Hi all, I would like to install ASE, but before I purchase I'd like to know if I can install it on my secondary hard disk, since I would like to preserve the (more limited) space on my SSD where FSX is installed. How would this influence the performance of FSX? Does ASE need a lot of reading/writing from the installation disk while in flight? Best regards,

Hi Jim, Hi Damian, Hope all is well with both of you. Sorry Jim, guess it is back to school time :(.... Was flying/thinking last night, flying I do often, thinking not so much but I did have an idea regarding the way haze pops in/out at your defined visibility ceiling and was wondering if there was any way to make it a 4 step process oppossed to on/off? Something like this:Visibiliy ceiling 10000-14000 feet Then passing 10000 rather than just flipping the on/off switch it decreases by 25%Passing 11000 decrease another 25%" 12000 " " "" 13000 " " " And as you pass 14000 it goes off... Then as yo…

Hi guys! I own several top airliners so I think the next logical step would be to buy some some decent weather engine and graphic enhancements. I was thinking about buying REX 2.0 but I noticed this software is very large (15 GB disc space required). So I went to HiFiSim website and I discovered that your software is significantly smaller (0.5-1 GB). However there are several similar programs being sold and I don't know what to buy to get REX 2.0 equivalent. I should add I have FSX SP2. So what you can advice me at this point?

Hi Somehow this evening ASE wouldnt start up at all so went back to basics and uninstalled ASE and ASA then reinstalled the ASA upgrade to ASV6.5 and the service packs and finally ASE with the latest download. Everything now working fine again. Just wondered why this should have happened - unless my firewall was kicking up for some reason? John

Hey Guys, I started having this problem 2 nights ago, I would be coming in on approach and all of a sudden I have this major wind change. It would change from about 10kts to 75kts on short final. Has anyone else had this problem? Now coming in on approach I have to manually update the weather by going into weather on FSX and selecting user defined weather. Please help. Thanks

  8. Hello I can comfortably acquire a route from vroute now and program into the 737 PMDG NGX FMC and fly the route in a no wind situation but when I fire up ASE I am not really sure how to utilise the weather and to put the actual ASE winds into the FMC to ensure my fuel burns / ETA and VNAV paths are accurate. Do I simply manually load the flight plan into ASE read the winds for enroute levels and arrival and departure and plug them into the relevant pages of the FMC. I know in FSBUILD2 you can import the winds into the flight plan but I could never really work the program out plus I am more inclined to use Vroute premium now which comes with its own real world weather info…

Hi there. I have ASE installed on both my computer and my wifes machine, i first installed it on mine but was having some performance issues so i decided to try the networked setup which was suprisingly easy. Sadly i cant always use my wifes machine to run ASE as she sometimes take it with her (its a laptop)So when i switch to my computers installed ASE or vise versa from mine to the one on my wifes laptop, it asks to activate the key again, which doesnt seem to be a problem because it goes through and activates just fine, but i want to make sure i dont screw anything up and suddenly it wont activate. So is it ok to keep doing this, and will ASE just keep working so long …

  11. Hi,Today I performed my first flight with FSX, ASE and REX2 textures. As soon as ASE loaded the weather (ASE on a second computer connected via WideFS to the FS one), the sky above the plane started flashing white all the time! As soon as I closed ASE everything went back to normality. If I launch ASE again, after downloading and applying the weather condition the sky starts again to flash.Anybody can help me?Thank you very much,James

Jim, Is there a way to copy and paste your settings directly into an ASE file? I can't find a cfg or init file. I'm tyring to give ASE one more chance as the frequent anomaly between what ASE is reporting and what is depicted in the sim is to frustrating. I'll set up an approach only to find the depicted winds 180 degrees off. I'm using DWC which works well except the destination winds rarely matches what FSX is depicting. Thanks. Bob.. :)

Hey guys, I have been a long time user of AS6.5, but somethings have bothered me. For example, the METAR reads: KSLC 150533Z 32026G32KT 5SM +TSRA SCT080CB BKN100 OVC130 22/14 A2997 In FS with AS6.5, there aren't that many clouds around, but yet the thunder is shaking my walls! Yes, there are some tall thunderstorm clouds, but nothing at all like the METAR reports. Is this normal with AS6.5? I've never really took the time to pay that much attention to whether AS was accurate or not. Does ASE do a better job in placing the weather into the sim as close to real weather? Thanks!

Is there any way to get FSX to depict an overcast layer in FSX with ASE? I always see blue sky above while the weather gauge is indicating an overcast layer. The clouds at the overcast altitude are scattered or broken until you reach that altitude. Will a graphics package make any difference?

Hello, I've got a problem when reloading a flight which I had saved with ASE running. For example, I save a flight at FL 330 and 120 nm to the destination airport. When I later reload this flight (ASE is now turned off!) and I continue flying and descending to the approach level (e.g. 3000 ft) the temperature and winds values are still the same as they were on FL 330. Checking this in the fsx weather menu shows that all layers are set with identical values. I'm quite sure, that this was not the case some time (some updates) before, which means winds and temperature values were saved accordingly to the altitudes (layers). Did I miss a setting which I have to change to get …

Everytime ASE updates weather stations, most of the time at least 150 of them, FS9 freezes. Sometimes it takes 5 minutes for FS9 to come alive after the update. I have a dual core, 2.8 GHZ, 10 GB Ram, Windows 7 64 bit...It doesn't seem to me I should be having any hiccups with my specs. Any suggestions?

I'm using the winds aloft data from the briefing page (after loading a flight plan) to predict winds aloft and during descent on my route. However, there is an apparent inconsistency that I have been wondering about for a while: The winds aloft at my destination on the briefing page and on the report screen are usually completely different. For example, this is the briefing page showing the winds at my destination (LGAV): This is what the report screen shows for LGAV: For example, at 6,000 ft the briefing screen predicts LGAV winds 154@04 while the report screen shows 25@04. Why this difference? Using the "Refresh" button on the briefing screen does not bring the winds…
