Since I got FS9 and this computer (Hp Laptop, 2.3 duel core,3 gig DDR3, Radeon 4250. win7 64) I have not been able to run real weather. Even medieum cloud coverage would send fps to single didgits. I've always had 128 DXT3 clouds checked in ASG. Today just messing around I unchecked DXT3 and used 128x128 normal. Just flew in heavy overcast and while at some points in the clouds my frames would drop a little but nothing like before to where I couldn't fly. I thought just the oposite was suppose to be true. Very confused. Anyone else seen this. ThanksBrad

Have a question on the texture size in ASv6.5. When I look in C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9\Modules\ASGraphics\Textures\Clouds\Solid Cumulus the only textures I see there are all 512x512. In asg I have 128x128 dxt3 options checked. Are the 128x128 getting loaded or are the 512 getting loaded? Since I don't see any 128x128 clouds in the above folder just wanted to make sure. ThanksBrad

Hello Hifi,This usually happens after takeoff and descending , the wind sometimes becomes wierd and unaccurate. I can see the wind information from shift+z that its keeping changing back to what it's normal to be which means ASE is doing its job, but for some reasons it's being limited to be keeping at the same figure. I solve the problem everytime by openning a program which means a new window is opened and then closed for example FSUIPC, it's back to normal immediately after the program is closed. I'm using DWC.Cheers,Frank Cao

Today I flew from KDFW to KMSP with the LDS 767. Winds at DFW were reported by RC ATIS as 165/24 which was the forecast winds from the National Weather service. When I arrived at MSP I received an ATIS that the winds were 170/24, which is 180 degrees away from the forecast winds of 330/07. Checking ASE reported winds they were 330/7. I have attached a pdf file of my ASE log. Jim if you or Damian can look at this and let me know what error made this issue occur I would really appreciated this. This is the first time I have seen this kind of problem in over 20 flights with ASE and using FSX.ThanksBob JohnsonDTW

Hi all I have a problem of freezing/CTD at KSEA. I think it is when I use ASE, after a few minutes the sim just stops dead in it's tracks. On more than one occasion I have run FS2004 without ASE and all is fine, could it be a corrupt texture in my Flight Environment program? I have checked my AI as best I can for that area I.E Hoizon,Alaska for duplicate Air Files and the like and made sure all the textures display OK. When I use ASE any where else I never suffer from this problem.Any IdeasRegardsNic Jackson

Today, I discovered that I was not getting ASE weather to FSX. FS9 was fine. My discovery was as follows:I checked everything in the manual for setup and found nothing out of line. Many months ago, thanks to Jim's help, we determined that I had my "IP Address" rather than "Network IP Address" entered in my Simconnect.XML and Simconnect.cfg files. We corrected this and everything has worked swimingly since September, 2009. The proper address for all of this time has been: xxx.xxx.x.44An examination of "Control Panel>Network Internet Connections>Network connections>Local Area Connection>Status>Support" displayed an address ofxxx.xxx.x.47.Edited the files in qu…

Hi,in the old ASV there was an option, that the programm writes the weather data into the "world-wide-weather" from the FS9.In my flights with FS9 and ASE there is no weather changing over the seas.I knew, there are no weatherstations over the ocean, but what is with "world-Wide-Weather" option with ASE and FS9.Dis ASE not use this?thanks,Alti

Hello ASE-Team.look at this:My Route from Linz to jerba1 Pic: You can see, that is "interpolation":2 Pic: Your rendering in ASE, only one minute later:3 Pic: Only 4 minutes later; ASE make it like david copperfield:the clouds in front suddenly gone ayway:4 Pic: a vew moments later, the clouds are here...sorry, but if you say, that is "real weather depiction" ??? i do not think so.i give you a chance to finde the error.ASElog is here..HELP please, so its not happy to fly with ASE...Alti

After I click on Refresh AI Aircraft, the following is shown on ASE's main window:The Log shows this:You can see, it continues just fine, but it's now 12:57 (sitting at the gate) and ASE's main window still shows "FS flight is not active, pausing weather writes until ready status is active...". A new message will appear eventually. But at the same time, Depiction Output Active is not displayed either, so the average user can only guess as to ASE's activities.A bit of a nitpick, but I think this could be cleared up in a future update. Just showing an additional line will do and of course the Depiction Output Active could be on all the time it is active, but I think that wa…

Hello! I have problem with my ActiveSky 6.5 version and FS9. I do and set everything as described in FAQ on this forum. When I run FS, AS says that FS is not yet connected. I've read a lot about it on this forum. I've installed 3 or four different FSUIPC versions but it didn't help, even with the newest one - 3.98. Further more, I've tried to delete key file from modules folder, and turn off firewall. However, it's still disconnected. I dont know exactly what else I can do. Help if you can, please ;)Thanks

