I 'm getting very frustrated with the Auto pilot. According to manual, when I want to set heading, I press CTL H. When I press that the AC always turns left and fly head of 20 degress. I manually bring it back around to correct Flt plan course press heading hold and it goes right back to 20 degress left. Have I missed something in the manual??Bill M

There are OLD pilots and BOLD pilots, but no OLD BOLD pilotsHi all,This might be a question better directed to Bill Rambow but here goes. When flying in the normal cockpit mode [level flight]and then switching to the co-pilot's side, the aircraft commences a 4500ft/minclimb!Same goes for the change to top gunner's position. This is using the key pad selections. No problem with selecting the other views.Lots of unprintable words are spoken when the captain hands over to the co-pilot on finals!!!!!!!!:-fumeAny help to fix this would be appreciated.befree :-newbie

I have asked a couple of folks how to do this and so far no reply so maybe someone here knows.I fly online on the VATSIM network, lots of VFR. A couple of us want to fly the B25 there but in SquawkBox there is not a B25 listed as a type of aircraft. Right now we are using the Remarks area to show it.How can I add the B25 to the CSL for SquawkBox so that it will come up in the menu for filing flight plans. I know the file is CSL_ICAO.csv and can be opened with Excel. Just don't know what the columns are for and what info to place in them.By the way guys thanks for a absolutly great aircraft and all the CD's are great. I have spent hours in here going over them. Thanks …

I've heard some talk about this and now that the weather is warmer, I plan to do some running around, grabbing snap shots of the airport(as requested from MAAM -- Rambow?). I just wanted to make sure we were still on for that. Because I'll toss you those pictures, unless you can give me a direct e-mail address for the scenery person.Thanks!-------------------Kenneth WeikTWVA 395CDG Hub Managerhttp://fly-twva.com-------------------

Are there any tricks to slowing the plane to 170 mph? If I use 15-17" and 2000 rpm it takes a long time to slow down and a lot of ground gets covered before you can start a descent into the airport. One quarter flaps will do it, but I understand flaps should not be applied above 170.Thanks,John Woodward

Man I hate to "gush" over this aircraft but damn, this is the closest thing to a real "feeling" aircraft I have come across in a long time. (Yes, I am a real time pilot, 1000 hrs TT, 80 hours in helicopters the rest in stiff wings) Got about 45 hours in the thing now and can routinely go in and out of Catalina airport (Avalon) with no trouble. Someone posted they had a problem trimiing BT but I think perhaps they need to look at their controller settup because I had the opposite reaction, I think it is a bit too stable when trimmed..lol I'm working on a divorce because of the sounds. I have an 80 watt speaker system and think I am running it at 77.8 watts... Need new …

I find the B-25 very difficult to trim, almost impossible, for level flight. I have tried several different sensitivity settings to no avail. I don't have this problem with the R4D or the PHDDZ DC-3 Dakota. Any ideas or info?

So, now that you have flown the virtual BT around the virtual countryside, how would you like to see the real world from the real plane? Well, if you are one of four lucky attendees of the 2003 AVSIM Flight Simulation Convention and Exhibition this September at MAAM, you will!:-jumpy :-jumpy :-jumpy :-jumpyAVSIM is running the Low Level Lottery drawing on Saturday, September 27 to choose three lucky crewmembers for a flight on BT around the Berks County countryside that afternoon. The grand prize winner will be awarded the Upper Turret Gunner's seat. His takeoff/landing seat is directly behind the flight deck where he will have a great view of the pilots and panel. Af…

    Greetings Bill!I remember another thread where the lack of photo's of Sperry-equipped B-25's was mentioned. I found such a picture at http://www.wpafb.af.mil/museum/research/bombers/b25c-5.jpg and although it's not a J-type (it's a C) it stil gives a good impression.Be well!Jaap Verduijn.

Not of BT, but another B-25J displayed in the Dutch Air Force museum (sadly in apparently non-flyable condition).http://www.hornet.demon.nl/photos/20030317030.jpgAircraft is a former Dutch Airforce example used after that by the Indonesian Airforce and donated to the museum in 1971.Clearly visible is the Sperry dominating the copilot part of the panel.I couldn't get into the aircraft, this shot was taken from the side window next to the copilot seat.http://www.hornet.demon.nl/photos/20030317029.jpgCloseup of the throttle quadrant and lower panel.

As my "Hat" doesn't function I use the keyboard to look around. However after installing the B-25 I followed the tip to download "Active Camera Pro" and am delighted with it.Despite having that facility as well as the keys I cannot access views such as the Bombadier's or the Waist Gunner's compartments. Are there specific key commands that I've perhaps missed? Active Camera doesn't get me into those areas.

First, let me congratulate you guys on out "realisming" (I just made that up) your RD-4. Since I took my basic multi engine flight training in the "Mitchell", I was thrilled to get it and it is really fun to fly......except.....No matter what I try to do in trimming her up, it wants to go into a steep bank to the right. As soon as I lift off, it starts into a right wing low situation. I have had to try to get it level and get into the "Z autopilot. My landings wth this situation closely resemble my "controlled crashes" when I first shot landings in it. Has anyone else had this problem or have I missed something in the manual?Dave Sherb

While waiting for my Briefing Time CD's, I downloaded the manual and read it. I then downloaded the BT Trial Version and love this airplane. I can't wait for the CD's to arrive. Also, thanks for introducing me to the camera from Anticyclone, it adds a whole new dimension to my simming.;) I tried a carrier takeoff from the USS Washington but was only successful once. After reading this forum I set the wind speed to 50 knots and now takeoff's are uneventful. See how this one ends.

I noticed the training video and they trun on the mag switches and run full mixture before cranking, in your videos, you guys leave mags off and mixture off. You count 8 blades and then turn mags on and keep priming, when the engine starts up then you guys push mixture rich. Why is there a different starting procedure, is it safer, better for the engines. I have noticed that in fuel injected engines. Some state you start with mixture cutoff and when it starts then you advance the mixture, while others say you start with mixture full in.Thanks for the future [email protected]

  21. Hi Bill. I've been having a blast taking off from the carrier, but I have a question about the briefing notes for that flight. The notes say that after reaching 6000 feet you should "dump everything but 5033128n the mains; all other tanks dry." This is a very cryptic typo. What is it really supposed to say? Also some questions about carburetor heat- The Engine Warm-up checklist you supplied says to turn on the heat if below 12 degrees C, whereas the Approach checklist says to turn the heat on if the temp. is below minus 12C. Are these two numbers supposed to be the same? If so, which one is correct? (I tried both the simulator help and the Pilots Training Manual, bu…

Since Russ can not easily get on line, I have offered to post his answers to questions posted in the forum. He has faxed me six pages of handwritten notes and here is the first subject:********************************************************CARBURETOR ICEThe B-25 models were originally equipped with a Holley carburetor. The Holley carburetor was fairly susceptible to carburetor icing and carburetor heat was used as a routine practice, checking carburetor operation prior to take off and then using heat in flight as required, and again prior to landing to clear out any ice. Proper carburetor management in flight would be done by maintaining the carb air temp either below…
