Hi everyone, I have been flying plenty of long hauls in the past month and a half with the PMDG MD11 and ASA, and I'm happy to report on my system I have ZERO s-turn issues, even with FSX turbulence ON! I am hoping that the latest FSUIPC working in conjunction with the latest and greatest ASA (build 586) has solved this issue once and for all. I have done quite a few north atlantic crossings between America/Canada and Europe and I wanted to share my settings with others with the hope that they can get similar results.I do not use DWC, but I have FSUIPC handle wind/temp/baro pressure smoothing. I researched these forums to come up with the settings I use, including t…

On Active Sky Evolution, under the brefing page. Is it possible to get ASE to Print Just the brefing. Ive noticed the buttons for Printing the NAV-LOG and brefing. And just the NAV-LOG. But I would only like the Brefing, as i prefer to use the FS-build NAV-LOG.Also, is it possibel to configure the Brefing to only have Certien info.EX I only want METARs/TAFs for my DEP,ARR, And ALT airport. And only SIG/AIRMETS along my route of flightand as a request is there a way to get a ASE entry under the Add-Ons Tab in the FSX menue, clicking it allowing you to do certian things like Refresh AI, Redownload weather info, File a PIREP, or request a METAR without going into windowed m…

Hi, I am using AS 6.5 and found out that when I fly over large sea areas, far from the ground stations, I always get clear skies, while the clouds are only over the ground areas. I check the real weather at that time and see that also on the sea there are clouds. I checked the "Global area write" in the AS options, but it doesn't seem to have effect on this. Is there anything I am missing? Thanks,James

I've been using ActiveSky 6.x for years with FS9. Recently, I upgraded my computer and can now run FSX effectively. Because I've only been focused on FS9 and have been satisfied with AS6.x, I haven't paid much attention to the developments at HiFi Simulations. So, when I did arrive to see what the latest weather engine they had to offer for FSX, I was confused to see two product: Active Sky X and Active Sky: Evolution. My basic question is: which one should I buy? I will still fly FS9. So, ASE seems to have more appeal. But I'm confused as to why ActiveSky offers ASX at all? Also, given the fact that ActiveSky is focused on being a weather engine, what is the best…

At the moment, I'm having to run ASE with DWC on in order to ensure that destination and departure weather are accurate. This comes with the obvious problems with AI using wrong runways, and Radar Contact running very slow, particularly on approach (despite trying the multi-core fix).Whenever I turn DWC off, the destination weather is always messed up., whether it is completely wrong in the first place, or whether it jumps to the departure weather as soon as I've landed. Are HiFi working on a patch for this behaviour? Or is this just something we are going to have to live with?

  9. Approaching the destination, I'm sure we are all trying to determine what the active runway is likely to be from 70 or 80 miles out, at which point you are normally at cruise altitude. The ASE ATIS on 122.02 is giving one set of weather which sounds plausible (i.e. winds of a believable scale and sensible temperatures). This doesn't of course give the active runway. However, this often turns to be wrong, with FSX ATC giving vectors for the opposite runway direction. When I do get the FSX ATIS, I'm being given weather which is clearly at altitude rather than ground level - winds of 50+ knots and temperatures well into the sub zero range - usually of the order of minus 20 or …

  10. I posted this problem in the SimConnect forum but no-one was able to offer a solution (I don't mean this as criticism, BTW). Although I don't think it's an ASX issue, I'll try posting it here if that's OK since someone may have come across it before. Please bear with me.I run FSX (SP2) on a very fast, three months old Windows 7 Home Premium (32 bit) machine. The FSX SDK (SP2) is also installed on it.I used to run ActiveSky X over my home LAN on a Compaq notebook SimConnect client which ran with Windows XP (home edition), without any problems. That notebook died a couple of weeks ago. It's been replaced with a new Compaq notebook that came with Windows 7 Home Premium 64 …

