  1. I am trying to get a little bit of hurricane hunting in. Is it correct that I will only see hurricane-like weather in the areas surrounding the weather station that is reporting that weather?Right now I have the following settings:Depict hurricanes - checkCreate additional stations - checkEnhance route coverage - checkAutomatic downloads - checkMin wind turbulence - 0Max wind turbulence - 100Min Shear - 0Max Shear -50Min Surf visibility - 0Max Surf visibility - 100Max upper visibility - 60Beyond hurricanes, is there something else I should do to get the most complete coverage in the Caribbean an a typical day? I usually look for nasty weather when I choose a flight.

I'm having a major issue with ASE. I've loaded a saved flight of the PMDG 747 at VIDP. I'm trying to set the weather from 28 August at 0235z.The METAR has the weather being 314/0, 900m vis. When ASE loads the weather, the low visibility is there for about 5 seconds, before it clears to unlimited visibility. However, when I load the standard microlight at VIDP on the active runway, the weather sets as in the METAR. It just seems to be a problem when loading a saved flight, or loading a flight at the gate. The process I use to start FSX and ASE is as follows:Start FSX and load saved flight.Set date and time to my requirement.Load ASE (locked to sim time), and allow the weathe…

Jim (or anyone else who might know)Is there any way to refresh AI traffic in ASE by setting up, and using, a hotkey combination via the keyboard, rather than accessing the program and pressing the button on the "Reports" screen? I'm using FSX.Thanks.Bob

This discussion has come up before, but I noticed something I have not seen before. On a flight today KTPA to KMEM at 36000 feet, with ASE build 586 I ran into CB's that were at and above my flight level. I thought in previous post there were limitations of the FSX weather engine that prevented CB's from being depicted above FL240.Did the new build of ASE (build 586), overcome this limitation? The clouds were depicted perfect for the enroute weather. I don't recall any mention from HiFI Simulations that CB's were now depicted, did I miss this? In any case it made my flight very real. Now if HiFi Simulations can fix the DWC's inability to properly report destination su…

Hi all My ASE Is showing a GMT time behind my actual computer time of 1 hour is this normal (I am in England) I have had the error message some have reported saying that "Over 3000 data reports are being ignored due to their date/time stamp being too old. Please check your computer clock - it may be set into the future. You will need to restart ASE after changing your computer clock. This message will be surpressed for the remainder of this session." more often than not in offline sessions. I have searched the forums and noticed that various people have had the same problem. FSX SP2ASE build 586FSUIPC4 registeredRadar Contact 4.3I know this question has been discussed previously but I'm still trying to get a definitive solution (if one exists). In a flight I made today with DWC on, the wx was very accurate along the entire route, in the sense that FSX was accurately depicting the wx corresponding to the ASE METAR info. (winds aloft, sky conditions etc). The only problem I had was when I received my last wx briefing from RC via ATIS for my destination airport. ATIS had the wind speed/direction way off from what ASE was reporting for the airport. As a result, RC ATC was vectoring me to RWY 18 to land when, based on the prevailing wind at the a…

METAR reports list cloud ceilings Above Ground Level (AGL), not above mean sea level (MSL). So if the airport is 500'AGL, and the METAR reports "bkn120", then the cloud ceiling would be 12,000 feet above the ground and 12,500 MSL. Does ASE depict the cloud ceiling accurately, i.e. AGL?

Hello again. I've been having issues downloading real-time weather with Activesky 6.5 for FS9. I'm getting data that's up to 11 days old. Here's what the top is saying right now:Local Date/Time: 8/18/2010 13:10System Zulu Date/Time: 8/18/2010 17:10ZActive wx: 071953ZAll of my system information is set correctly; I'm in online mode; I've switching between both servers (secondary is not working at all); use system time and automatic timezone detection is checked. Thanks for any help.Robert

  15. Hi all,I'm pretty sure the latest build 586 broke the output to the current_wx_snapshot.txt file. It was working fine, but after a few external programs such as TOPCAT and FSBUILD were getting some very wierd data, I decided to investigate. It turns out the date/time stamp on my copy of the file hasn't been updated since the last time I was running ASE SP1. This is on my wideFS/Simconnect-client PC. Current data displayed in the ASE GUI seems to be jiving with what I see in FSX however.

