Hello Jim,Perhaps you can shed some light on this ASE CRASH? Here goes...I've installed B614 (but even before 614 it began happening... the past 2 flights)Today I set out on a flight KJFK-EINN. F/P routing is from Flight Aware: I've expanded out NAT_X so the route looks like "BETTE3 BETTE ACK ALLEX N107B DOTTY CRONO 5250N 5240N 5330N 5320N MALOT GISTI UNBEG"I'm flying the Quality Wings B752Also, I'm running ASE off the 2nd PC (MEGALON) and after numerous ups and downs, I finally got the network implementation to operate sufficiently. Do you remember my earlier "cries"? LOLSo I start ASE (on MEGALON) before I fire up FSX on the server (GODZILLA)...After I situate at KJ…

Hi, running ASE at B614 now. Having a permanent haze layer at FL360, no matter which offline-weather I’m using. For the following issues I used “2010-09-16_20Z.Wx” Too having strange wind and altimeter behaviour over South America on the way from Rionegro (SKRG) to Quito (SEQU). Flying at FL360 when altimeter display suddenly showed FL270 and afterwards even FL180. Never had any wind issues with ASE – always smooth and reliable. On that flight I had them, shifting wildly same time the altimeter gone wild. Had the impression that ASE quitted to work. So I took a look at the user interface:For the altitude issue pressure showed 2137 mb (63,1 inches) at the closest airport! …

...put pictures of your ASE and FSUIPC setup, and save us from the misery? Please...it will take you 10 or 15 minutes, but it can save other people a lot of time. I've pressed weather OFF, in FSUIPC, "six million times" till now...but no luck with pop up weather.Yesterday, i disabled ALL my scenery, except default FS...it was like "blank-super-clean" FS...still the same. Clouds/weather change like slide show...changed back to AS6.5...no problem at all, with same FSUIPC settings.

Hi all,All of a sudden I cannot start AS6.5 in FS2004. I get the failure-message "Error Initializing-Check your INI file". Wenn I click on OK, I get a new window, saying:Error during FS station database check (Step7): C:\Dokumente und Einstellungen\Hans Wijnroks\Anwendungsdaten\Microsoft\FS9\wxstationlist.BIN-NO FSX-Stations may not be properly configured for extended-coverage weather. What is going on. How could I eventually cure it?Regards, Hans

I tried to re-install all my Active Skys today in order to try to do the workaround I thought would work for ASA to ASE upgrade. I installed ASV6.5 into a program files folder. But then, installed ASA B433 into [drive letter]\HIFI\ASA folder. I am still getting error 701, the path to ASA files not found. You must have SP1 installed ... I have upgrades for all these products and wanted to try ASE.Can Hi-Fi simulation support please help. I can't find this build 435 that I have heard being talked about (for ASA) which apparently fixes this issue. Thanks in advance,John

I got another case of the sudden and very steep climb during a descent to Amsterdam Schipol (EHAM) airport today. I use the PMDG 744X and ASA (build 433), and FSX with Windows XP Pro 32-bit. I have no idea what caused it except that I was playing around with the auto-pilot descent (V/S) settings. I also have FS2004 and ASV 6.5 and the PMDG 744 there but this NEVER happened.I have read the Hi-Fi Simulation forum and apparently this is a known issue with ASA, ASE and PMDG aircraft but is there anything else you need as information from me to see if there is something I may have missed in doing to fix this issue? By the way, I already downloaded ASE but can't install it …

I noticed that the topic of drastic wind shifts in relation to weather programmes keeps popping up, unfortunately in many cases without a clear clue or solution. After searching this and other forums I finally came across this link: http://forums.simfli...p479798#p479798As clearly explained by Pete Dowson in the second entry of that tread, the cause of the wind shifts does not originate in the weather programme (ASA, ASE, REX) but in FSX. There is no perfect solution, just compromises like using global weather mode in ASA/ASE or wind smoothing (see for instance http://realenvironmentxtreme.com/forum/index.php?topic=7222.0 ) I would suggest to the developers of weather pr…

I've been using ASE since it was released now, and although a great piece of software, I've always had issues with surface/boundary layer turbulence. Most of the time I get very little, if no turbulence on short-finalinto an airport which does not seem realistic. eg. last night into KSFO the wind was 300@12 with zero turbulence on final, with the result that the aircraft flies like a rock down the glideslope with almost no input neededto keep it on glidepath and centerline (yes, the 767 is a stable aircraft, but not that stable!). My surface turbulence setting is at minimum 80, but if 'none' is set in Wxconfig this makes no difference right?Surely at minimum there should …

I'm curious as to how the Force Destination Weather option works when DWC is turned on and a flight plan has been entered in Active Sky EnhancedAs I understand, when DWC is on, the weather all around the world will be exactly the same as the weather at your aircrafts present location. This obviously causes a problem when getting ATIS for arrival airports, as they will report the same conditions as your present position. Will Force Destination Weather fix this behavior? If it does, does it change the global weather to the same as the surface weather at destination once you get to 80 miles out? Or does it force layers of weather that match the reports at destination?

