Hi guys ,I fly online at all the time but since I updated the last build (647) the metar never matches the departure and arrival airports with the Vatsim weather even when I click the refresh button. Any idea why this is happening and solution to the inconvenienceP.S. in the general options I have Vatsim weather checked.Thanks for your help!

Jim A couple of questions about this option from the Briefing page. 1. Does the calculation of the average wind direction and speed include the origin and destination airports? 2. Is the wind direction and speed by flight plan waypoints determined from the altitude that is entered by the user once the flightplan is imported or is it the closest level that is available from the coded report? Is 36000 somehow calculated from 34000 and 39000 or is the 34000 direction and speed used? Thank youMichael Cubine

Hi everyone, and thank you to HiFi for a great product! I just recently came back to flight simming and ASE was one of the first products I purchased after a great experience with it in FS9. I've searched around a bit for answer, but can't seem to find one, so here is my question... when flying at night and into what appears to be a haze or fog layer, the haze or fog lightens everything so I have a contrast between the objects in the distance (clouds or horizon). In other words, things that would normally be obscured become visible (albeit just the outline) in the layer. I am currently running FSX with sp 2, ASE with sp 3. Hello Jim et al I'm somewhat confused about how to setup ASE across a network. The manual states I must edit the SimConnect files, but concerned that doing so will cause issues with other addons I run on the client PC. This the currect SimConnect setup. Is this no good for ASE?

Had this question in another post of mine, thought i had it figured out but turns out its just not seeming to work. Ok i have Force to Sim Time set in ASE, i have tried running weather from Aug 31st at around the same time of day, and everytime i get an error with ASE stating my clock is set wrong and 3000+ weather stations are being ignored ect... I have tried ticking and unticking in FSX Use system time for Free flight, which didnt help sadly. Cant think of anything else to try here, i am getting the ASE error anytime i select Force sim time and atempt a previous Date and or Time. My systems time showing is correct so hmm... Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

This is probably stupidly simple but I've always wondered, when my flight (any given flight) continues past 00.00z, what happens to the wx generated by ASE B647? I almost always fly using on line but historic weather data. Does the weather automatically roll into the next 24 hr period or simply go back to that time but on the same date I'm flying?

If i fly a few thousand feet above my Visiblity Graduation level, all the clouds disapear and its just very hazy below me, which looks great but being able to see all the way to ground level when im supposed to be flying over clouds doesnt. Is this working as intended or am i missing something Also i am having an issue with "Force to Sim Time"I get a message saying my clock is wrong, i read in the forums that you cant select a date/time thats in the future but i am not doing that, only changing time back a few hours for daylight?

Hi @ all!After one year using FSX + ASE with all different versions and updates, I can say: Only the DWC mode is working without performance problems. All other modes are resulting in performance drops from 40 to 4 fps during the weather refresh. (Not flyable) When is a resolution for this problems available?

hi, In the map display I can see the wind direction for a selectable flight level but not the wind speed. Where is it? I have not found any information about that in the manual (I am not saying it is not in the manual....). Thank you.

Hei, Somehow ASE isn't using the write time. I am using "Force to Sim time"; normally i would fly the same day but at a former time. So lets say real time is 30 August 21:00 and Sim time is 30 August 11:00. What i see in the "Active Date and Time" field is 30 August 21:00. And the Metar is as well later then 11:00. (ENBR 301825Z, or something).So I guess this is not as it should be, right? I got as well the warning that several stations were suppressed because my clock wasn't set correctly. I am running ASE on a second pc connected via Simconnect. Otherwise everything works fine. I would very much appreciate any help or advice.