I don't know why I bit on this update, ASE for FSX was working so perfectly but now after installing the new update it has been horrible, but I just could not resist :( , my depiction and winds since the update are shot, not even close. And to top it off if I now try to open up the map it crashes everytime, never had that before. Anyways is anyone else now having problems with fsx? Anyways gone back to update 572, PS I realize that this update was not mandatory only for cloud issues which I never really had. :(

  17. After upgrading to build 585, I have horrible visibility after about 30min of flying. It doesn't matter if I'm at 4ft or 40,000ft, I get around 8 miles of visibility. when build572 was installed, I had unlimited visibility above 10,000ft. i tried to revert back to build 572, but it had no effect. The only way to clear the visibility issue is to clear all weather through FSUIPC, but the issue returns after the next ASE update. Any thoughts? This is what it looks like when the issue is happeningAfter all weather is cleared via FSUIPCThanksMatt

I'm running FSX with ASEvolution. What is happening is that I can hit Shift-5 and bring up the X Gauge. But when I click the powwer button, I get message "New Imagery Downloading" on the X Gauge screen. The problem is that it never loads. I waited over 5 minutes and that message was still on the screen. Can anyone tell me why it won't load the images. BTW, recently, I did a complete reinstall of everything including FSX, FSUIPC, ASE, etc. Before the reinstall, I was running ASA and the X Guage worked perfectly. It's only since the reinstall and upgrade to ASE that the gauge stopped working.

I am currently using ASE build 585 (networked) with both FSX and FS9 on a Windows 7 x64 computer and a registered version of FSUIPC ver 4.60a (FSX).My aim is to have realistic real world weather in both FSX and FS9, I'm not interested in fancy graphics or sunsets etc, just the cloud as it should be and wind as it should be. I fly with DWC on in ASE and weather settings off in FSUIPC, I also have automatic downloads and vatsim weather ticked and set to 15 mins. I have read so many posts saying fly with DWC off and use FSUIPC for wx control and others saying turn it on, I'm getting confused as to what state it should be in.The reason I ask this is the wind appears unrealis…

  21. Hi Jim.First off let me say that aside from the problem I am about to explain I have gotten a lot of enjoyment out of ASE, but this one thing has been a problem for me since I can last remember. The only reason that it took me so long to post or ask about it, is frankly just because I was too lazy to take the time to take the screen shots and document it, and it was easier to just live with it. However, it has finally annoyed me enough to take the time to try to get it corrected. Here is the problem. When I have a flight active ASE will show me that at an airport like SBGR for example, the wind will be comming from 270 at 15kts. This is great to know because when I am plan…

Jim, as was mentioned in this post: http://forums1.avsim.net/index.php?showtopic=285698 I still have this haze layer in FSX even with checking the disable haze layer box checked. Why would that be? I noted that it says it inserts a texture in FSX to do away with that? Is there a way I can manually confirm that texture got put into FSX? My sim still looks like the picture posted in the thread I linked back too. I have DWC enabled as well. Must ASE be started first for this to work? I usually start ASE after FSX is loaded as I do not import textures from within ASE.

I am re-installing FSX and add-ons into Windows 7 (64). I had purchased the full ASX some years ago, then the upgrade to ASA, and now the ASE (free) upgrade. Right now I have just installed ASX (which works fine as far as I can tell), and am trying to upgrade to ASA, and get the following error:"Error 202, Upgrade eligibility check failed ASX MUST BE INSTALLED ON THIS MACHINE".Is this a Win 7 issue? I looked briefly here but couldn't see any posts regarding this. Thanks, Bruce.

Hi all.I just installed X Gauge with ASE and it seems to work ok in the standard aircraft that came with FSX. However, in my addon aircraft (PDMG 747, 737 (FS9here) and Level D767FSX) the panel view has an X in the box checked, but nothing comes up. I see several other posts on this, but can't understand exactly what to change to fix this and to get it to show up. Can someone post a simple 1, 2, 3, of what I should do to get this to work as I am fearful of screwing something up. I have both FSX and FS9 installed on the computer and on two different drives. Also, I am in Windows 7.Thanks in advanceBob LeBoeuf
