OK, this has been addressed once (Rain at subzero temps), but I think this is something that either needs to be better addressed, or if there has been a fix, I'd like to have reference made to it so I can download it. In greater than 50% of the cases when flying in northern Canada and I receive an interpolated METAR (made from within ASE), it includes precipitation that is almost invariably in the form of rain. Last weekend I was on a run from Sioux Lookout (Ontario - CYXL) to Cat Lake (CYAC). CYAC did not have a full report, but I believe there was at least a partial METAR. The temperatures were listed as -17C and dewpoint -28C. ASE inserted the precip, but as rain, not …

I don't know why when using FSX (direct weather control) the active runway is 180 degrees wrong. A flight to KORD tonight with winds at (shift z) 050 at 15 gusts to 20 (4R). Traffic is all landing with the wind. When I select 'standard mode' I get stutters so I'm about ready to shelve ASE. Thanks.Bob..

I just purchased the Real Turbine and would like to add the X Gauge to it, but it only has 2 windows, so the X gauge wizard skips it because the Wizardis set at the default to insert the gauge in Window number 5. I'm a little hesitant to change the insert to window # 3 because I don't want it to add a duplicate gauge to all of the planes that have it already in window #5. Anybody know how to do this. Thanks for your help.Bob

I'm flying over Spain right now, and every interpolated station has wrong winds aloft. Southerlies rather than Northerlies. Every non-interpolated station has the right weather. I think this looks like a simple mistake in the calculation. It looks like HiFi programmers are taking simple averages of the directions for the winds. So, if you have winds from 020, 040, 340, and 320, you'll get 180 as the average. I suspect these are weighted by distance, but you'll still get the massive error, like what I'm seeing in the program. This is a pretty common mathematical problem (vectors in trigonometry), with a very easy solution. But could this be the source of the error in i…

I have just started having a problem today with ASv6 crashing FS9. I've not changed anything since my last flight apart from new graphics card drivers. The problem is as follows.I load FP into ASv6 to get weather for flight planning.I then load up FS9 with the plane I want to fly in the correct loaction.I then minimise FS and got to ASv6 panel. I hit the "refresh" button to refresh the weather. It runs through the list of airports in the "writing station data". Once it gets to the end of this I get a message from FS9 saying to has stopped working and it then crashes. What is causing this to happen?Andy S

Jim,Here´s a screenshot at HongKong. ASE indicates winds are 40@3, FSX reports 171@2. I waited a while as winds were fluctuating, but it never got close to 40@3. I am using FSUIPC 4.663, got weather settings off, ASE 462.Hope you can help. Thanks,Menno

Just thought of this and forgive me if this feature already exists.ASE is a big part of deciding where I want to fly. I almost always fly passenger jets on semi realistic routes. I like my origin and destination to have interesting weather. I always start at an airport that I have add on scenery for and I like to land with add on scenery as well. I always have a tough time trying to match the weather with the appropriate scenery and the appropriate aircraft with a paint for an appropriate airline.Similar to using the weather finder and limiting the search to a specific prefix, it would be really cool if I could make a text file with all of the airport codes that I would c…

Hello,at 18:12(UTC), today, at OMDB you can observe a typical problem ASE has, when getting corrupted weather data.ASE METAR: OMDB 201500Z 03008 010V080 CAVOK 23/15 Q101 NOSIGAs You can see, the data of the barometric pressure are corrupted, the last digit is missing. So ASE interprets this data with 23.68 inches / 0800 mb, absolutely low pressure. Real world METAR: OMDB 201600Z 03006KT 350V070 CAVOK 23/15 Q1016 NOSIG.(source:http://www.wunderground.com/Aviation/index.html?query=OMDB)If there is an inflight situation (f.i. East Africa, over Ethopia) with only a few weather stations, and some of them don´t have submitted actual reports, ASE is interpolating the weather depi…

Hello all,WIth Active Sky X there would be one green popup telling me that ASX weather is being applied and that's it, whereas with Active Sky Evolution this popup keeps showing up to tell me its updating, etc... is there a way where I can disable this popup? It's rather annoying. Thanks!

