products are on special offer this weekend only with about a third off the normal price on both the SimMarket and Flight Sim Pilot Shop websites. For anyone who hasn't experienced these products before, these are high quality airport addons with, in most, a good amount of autogen around the airport perimeter which I like as it adds to the sense of realism. Many otherwise excellent airport addons are let down IMO by having little or no attention being paid the the airport perimeter or surrounding countryside. If you want to populate Poland with excellent payware airports at a bargain price then I can confi…

Chaps, Bored waiting for Radar Contact v5, I've had a bash at Pro Flight Emulator. I was initially put off because it doesn't seem to be that widely used in the community and the few youtube videos that show it are pretty poor. I also for some reason expected the voices to be robotic and or computer generated. I have to say once I fired it up I was delighted with the level of immersion. There are a gazillion different voice sets so now for the first time you can have an Irish Ryanair pilot speaking to a Scottish tower controller in Edinburgh who is also controlling Lufthansa pilots who sound German, KLM pilots who sound Dutch and Monarch pilots that sound English. The voi…

Would it be preferable to install FSX on a drive other than the drive that FS9 is installed or does it matter? The drives are not the boot "C" drive but 2nd and third internal drives. Thanks Dom

  16. Hello all, My first post here, please be kind :) I've just recently upgraded and reformatted my PC from Vista to Windows7 64bit and I will be re-installing FS9 soon. I would be very grateful if anybody could suggest some 'must have' add-ons for FS9, be it freeware or payware (excluding aircraft and airport scenery). So far I have these two, any additions would be great: FS Real Time Activesky 6 (or is there a more updated / better version in the market?) Thank you

  17. This add-on raises the bar for FS9 development and is surprising to say the least this kind of effort was put into an FS9 release: 1. Aircraft Shadows from within the VC. You can see the shadow of the aircraft looking out onto the ground or in the clouds from within the VC. I thought this was only possible in FSX. 2. Opening the windows in the VC allows one to better hear the external APU engine sitting alongside the aircraft. Nice little touch. 3. Wing flex and wing views from within the VC. Looking back while sitting in the VC at the wings and their movement when going through clouds is a nice touch. Not anything new in FS development here but I wasn't …

Hi all, Wondering if anybody has managed to download this program from Flight1 to-day. Reason, I've been trying all day and keep getting knocked back with invalid Account EMail/Password problem. Have checked by logging into my account using another Computer, nothing wrong with either of the above have sent a ticket which has had no response. I would try to D/L on my other computer, but as the license is tied to the M/C its D?L on that's no use to me. Regards JohnT

  20. Looks like 2012 is one of the best years for the long dead FS9! :good: One of the sceneries I was impatiently waiting for has just been released by Thai Creation: Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal. Looks great (I judge from screenshots and knowing Thai Creation so far) and the price seems very fair (14 euro or 15 dollars), so I am definitelly getting it. In case someone is also interested in flying to the Himalaya, have a look and give the purchase a thought: Available at SimMarket: http://secure.simmar...rt-fs2004.phtml

  21. Hi all, My brother and I like to fly in multiplayer on the weekends. We use radios to communicate with each other and I was wondering if FS9 supports voice communications and if it's possible to use headphones with mics to communicate. This would be more realistic and I wouldn't have to change the batteries every 3 weeks or so. To communicate, I assume you press the TAB key to key up the mic. Is that correct? We tried this in FSX but neither one of us could hear the other talking. We have our mic jacks plugged into our computers but do we also need to plug in the headphone jack? I'm thinking that if we do that, this will cut the computer speakers off and we want the audi…

Can it be done ? Fly FSX for a couple years, because of various reasons enthusiasm sinks to an all time low, install FS9 again, load it with goodies,( which, in some cases, you have to buy again ) take lower graphics quality and missing other specific FSX features for granted, and enjoy the tremendous fps, no more OOM, no more CTD, and even no more BSOD ??..... I am trying it, so far so good ! Anyone else that has been confronted with such a decision to make ? ( and came to the conclusion that it was deffinately the right one to make ?.. ) Btw, in my case it has all to do with flying more or less complex jetliners as opposed to low and slow 'enjoy the s…

Are there any new Airbus projects out there with at minimum PSS functionalty with CDU and such? Looking for something equivlant to PMDG. Thanks Randy
