I have a question regarding the option "Suppress On Ground".Right now I'm using the Standard mode for weather, and the disadvantage of this mode are the stutters. So I was thinking, will the option "Suppress on Ground" prevent the stutters from happening on the ground? As there are no updates/weather writes being processed?I already have the suppression ceiling enabled to prevent stutters when landing. But now I'm searching for a way to prevent the stutters that can occur during a takeoff.Jon

JimAt the origin and destination airports, the wind direction in the METAR does not agree with FSX ATIS, Shift Z, 122.00 or 122.025. There could be a diffference of 5-20 degrees. What causes this? Does dynamic rate of change have anything to do with this difference?Thank youMichael Cubine

Hi everybodyI'm thinking of giving WideFS a go on an old laptop I've got. As I'm out in the boonies I only have dialup on my PC. With ASE on the laptop (this is the client PC, right? Learning curve approaching :( ) can it still update the weather through the FS9 PC, or does the internet connection have to be moved to the old laptop?Cheers, SLuggy

  6. Hi,I´m using ASE + XGraphics (my System: FSX, Nvidia GTX460, UTXEurope + GEXEurope). The Wheather Depiction at low altitude is pretty nice - but at higher altitudes i think that is boring.I see a bland accumulation of too little cumulus clouds side by side (my set is 20 cloudlayers and snapshot based on the actual flightplan is always installed).I´m missing the complete cloud cover situation at overcast conditions - what steps in typically a few minutes after take off - as known in real flights if you can see the cloud blanket till the end of the horizon and it is looking like an ocean. At the end of the horizon i never see the characteristic bank of clouds..? (visibility i…

Hi, can someone out there please help me? I am experiencing a problem with ASE in DWC mode and ATC(default) runwy selection when flying a flightplan! For insrance, this morning I flew one from CYEG - CYXS, and ASE reported the wind as 190\11 - indicating the operational runway must be RWY15! However at about 90 dme east of CYXS FSX ATC started to take me down, at about 70 dme gave me RWY24 as the operational runway because the winds aloft at that stage(+- FL240) were 290\24!!!!!! ATC wind lock is ticked and saved in the options menu - but still ATC gives me AND AI directions to wrong RWY based on winds aloft -NOT surface winds!!! ARE THERE ANYWAY TO SOLVE THIS IN DWC MODE…

Hello, Recently I purchased ASE, which seems to be a great and powerful piece of software, but as many people seem to have experienced I have also had some problems with wind shifts in aircraft such as the PMDG 744, MD-11 and Level-D 767. I have only flown a couple of flights since buying ASE (as I had to go off on holiday with no access to FS) and the weather depiction was generally fine. For avoiding the rather annoying wind shifts I purchased the registered FSUIPC for FSX and changed the FSUIPC file to what was recommended here on the forums and what was listed in the readme file, as well as modifying the FSX.cfg file by changing the turbulence scale. This seemed t…

Hi Guys,I bought ASE few days ago and I get great WX-Depiction along my routes :( (DWC trough FSUIPC-WindSmoothing).I`m playing around with the Options (e.g. Force Dest.WxZone which works very well, at 30-40 miles I get nearly the exact Winds/Temps as filed from the Dest.METAR).Installed the latest Build 646 and in the Options appears a new one "Force ATC Wind Lock", so I`ve read that it is a new Option for RC-Users regarding RWY-assign butwho can me explain what it does (force) because I didnt find too much here in the Forum !Sorry my poor English and Regards !!

Hey Jim,Hope you are enjoying your summer break!!! I have a quick question for you. I just upgraded the FS machine, hence the FS machine is getting downgraded to WideFSClient box and the old wideFS/ASE box is being retired.Over the years I purchased all versions of Activesky/ASA/ASE but always did the upgrade versions. Does this mean I have to re-install ASV6.5, then ASA, THEN ASE to get back to my current setup? It is almost enough to convince me to just buy the full version ;) Just curious before I de-commission the old box today. Thanks in advance, all the best!-Paul

Hi folks, just wondering if there was any conclusive solution to the s-turn issues with PMDG aircraft? I've had a search through the forum but there's so many posts with little suggestions that may or may not work, that it's hard to find what is relevant.Having just moved to FSX from FS9, I'm experiencing this issue for the first time. I was unable to complete a flight today with ASE turned on as the 744's reaction to the issue was so violent that the autopilot lost complete control of direction. I tried having a play around in FSUIPC to disable cloud turbulence ect, but nothing seemed to help.