Hi Jim,This is not a complaint, but more of a general curiosity question on how ASE works. Those interpolated stations displayed in ASE...are the interpolation algorithms generated by the program (ASE) or are those virtual stations generated by the HIFI weather servers and sent to ASE in the weather download?I'm just curious because of recent questions regarding the "north/south winds aloft", you said "there were changes made", but there was no ASE update. So because of this, I got to wondering if the advanced interpolation algorithms are done at the HIFI servers and ASE reads them from there. Do I have it right? If that's the case, bravo! Take the load off of ASE and ge…

Hello,I've noticed that most of the times but not always the wind displayed using shift-Z is different from what is reported at ASE.I'm using FSX SP2 with latest ASE build 642 (Smooth Cloud Transition) and latest FSUIPC for smoothing purposes, the curious thing is that accessing FSUIPC module and clicking on cancel it seems that restores the wind direction and speeds. How can I fix this to avoid accessing FSUIPC?ThanksPedro L. Let me say at the start I'm using FS9 and ASE Build 638.I was flying the PMDG 737 into Gatwick and there was a 15 to 20kt wind at about 45 degrees to my port nose. This wind took me off the runway line and I found it impossible to get back on the runway until too late, when I had to go around.Although I'm not a RL pilot I have difficulty in believing that an a/craft as large as a 737 could be held off a runway by a wind of this speed. I don't know if the effect is created by the FS engine or ASE but something is being exaggerated IMO.Iain Smith

Hi,I think there is an error in the pressure interpolation. I was flying over the barren western Chinese airspace, and ZLXN was reporting a QNH of 963, when all of the interpolation stations were reporting around 1006-1024. A quick look at the interpolation data, and VYMD was reporting Q.1007 (METAR time 130730Z).I'm guessing that little fullstop there messes up the interpolation. Can you fix this on the server side too? (like you did with the winds aloft?)Bryn using Build 642.

Hi, guys. Can i please ask how i use ATIS (for arrivals) in ASE (SP2)?This is my understanding:Enter the departure ID, destination ID, etc. in the Briefing screen.Tune to 122.0 or 122.02(?), and when i am in range, the ATIS will start? Neither frequencies are giving me the runway to use for landing, even though dep and dest are set.So ASE 'knows' what ATIS to give me based on the briefing when i am tuned to one of the above frequencies? So technically i wouldnt need to retune to get both departure AND destination ATIS broadcast?I would like to get the destination ATIS a lot sooner than the default FSX ATIS kicks in! :) What is the range of the ASE ATIS?

Hi Gang,Just wanted to point out a possible bug in setting the winds aloft levels in FSX and ASE B642 in "Standard" mode.I fly usually around the FL200 to FL300 areas, and I have noticed on occasion that the winds and temperatures aloft were not matching ASE. My first thoughts were SimConnect or FSX or FSUIPC, but I have eliminated those possibilities as I have no problems in areas where the ground level is at or near sea level. I used KCEC as my first example (see Fig 1). As you can see, all the levels are set properly regarding temperatures and winds aloft (FSUIPC Weather Set program used).FIGURE 1Now, I noticed the problems when I was flying over the Canadian prairi…

My FS9 system is an i5 Quad Core with 4gb of memory and an Nvidia GTS-450. I've been running into low frame rates when entering clouds with deep layers. What would be an optimal setting so as not to task the video card to hard and yet keep some semblance of a nice show. Please advise and thanks!Mark

Hello Hifi-Team,in flight i often see on the Reports page of ASE that the winds aloft change more that 90° degrees from station to station. There seems to be an issue with interpolated stations. Here is an example. The MAP screen:The interpolation details:The station details for EDTF:[EDIT: Ooops, i made the circle around the wrong altitude. Should be at 34K.Is it normal? I can post more examples and my config if needed.GreetingsStephan

Settings-Dynamice Rate of Change = 0%, Download Interval = 30 minutes. ASX used to produce breifing screen and launch FSX. No refresh of weather during flight. KLAX-KSEA coded route weather shows KSEA 21010KT A3050. Pick runway 16L and adjust STAR accordingly. ATIS reports KSEA calm A29.92 34R in use. How is this possible when no dynamic rate of change was specified at 0%?Thank youMichael Cubine

I just updated to ASE SP2 the last couple flights are fine during the departure and cruise but when landing the winds are completely wrong, ie landing at KMEM, ASE showed the correct winds 360 @ 12 but in fsx the winds were 180 @ 12, I have seen this before, and when you touch down the winds become correct again, but not in this case, they remain incorrect and stay that way even if I refresh the weather. Im using DWC as always. Anyways I looked at my ASE log for my last flight and just wanted to know if you can see anything wrong, I don't really know what the data means.PS I hate posting all this data but was unsure if I should have emailed it to you, and I figured if the…

Gi, guys, just a quick question:At what altitude do Winds Aloft 'kick in'?I have all the wind sliders at 0, and winds aloft are enabled. I was wondering at which alt would wind return to 0, and winds aloft deactivate. The recent SP2 update for ASE has proven to be much better for me.Thank you for your help.