Hi, I am using AS6.5 and fs9.I have a problem that fs9 is not recieving the weather information from AS. It happens for certain weather stations in Poland: EPBY and EPLL. There is a weather rapport in AS, for instance, cloudy, but in fs there is nothing but clear sky, no wind, max. visibility and 15 degress celsius.Any Idea what to do ?Thanks :)

Hi,I've seen this problem *everytime* I fly into an airport with very low visibility, so I've already concluded that it must be some kind of bug *OR* what the developers intented is very different to what I expect to see, let me explain:I have ASE with Service Pack 2 (B642) installed and fly exclusively in DWC mode and the 'Force Destination Wx Zone' option ENABLED. I also load the flightplan into ASE everytime I fly. Generally speaking I'm very pleased with ASE and I would say it is (at least for me and based on the configuration I have/use) working flawlessly, so no complains. I do however, have noticed that every time I fly into an airport with very low visibily *or* w…

Hello Hifi-Team,on my flight departing from Madeira i noticed that the ground winds were quite strange. The (interpolated) station LPFU at the aiport showed 117/08 the (non-interpolated) station LPMA 2 miles away showed 040/09.There has to be something wrong with the weighting of the distances of interpolated stations!Interpolation details for LPFU:RegardsNepo

Jim,Based on a tip in the RC forum, I downloaded Build 645 and installed it. (The installation seemed to go OK). But when I loaded up ASE, it indicates that it's B644, not B645. Also, I don't see the "Force ATC Wind Lock" option, as discussed in the read-me, in the ASE version to which I just updated. Was this Build mislabeled, and where can I find the Force ATC Wind Lock option? I checked in both General and Wind options. Bob________________________________________Edit: I subsequently found a reference, in the same RC post, to Build 646! So I downloaded that Build and installed it and now ASE does state that it is B646. I also located the new "Force ATC Wind Lock" …

Some of us simmers own a separate soundcard, and I´m wondering if Active Sky´s ATIS sounds could be routed through a specific audio device in the same manner as in FS2Crew Voice Commander versions? My opinion is that It would add an extra bit of realism.ATIS can sometimes be very difficult to hear, because the planes in the simulator have vastly different sound volumes, and adjusting volume levels all the time is a PITA, truth to be told. Checking the exact information from AS window isn´t a option, I´m afraid.

Greetings all,I recently installed ASE, and am considering buying REX, because many are recommending adding their graphics. My question is this: How exactly does one use those snapshots? Do they create better cloud formations? Are they used for specific themes? (ie, if I just want to fly using real-time actual weather, what will the snapshots do?) Or, are the snapshots used independently from the "real time" weather, for instance setting up flying under certain predetermined weather conditions? As you can tell, I'm just a bit confused. Any assistance would be appreciated. Many thanks,Ron

Is depiction output active supposed to be constantly on even while sitting still at the gate? It seems to me that its always on and the second it disappears it's back on. Is this normal? Automatic Downloads is offThanks,JosephASEFS9

I've recently installed Fly Tampa's Kai Tak scenery. When I start ASE in standard mode, the wind is very different to what they should be.The report page always lists the nearest airport as VHHH, even though VHHX is in the station data.Obviously, the VHHX METAR is automatically generated by ASE, and is pretty much a copy of the weather at VHHH.Whilst the QNH and temperature is OK, the wind is usually very different.Today, the wind at VHHH and VHHX was 100/12. However, the wind in FSX was 180/5. Then the direction kept on shifting around, never really staying still, although the speed stayed constant at 5.Switching the DWC solved this issue, but I would prefer to use stand…

Hi all, I've been running into the problem of hearing the weather at my aircraft's location instead of the weather at the airport when I tune an airport's ATIS/AWOS. I'm running ActiveSky Advanced with FSX SP2. Do I need to forego the published frequencies and just use the ASA ATIS freq?Any help would be appreciated!Nate

Yesterday flying out of Tofino, B.C. (CYAZ) at about 08:30 (local), the METAR included Bkn023CB. I have the suppress thunderstorm switch selected to ON meaning that even with a report of CB's in the area, thunderstorms should not occur. However, I was getting a fairly "healthy" dose of lightning and thunder throughout the flight. I checked into the manual to see if I had another switch/option activated that might override that switch but couldn't find anything. Is there something I'm missing here, and if not, can you tell me what info you need to investigate this please?FSX, ASE (latest updates), Windows7-64, 4 GB RAMThanks!

Sitting on the ground, I noticed the weather seems to be resetting every 4-6 seconds. For example,it is light snow -SN at CYQA presently.
