Servers seem to be still having problems with no/slow response, and response is very erratic - now you see it, now you don't. Time is 091811 1130 GMT. DJ

I have been wrestling with a problem even after verifying Jims settings were the same as mine. When I am in FSX with ASE running, the weather "flickers". More specifically, every 5-10 seconds the visibility and wind, (and no doubt temperature) changes back and forth. This does not happen when I run FSX without starting ASE. When viewing my aircraft from the outside (especially at cruising altitude) I can clearly see the planes nose being deflected by winds, then when the weather flickers, it will fly straight and true, before it flickers again and I can see the planes nose displaced by a sudden re-emergence of wind. Clouds also come and go when the weather flickers. Visib…

Hello Dont know if this is an issue with the PMDG 737 NGX or ASE, cruising at FL300 between YBCG- YSSY with Radar Contact and ASE real weather and flight plan DWC weather setting, waypoint winds for MSO were 261@81 (-41) assuming the -41 is celcius from ASE but the TAT display in the NGX was only -15 at FL300. pretty sure it was not correct for the remainder of the flight, not sure what is causing such a large temp difference Wayne

hey guys, I bought a new hardrive and had to reinstall my FSX.ASE ran without any problems on my client notebook before the fresh installation. After installing FSX on the server machine (same system as before Windows 7...), ASE brings up that "Database write/corruption problem: Your station database files could not be updatet. Please make sure sharing is propeerly setup if using an netw orked configuration.Proper ASE operation is not possible. Please restart ASE to attempt database reset."I really think that I share the proper folders on the server (FS) machine, which are the "AppData/Romaning/FSX" and the FSX program folder.I read about permission settings, so I checked …

gday this is my first post.I use actskyadv with fs9 and rex textures.its very unrealistic to have clouds at this altitude, maybe just some high cirrus would be okay.do i have to change something in actskyadv options or within fs9 itself? any advice would be welcome

I have been concentrating lately on setting up ASE SP3 to eliminate the S Turns associated with aircraft like the PMDG 737NGX and the like. I am now reasonably happy with ASE in combination with FSUIPC wind smoothing. However, I only fly 'big tins' 50% of the time, the other half I fly VFR at 3000 - 4000 ft. I understand using Standard Mode causes a few problems like stutters and inconsistent cloud redraws etc. Can anyone please suggest a good setting for low level VFR flying, possibly using both ASE and FSUIPC if necessary. Also just an idea for any future version of ASE the ability to select two very different settings with the click of a button for either IFR or VFR,…

Hi all. What would I need to change in my settings to get smooth cloud transitions while ensuring the weather at the destination is accurate? Thanks.

This is something I've noticed previously in ASA and now in ASE. I now have sp3. The problem is that the atis reports winds at the altitude and location I am flying instead of the ground level weather. On a flight today the wind was 156 at 14 at 7000, and ASE showed accurately the metar was 038 at 10G19 at the destination. The destination atis was reporting 156 at 14 resulting in an active runway 17. As I descended the wind changed back to right direction on the atis at around 1900. ATC still had me landing on a my requested ils to 35, but wanted me to circle to 17. I do not have DWC enabled.

When I use ASE for flights into Aerosoft's LPMA (madiera), the wind goes around in circles. Tried it several days on the trot now but always, as I get down to around 2000ft or so, the wind direction starts rotating full clockwise circles, taking 3-4 seconds per 360* rotation, and just keeps going. Makes for VERY interesting approches I can tell you. Any ideas what might be going on? Thanks

Hi Jimas you probably know Vatsim recently changed their servers to this new address http://status.vatsim.net/Is this the reason why when I refresh the weather ASE never loads the Vatsim weather ? (I fly always online),and if it is what can I do to enable again the Vatsim weather. Thanks in advance Vincenzo Musumeci

Had a hard drive crash last week on client computer running ASE. I upgraded to Windows 7 with new hard drive now when I attempt to load ASX and do the upgrades again to ASE I get the SP1 not found message. Has anyone actually solved this problem. Have searched for hours and most of the stuff is old. Need a little help here! Never had this problem before.