Ok I've searched for at least an hour now without finding anything that helps my situation. I'm currently without the internet and have to wait until wednesday for the technician to activate the online signal for my new apartment. I'm currently writing from the pc of my work.I can't fly without Active Sky and especially without some real weather. I don't need the current up to date weather I just want some realistic weather and be it from the year 1925.I was smart enough to save a real weather file, but flying that over and over again get's quite boring..... my question is... is there some database where I can download some old weather files to load them up in Active Sky …

Over the past couple days I've noticed the metars from El Salvador have one extra digit in the QNH info. Instead of Q1012 it reads Q10125 for an altimeter of 2989. It seems FSX aircraft do not go above 32.01 or 1084. Its not only an ASE problem as the default FSX weather engine also shows the same issue. The only weather program that doesn't show this is FSWxlite but maybe they are reading older metars.Just an FYI and hoping they fix their issues soon.Sean

Hi.Every now and then I get this problem. It happens independent of the RMR VATSIM INJECTION and if there is or not wind information.Usually at destination. The option "Force destination weather" has no interference on the problem.Note the METAR has no wind, but the despiction uses winds 250 degrees at 5 knots.I press refresh, but the despiction does not change.I wait for 10 min (the update interval set in options), METAR changes, but despiction does not.Any idea? Thanks.

  19. For some reason, ASE doesn't seem to be generating winds aloft, during ANY trans-Atlantic flight. I have disabled winds in FS-Inn and also increased the range of wind reporting stations en route (in ASE). I still receive no winds aloft; therefore, my TAS and Groundspeed are exactly the same. Sure could use some help here, as I'd love to have the realism flying those long, trans-Atlantic routes. Any help or suggestions is appreciated. Thanks. UPS100/FDC459

Hi After recently reinstalling FS9 i have a problem in as much as ASE will down load all the weather but when i click the fly now button nothing happens, the ASE front page will just remain on my desktop, forcing me to start FS9 manually but then only to find that no weather has been imported anyway, use it with FSX and there is no problem. On both sims i have the latest version of FSUIPC installed and registered. Cheers Shaun

TeamFirstly, I searched for a similar topic / discussion to no avail, so will begin as follows.Using ASA (FSX) in real time with 10min download intervals, I find that at "regional airports" throughout OZ & NZ, metars with advanced interpolations are reported which are in most ways "similar" to TAF's - wind direction, cloud, visibility, temperature etc - and what one expects. However, at more than a curious few (40-50%) of airports at any & all the time, the wind speed is reported as calm, not as one expects for the TAF and not as per real world sources such as the Australian BOM airport data & one's own local knowledge - where for example, on a warm summer afte…

I have been simming for a long time and this is a new one to me. Yesterday I was on a flight from EGAA to EGGP in the IFly 737-700. I was also running Active Sky 6.5 and FDC Live Cockpit and registered version of FSUIPC. I had loaded the flight in the FMC and had reached cruise altitude. If I remember correctly I had not yet tuned EGGP ATIS Popped out to make a coffee and on returning just caught this message before it disappeared from the screen. FSUIPC ADV Display "Expected Runway 27". I think it was an FSUIPC generated message. It was in a blue box.Was this message produced by Active Sky ? Or was it one of the other programmes? And indeed Runway 27 was the active runwa…

Am using As 6.5 on a laptop with Ifly737 in fs2004. Normally have no prob. I fly out of KSAN and this time of year usally have overcast conditions with cumulus which we all know are hard on FPS. My question is how would I go about using AS then when it is loaded and I see the cloud cover is just to much for my machine that I could change the cloud cover in FS but stll keep all the wind and turb data for my route. Thanks for any help. Hope this made sense.Brad