Yesterday I was on my way from Kbos to Kmia (pmdg md11)and when I contacted atis close to Miami ATC (default) informed me that the temp was -29C. Is there anyway to fix this ? Thanks Vic

Hello Folks, I have some questions about Historical weather data in ASE. This question relates to Online Historical Data. If I select a GMT hour for a particular date, does the weather then 'play back' the METARs until the flight finishes? So for example, if I select 29 August 2011 GMT 0100 to start and my flight is for 3 hours, will the weather at the destination be what ever it was at GMT 0300? I have in the past been using the Offline Static Data and, using the example above, would have selected "Multiple Dates/Times" and then downloaded 29 August 2011 0100; 29 August 2011 0200; 29 August 2011 0300 and 29 August 0400 (in case of any holding instructions...). HiI am trying to get ASE to find FSX on the server...the client is Windows 7...server Windows XP PRO,Looking at the ASE log text....( I think ) it shows as reading the server fine except for one item,Which is the My Documents path value..it shows just a = sign after the value. I do not know how to correct this, ASE starts and runs fine....but nothing shows up in FSX and seems not to be finding FSX,A1 traffic test shows it is connected to FSX , My not knowing computors..does not help the situation,I will try and sent a copy of the log Any and all help would be appreciated, Best RegardsDon Nelson

I tried setting historical weather in ASE so I could have the Hurricane Irene. I took awhile but at last it showed up. I went to the airport MYGW which I could see inside the Hurricane on ASE map. And also from ASE map I could find the wind being 85 kt at MYGW. First thing it took rather long time before the default weather changed and I could see the sky clouded and thunder around me but no rain at the airport. I got messages in FSX telling me that ASE updated weather.But the wind remained calm both according to FSX ATIS and the data in FSX mao view. And clearly I could see the wind being calm while taking of. I have installed the latest servicepack.

Hi Jim! I did review your recommended settings. I find, however, that flying with DWC is unrealistic, IMO. Got to be a better way. I have been plagued with issues that FSX was not displaying what ASE was sending it. I did finally re-install SDK 2 with Simconnect 2 and that seemed to help some of the inconsistencies. I do have registered FSUIPC v4.6 and have experimented with wx setting on and off but I found that when I open WX menu on FSX it most often shows weather correctly in sync with ASE but not being active in FSX flight UNTIL I click the OK button. HiI am currently using AS 6.5 in FSX but I am not happy the the haze depiction. I have tried changing the settings but I seem to be flying with unlimited views or in a fog. I mainly fly airliners so I am generally at around FL350 but I have either a perfect view of the ground (except for the scattered clouds)or the haze layer completely completely obccures it. Does ASE give a better and more realistic haze level?Perhaps I should say that I download the current weather and when I fly in my local area where there is a haze in the distance which reduces visibilty from around 20 miles onwards AS 6.5 still shows me flying in a fog. Would upgrading to ASE be worthwhile? ThanksP…

HI,I love this program except for one problem. The interpolation is not accurate. In New Zealand where not many station are downloaded the interpolation uses completely irelevant stations even when reporting stations are close by. Surely it would not be hard to improve this by giving close by stations which are reporting true weather Metars more weighting.Thankyou

Just started using ASE, after Using Activesky6.5 for ages with no problems. FSX Freezes as soon as the Green Bar pops up to show its updating, and stutters, until all stations are updated. I searched the forums, and Jim, says to make sure virus software is not scanning the files. Which files? I'm using AVAST. Any other ideas, or does this sound like the culprit. Thanks.

Hello,Today I purchased the download version of Active Sky Advanced to upgrade my presently installed Active Sky X. The installation seemed to go without a problem and when prompted I entered the license key provided and this was successful. However when I started the program for the first time it required to activate the license during start up. This did not go well at all - I was online and for some reason the license was not able to be activated and consequently I am unable to use the upgraded version - rather disappointing!.FYI - I use Vista 32bit with FSX.I have retained a printout of the invoice dated 5th February 2009.Regds. Hello all, I've searched out the posts here and actually found something dating back to 2007; however, it really doesn't cover my issue. My current problem is that I want to get ASE to run on a second laptop using a wireless connection. I feel I have followed all the steps in the instruction manual but there is still a problem and it will not connect. ASE, SP 3, FSX acceleration, W7 64. RW metar out at 1700Z, ASE metar time 1600Z, over one hour old at the time of download, while in flight it updated to the current 1700Z, then it went back to the 1600Z. I am not using VATSIM Wx. Any ideas? Thanks

After I updated ASE to SP3 there has been Ase weather updated for x stations message rolling alltime on top of my FSX screen, how can I disable it? Now it seems that it tells me constantly when its updating no matter where im flying...