Hi. I discover that when using "Force ATC Wind Lock" in FSX, the current wind information at 'Shift+Z tab' in FSX does not tally with what is shown in ASE. For eg. ASE reported wind speed 1kt, but at the "Shift+Z" tab in FSX, the lowest wind speed shown is 6kt. Whereas if "Force ATC Wind Lock" is unchecked, the information shown in FSX tally with that in ASE. Weather settings at FSUIPC 4.7 is off and WeatherReadFactor=0. Is there any necessary adjustment to this? Thanks=)

Hi,In brief I have the following problem when just about decision height, the aircraft veers off the ILS and becomes uncontrollable FS9.1FsnavigatorFSUIPC registered version 3.98Active Sky EvolutionWilco 737 400 with BA liveryEGKK ExtremeEGLL Extreme So I flown from DTTA To EGKK using the 737, I am all set up on the approach using full ILS, then prior to touch down the aircraft drops a wing and looses control. I have deleted the fs9.cfg file and regenerated it but still the same problem , system defraged regulary Windows 7Quad core 2 Q6600Geoforce GTX460SE Any suggestions appreciated Frank

I do not experience any turbulence. I have followed ASE setting suggestions found in other threads related to the PMDG S-turning problem. I am running FSX on a dedicated machine with a remote machine running ASE, EFB and other support programs. I am running a registered version of FSUIPC. Any suggestions?

Please forgive me if I'm missing this in the manual, but I am still finding my feet with this addon, and only just beginning to 'play' with some settings. Is it possible to 'set' gradual visibility layers with ASE, so that it doesn't (like FSX weather) jump from 1mile to 40miles when climbing through the transition for example? Also, when using different vis layers with FSX weather, the lower layer is ignored by any later layers etc. So, if there's a low vis layer up to 2000ft then clearer, it becomes clear to AGL once over 2000ft. Can ASE stop this happening? Thanks

Hi I currently have FSX on my main (desktop) computer and ASE on a networked laptop. Also on this laptop I have WideFS which I used when I had FS2004 installed. For some reason I can't run ASE on its own without having FSUIPC's wind smoothing activated, don't know why its just my system, otherwise the upper winds remain the same as ground level. Anyway using FSUIPC wind smoothing fixes that, so I am now happy. I know ASE uses Simconnect but as I also use FSUIPC to change the weather should I also run WideFS on the client computer or does FSUIPC do its magic within FSX. Glen

Hello Jim, I installed SP3 and wanted to try some IMC manoevers ... I open the MAP, take the "Instrument conditions" and drag it onto my position (with a range over 1000)Message is coming up, that weather will be apllied and shortly after the visibility reduces as it should till it is zero visibility. When zero visibility is reached, then visibility "plopps" back to CAVOK. Nevertheless in the "Report" I have 0 sm visibility. From this moment on, I can't refresh or change the weather to real...I have to close ASE. When I try via WX config, then I run into a similar problem:entring zero is possible, visibility goes down, but after reaching its desired visibility its clearin…

Hi there, Flying in to KDEN or any high altitude airport for that matter I notice that the clouds are hanging almost on the ground. ASE is reporting visibility at 10 miles and the lowest ceiling few at 8000, on final the clouds were at 800 agl. Any fix for this. I think I read somewhere in these forums that there was not a fix but could not find the post, so sorry if I am reposting but would like to fix this. I am running FSX with DWC set in ASE. Thanks.

What can I do to mitigate the problem indicated in the picture below?I am using FEX and ASE.ThanksFabio

Why is it that in order for ASE to work as advertised i need to purchase another program? ASE alone creates small erratic winds/turbulance changes that prevent proper function of any heavy metal i own, aircraft with a sensitive FMC will experience problems using any of the modes available within ASE with turbulance enabled right?I spend 50 USD on an advance weather program which then emediately suggests i disable some of its features (turbulance/winds) in order for it to function properly? I can understand the limitations of FSX and feel for the developers that have to struggle with the beast it is, but if Peter Dawson can somehow magicly make Weather and many other thing…

When setting cirrus cloud generation and stratus cloud occurrence to zero, will ASE still generate these clouds when they actually exist in real life? In other words, are these sliders for 'extra clouds' that don't exist in real life or are the sliders there because the METARS don't specify when Cirrus/Stratus clouds when they happen in real life so we use these sliders to make up for it? Thanks.
