  3. A very common question is: What are the best or recommended settings for ASE? Unfortunately there is no such thing. The many different options and ways of usage, and the many different kinds of users and user experience levels, can vastly affect everything. Are you a real world pilot or extreme enthusiast who has put in the many years of study and practice in aviation and simulation? Are you new to aviation, or maybe just now getting serious after always being an enthusiast? Somewhere in the middle, or different completely? Do you fly airliners or GA? Short routes, medium, long? Do you use FS9, Do you use FSX, are you on fast hardware or slow hardware? Do you use …

is there a way in which the weather in FSX such as clouds, move like they do in real world once the ASE has updated the wx info into FSX? it just seems that sitting at the gate, i see the clouds but don't see them move. i noticed this when i was using the REX v2.0 weather.

In previous thread I reported some of the problems I was having in tests of the Beta B651 using DWC mode. I also am communicating directly with Damian thru trouble ticket. However, out of frustration I decided to try STANDARD option and so far I am pleased to report EXCELLENT performance in all phases of flight and I was using PMDG NGX. I set Ground suppression / 100nm suppression / suppression below 10,000ft and force destination weather. I also tweaked the destination metar to include heavy CB. In the past the metar would not keep the CB, instead changing it to cumulus but this time it held perfectly within ASE and greeted me on arrival at destination. There were …

In the attached file, there is a METAR and the decoding. While METAR states CAVOK, decoding gives clouds which are also depicted in the Map page and in FSX.How can this be? In the same region, the METAR for LGTT is interpolated (wrongly) as in the second attachment, while there are three major airports within 50nm. So, the other three airports report CAVOK but LGTT appears cloudy.

My setup is with FSX running on a Windows7 Computer and ASE on a Wndows XP Computer.I have followed the instructions in Networked Configuration For FSX, and managed to have the shares and SimConnect configuration set up. After start of FSX on the Server computer and testing with the AITraffic.exe program I noticed that I could only get the indication “Connected to Flight Simulator!” if I also put a copy of SimConnect.cfg in the same folder as the AITraffic.exe file.As this is not highlighted in the document, can someone confirm that this step is necessary for testing of proper networked simconnect configuration? Cheers,Bert

After uninstalling a few aircraft and Prepar3D this morning, I booted ASE and received immediately; "Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click Quit, the application will close immediately. Font 'Trebuchet MS' does not support style 'Regular'." There is a dialog following about JT de-bugging, but it's beyond my understanding. Any help is appreciated. CheersLarry Sweigard

Hi Damien When I start ASE on my second PC in FSX it takes a good few minutes for the wind direction to correct itself IE it counts up or down from a particular degrees direction until it reaches the actual wind specified on the report page, is this normal when using DWC, thanks Wayne

Are there any benefits to running Active Sky on a separate PC from FSX?What are they? Do I use Simconnect or WideFS? Thanks! Mark

  11. Hi Damian! I posted trouble ticket about this but I have more information concerning my trial of new Build 651 and it wouldn't warrant another trouble ticket so I am going to fill you in here. First off, using DWC with dynamic change to "0", it holds aloft weather perfectly and weather at departure airport also spot on. I set up a flght and changed the departure and destination weather directly through the display interface. I noticed, however, that if I attempted to alter the surface wind or temp, the aloft weather levels all went to "0". I tried pressing "parse" but then the levels came back but only surface weather was depicted for each altitude! I refreshed an…

  13. Hello: I'm using ASE SP3 with FSX and default textures. Can someone advise which are the best textures to use with FSX that are compatible with Active Sky Evolution? Thank you, Iain

  14. Started by Russ Hodgson,

I am a new user to ASE, I thought I understood how the interpolation works (ish) but obviously I don't. My virtual aircraft is at the moment sitting at TKPK Robert L Bradshaw international in St Kitts in the Carribean the current METAR is, 190854Z 18000KT 10SM SCT092 26/22 Q1013 RMK ADVANCED INTERPOLATION. Now firstly this is a full metar report so why does it need interpolation? and secondly and the most odd thing when I click the interpolation details the reporting stations it is using is, NE Dist 1603 CWSA SE Dist 53 TAPA SW Dist 390 SVMG NW 51 TNCM. I can understand it using data from TAPA and TNCM but CWSA!!!!!! is 1603 miles away and SVMG is 390 miles away surely us…

Having found the interpolation at small airports does not work well (useless). I tried many way to find a solution and have now settled on a reasonable work round when just flying locally..On the "report" page select a airport which is reporting close by. (not interpolated). Then on the "option" page bottom left is a weather distance setting box. Either set global or a long distance. Now you have the close by reported weather at your local airport.

I'm running build 647 with FSX. FSUIPC ver 4.60aI'm currently at 35,000'. The report button in ASE says I should be getting winds 239/114kts. I'm getting winds 166/99kts.I've tried clearing/resetting weather in FSUIPC. I've tried different modes in FSX, change from user to online and back.Refresh ASE, nothing works. Winds always 80 to 180° out of whack. Scott SimmonsCorona, CA

  17. hey guys, i was wondering, what would be the best or recommended settings for ASE in FSX if you are using the Wilco/Feelthere aircraft, example, i have the Airbus evolution vol.1 & 2.

Hi Damian! Just upgraded from B572 to B647 today and gave a test flight with disappointing results. I am sure it is some option I have not set correctly so I need your help. First off I fly with historic wx OFFLINE and I always choose a destination with the worst IMC wx I can find as I did in this test case. First off I insured that I had Admin Rights then over-wrote options.cfg with default cfg. I unchecked suppression items and set range to "0". I then selected DWC with dynamic = 0. I left Force Hi Priority checked but everything else unchecked on that page. I left all the other wx settings at default except visibility Fog-Disable Haze-Enable Vis Grad all chec…

I have been a user of Evo since 2010 and have been extremely happy with it however, I cannot resist tampering with settings . I used to have a number of settings in FSUIPC "helping" with the weather but have now cleared its input (having read a number of posts on the forum) and am using ASE to control the lot. The issue I now have is that its great for a few mins and the weather works brilliantly but then clears itself and I am left with clear skys until I hit refresh then its good for a few mins again. I am using FS9 and all weather off in FSUIPC. Any pointers much appreciated! Thanks Stuart

Dear gent, I've just buy and install ASE + update SP3.. Every time i put the license code it always saying "You license key is not yet activate or invalid" Im also already trying the "keyreset" tools, but not working.. Any idea?

  25. A curious observation. As I fly from KSLC to KATL, the wx outside never changes, but the ASG "Selection details" change dramatically. The wx reporting stations report changes in the wx along the route but I don't see much change. Just light bluish haze with a pollution ring on the horizon. I'm using the 'wx influenced' graphic setup which I have set to 'auto submit' so that is working fine. No changes outside though.
