  1. Guys,I've posted this problem on the RC forum too. Basically, when using ASE and Rada Contact, I suffer delays in communication. When I contact ATC, there is always a delay in a reply, and similarly when I reply to them there is a delay. When I use RC without ASE I dont have a problem. Any suggestions?Rory

FSX SP2ASE build 572FSUIPC4 registered.Today I made a flight from KPHX to KLGB in the Epic Victory at FL250. Prior to the flight, I made sure that DWC/Smoothing and Enable visibility graduation and smoothing were OFF, in ASE, and saved these selections. I also pressed the Refresh AI aircraft button prior to the flight. In FSUIPC, I have wind smoothing function "ON".I did not have the haze/low vis problem with the above criteria. To confirm that DWC was causing the problem, I turned DWC, and the visibility smoothing option, back on during the flight, and the white out/haze immediately appeared. I then disabled these items and, after a few minutes, the visibility ret…

Do the waypoints in a flight plan determine the enroute weather or is it the path of the plan through FSX? I am using ASX now and I can only import plans determined by FSX with a pln extension. I save plans for CS and PMDG planes which have a rt, rte, rte2 extension. Can these plans be imported into ASE?Thank youMichael Cubine

Yesterday (the 22nd), I downloaded historical wx for 7/16/2010 at 1700Z. Download was successful for this date and time, and this is the wx I used for the flight yesterday. Now today (the 23rd), I booted up ASE and it obtained the wx, as normal, but when I checked in the Report, it said that the date/time of the wx I had just downloaded was "161855Z". The "16" in the date/time info does mean the 16th of the month, correct? I closed down ASE and re-obtained the wx but again, it downloaded the wx for the 16th. Obviously, ASE is still giving me the historical wx I had requested yesterday. How can I get ASE to download the "current" wx? ThanksASE build 572FSX SP2Bob

Hey all:I've read dozens of posts on here about some of you guys having problems with weather being old (data). However, I haven't found anyone who seems to have an aswer to why this started happening.I used to use FS Real World WX from flight-sim Jeppesen but it's become so unreliable it can sometimes be as much as 8hrs old. So I now I use AS6.5 and have tried numerous settings to get current weather to be continuous. Most of the time the weather is about 1 and 1/2 hours old to as much as 3 hrs old.I don't know what else to try to get the weather to be current. I can pull the weather reports from www.fltplan.com and let's say that KLGB has the current hours weather a…

HiI am trying to increase the accuracy of the PMDG 737 FMC descent profile by applying forecast winds in the FMC Descent page. I'm not sure where to get the most accurate forecast winds that FS2004 will use, at two or three different altitudes on the descent. I do create a flight plan within ASE but if the flight takes say 3 hours will the flight plan forecast winds still be the same as when I created the flight plan.Does anyone have any advice of this subject please - I am currently using ASE (latest build).Glen

Hi Jim, getting quite bad wind shifts on ocassion at high levels with the latest ASE build on FSX (when I say bad, enough to knock my level-d out of VNAV, not turn it upside down). I know the solution is DWC, however I use Real Atis too (marvelous BTW) and using 'global mode' makes real atis not function correctly (it told me the weather at KMCO was -53 degrees yesterday with DWC enabled in global mode!) it's my understanding that ASE in 'station mode doesnt provide or doesn't do an excellent job at wind smoothing so I looked to FSUIPC. I realise I need to check the box 'allow changes to FS own weather' and then select the wind smoothing option, which I limited …

I do not start ADE in online mode. Instead, I use the Historical button and the online dynamic data to begin the download. After entering the desired local time and pressing Apply, the download begins as long as the time I entered is an hour entry only. If I also enter minutes and click on the Apply button, I get an error message "Object reference not set to an instance of an object." with options to quit the program or continue. If I continue, the weather download does not occur.Nevermind. The error was occurring after entering the minutes from the keyboard...I guess you can't do that. When I select minutes from the dropdown list, it works okay.

Using ASE and PMDG 747-8 (the plane I use most of the time until the NGX comes out) I get contrails all the way until touch down. If i clear weather through FSUIPC (unregistered) then and restart ASE the problem is fixed. Is it my settings. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

Jim,I had to rebuild FSX due to a ton of corruption issues and I wanted to install it on a separate drive, which BTW has worked VERY well. My question is that since building the new FSX, I lost the number of snapshots that I had in ASE. I have now flown two flights without any snapshots and the weather depiction has been better than ever.My first question, what do snapshots do, and where does the data come from when it is building the files.Second question, why is the depiction so much better without the snapshots. I am running FSXsp2 on a Windows Vista system with a nVidia card and the latest drivers.ThanksBob DTW

It differs at least 2.5 hours. Is this an ocaissional hick up or are the Hifi servers out of sync?P.S. 'Use System Time' option is checked

Hey everyone, I am using AS6.5 with FS9. I've been noticing this problem alot recently, in which the weather depiction in Toronto is always foggy or overcast. For example, for this METAR:CYTZ 130000Z 12003KT 9SM FEW081 24/20 A2975 the depiction starts out as shown in pic 1 (which I think is an accurate depiction), but within minutes changes to what is shown in pics 2 & 3. This change has nothing to do with new METAR data being downloaded (it is the same) or the plane's location (it will change even if you stay at the gate). It is just a delayed change which adds this foggy layer. Now, I think this has something to do with the fact that the visibility here in TO is…

  21. I just purchased and installed ASE and am trying to learn the program. I noticed that whatever airport I selected in the "Report" section, the interpolation details read exactly the same. I tried, for example KCMA (Camarillo, CA), KRHV (Reid-Hillview, San Jose, CA) and KMIA (Miami, FL). The individual METAR data was different for each airport, as expected. But shouldn't the interpolation data be different for different airports across the country, or is there something I'm not understanding.Thanks.

I'm enjoying ASE immensely. When I launch the "Historical" tab at my home airport of KBJC and download wx, I get the message that 473 stations have been populated. What is the radius set when ASE sets wx at a station (airport). I would think that the entire US would have more than the 473 stations, so just wondering what the radius is and is it adjustable? Thanks, keep up the great work,Bruce.

I'd like to understand what's going on here. Please take note of the TAT reading towards the upper right corner of each picture, the clock & DME read-out at bottom left and (if you can see it) the EGT gauge towards the bottom right corner.Over a relatively short distance (12 miles), TAT has gone from +5 degrees to -6, back up to +7 and then down to -2.You will note there is a button which momentarily shows SAT rather than TAT - not a toggle but a momentary display. I can assure you that the underlying SAT is moving also - it is categorically NOT the difference between the two figures which is changing. This may seem like a minor variation, but the aircraft is the PMD…

  24. Hey Jim,So first a question and then a request... (Happy summer break btw, I think I remember reading you were a teacher somewhere)So the question... ASE (latest version) w/FS9 over WideFS and Suppress on Ground enabled b/c I can not take the performance hit when taxiing or taking off with ASE's depiction Mode Active yet I still get Depiction Mode Active in ASE when on the ground; why? Shouldn't suppress on ground being enabled prevent this? Those three green words are literally the only thing that can still bring FS9 to its knees...So that was the question, now the feature request...I would love to see a Depiction PAUSE button... This way when it fires of as I am 4 m…