I know Flight Environment simply copies textures into FS2004 each time you pick them randomly via favorites. ActiveSky graphics seems to do something similiar based on theme.1. do i have to restore via active sky graphics button when i want to switch back to FE?2. do i have to restore via active sky graphic button when i want to switch back to FE if i selected the weather influenced theme in active sky graphics? (not sure how weather influenced theme works).I guess bottom line question is: does active sky and FE both use the same idea, replace the textures but have the original names, so flight sim doesn't have to change references to which cloud set to use?thanks.this…

Hi,I have recently set up a small home network and I now try to run as many FSX programs from a remote computer as possible. Now I would like to run ASE also from this remote pc. However, what is the easiest way to achieve that? Do I need to uninstall everything from my FSX PC and install from scratch again on the client (ASX - ASA update - ASE update) or can I just copy some files that are key for this networked configuration to my remote computer and then configure simconnect and firewall? Thanks,Alex

I just wanted to say thank you for the recent fixes for ase, I use fs2004 and now I have no popping, clouds, great visibility effects, and I can say ASE is a must have for every fs user. Thank you very much.anthony

How do I load Active Sky X data into FSX? From what I understand, Active Sky X will contact FSX automatically once I load FSX, but nothing happens, even after waiting several minutes. Do I have it all wrong? Thanks

I have always used (AS6.5) Force Secondary Server in Options. But it is not working for awhile now.

I was curious to know if the S-turn issue with ASE in PMDG heavies has been solved or improved with recent updates to FSUIPC or ASE.I use ASE latest build, DWC off, and FSUIPC for wind smoothing. I thought I read somewhere that the newest FSUIPC seemed to correct this, is this true?

Everytime I am approching my destination, the sky becomes clear and almost all clouds disappear. Today it happend at about FL100 when approching Copenhagen/Kastrup (EKCH). The clouds came back when I was at about 4000 feet. I have clicked "Weather settings off” several times and use a free version of FSUIPC 3.98

Having some issues getting thermals to perform properly using ASE and FS9.... When I create a thermal manually in ASE I am getting no response or representation of the thermal in FS9... Tried creating some pretty big (1000fpm) thermals to check and the glider isn't responding at all. ASE is working fine in all other respects and I am seeing turbulence during my flights... I am also getting the messages "up/downdraught generated" and "thermal generated" as I fly along yet they just dont seem to be appearing in FS9.My wind settings all seem to be correct - both thermal sliders are set at 50% and 1000fpm for the up/downdraught sliders and I have got FSUIPC set to "weather se…

I am at WSSS now and using ASE as always. When I push back, AES gives me an option for de-ice, so I am confused. I check my cockpit display, it says outside temperature is 15C. However, I check local weather in ASE, it is 31C. So the two temperature do not match. I am sure ASE is connected to fs coz i have tried to reload ASE and everytime it clears my weather first. Moreover, the log says it is connected. I have not choice but switch back to the default weather and any help would be appreciated. Thanks.Danny

Hi Guys,I have tested many many configurations and spent lots og hours with no resolts, please help. I want to just disable cirrus clouds in my FS9.1.First of all I have this intalled:REX My theme, I unchecked cirrus and installed textures.ASV6.5 I have checked Disable Upper Layer Generation.I use ASV6.5 with GE Pro for FS2004.I import the plan in ASV6.5, it autostarts GE PRO read the weather data.I start FS9.1 with GE PROI go to FS9.1 at the airport, wherever, the cirrus are there. Is there some problem with REX/ASV6.5?Do I need to somehow and I do not know how disable textures from ASV6.5 to NOT get the cirrus clouds since I think in real time the do not appear so often.…

On a number of occasions when at FL240 or higher, I've flown through thick clouds or observed clouds below me, when the local METAR says "clear below 20,000". So my question is, what information is ASE getting that causes it to depict clouds above 20,000 feet? Is this coming from a specific source or is it an educated guess?

Is it normal that each time i experience turbolence winds drop suddenly to 10 knots with small gusts to 11/12 knots and they quickly change direction?E.G. I'm flying at fl330 and winds aloft are 45kt when they suddenly drop to 10/11knots as a standard value each time.Thank you.Ema

Noticed that the last few flights using ASE/FSX the destination winds were incorrect, whether or not the "force destination weather" option is selected. Usually 180 degrees out of sync with what they should be. I am noticing the visibility and clouds are normal, and within a minute or two after touchdown, the winds are correct. I used FSUIPC to supress wind gusts and turbulence, but not limit the amout of degrees per second for the wind. On the approach, I can see the wind shifting back and forth on the ND of whatever aircraft I fly, and it matches the data shown in the shift+Z display, but it never corrects to where it is reported to be.. This is with our without PM…