Hi Jim,I installed the unofficial build 611 to see if it eliminated some reported problems. As far as I noticed in the past ASE did not have the shifts in visibility going from limited vis. to unlimited vis. but with the new build I have exactly that problem in FSXI have the REX OverDrive textures recently installed, copied cirrus_overcast3 back into FSX/texture and even unchecked/checked Disable Haze Layer again. Furthermore I have Fog Layer and Enable Vis G&S checked.I am puzzled. Now visibility goes from the set max distance (70 miles in my case) to unlimited and sometimes it will return again, only to change to unlimited again.Have I missed something or is this an…

I am still thinking about getting ASE as an upgrade from ASv6.5 but have a few questions about how it works with other addons.1) Will ASE work with FS Build to get the winds aloft data? This is a big deal as I use FS Build quite a bit as a fuel planner.2) Will ASE work with Ground Environment? I use the weather from ASv6.5 to get GE to use the correct ground textures.3) I have heard some people having issues with ASA and Radar Contact. Are there any issues with ASE adn RCv4?4) When using ASv6.5 I get jumps in weather quite a bit, ie when on approach all looks clear then when I get lower it all clouds over all of a sudden. Does ASE make the weather more "stable" if that's …

Hi,I'm insterested in purchasing XPax to replace FSPax for several different reasons. I'd like to know if you have any videos available showing the product in action? I've looked on YT but wasn't able to come up with anything decent. Also, I understand that the product straight out of the box has voice set of several accents? Can you customize these voice packs to a specific airline or it is what it is and that's it? :)

I am unable to install XGauge on a networked set up o ASE build 572ASE itself installed fine and accepted the mapped drive of FSX on the Server PC (Vista), client is running XP ProWhen I run the XGauge wizard from the client I get an Unhanded exception error. If I continue ASE asks for the location of FSX, I point it to the mapped drive, which ASE already has accepted, and just get the unhanded exception error again. If I copy the wizard exe over to the server PC as soon as I run it I get "XGauge Wizard has stopped working"I should add that all 3 folders are shared with write permissions. Can anyone offer any help please?

After ASX has been started and the approiate information entered or imported, ASX produces a Report Breifing. At the end of that report is Average Wind Speed which includes the direction and speed of the wind for the entire flight at a specific altitude. Are the speed and wind determined by adding together all degrees and wind speed for each waypoint and dividing by the number of wayponts or is the distance between waypoints also considered in the calculation?Thank youMichael Cubine

Hello guys!I am not a WX expert at all! I've recently bought ASE in expectation that it will work in a similar way to its predecessor AS6.5 - in terms of auto-generation of weather themes based on WX-influenced. But it is not that simple... So, I would like to ask for your support to coordinate the work of both REX and ASE in examples. My request is simple.Could you please provide here the numbers/names of REX themes for each ASE configuration, i.e.:UniversalStormyIcy, etc.Is this possible?!? Thank you very much indeed!

I have the "Free" version of FSUIPC and ASE in my current FSX install...Are there any mandatory or recommended settings in either program so that they properly compliment each other or is it best to leave FSUIPC on default settings regarding the weather?I.E.: Is it recommended to use FSUIPC to smooth the winds/weather and not enable "Global" weather in ASE?THANKS!

Hi Jim,Is this a one time discrepancy or solved in a next release?Athens LGAV (FSX), on final winds reported by ASE 020/5. Pilot expected rwy 03 in use. However ATC had 21 in use. Actually I expected the wrong destination winds to be solved in the unofficial releases. But, checking the information FSX used (Shift-Z) learned that wind was 215/5 which accounted for the actual rwy 21 in use. During taxi I checked several times, Shift-Z showed winds 215, ASE report 020.IS this discrepancy still on your to-do-list?Thanks,Menno

Big lightbulb over my head as I read aua668's (now locked) post about ASA and non-US locale settings. Now I understand why FSBUILD winds usually are completely different from what ASA reports: ASA does not properly handle non-US locales. When used with my DK settings, the wx_station_list.txt file is stored in an inconsistent format, with both "," and "." used as the decimal separator in different positions. No wonder FSBUILD cannot parse it properly. Presumably this is the case with any locale that uses delimiters different from those used in the US.I understand from the response to aua668 that HIFI has no intention of doing anything about this. The suggested "workaround"…
