When I want to fly 'in the past' and want to use the weather-influenced textures, what's the right startup order? Because the textures depend on actual weather (which depends on day and time) my guess is that I have to do it in the following order: Start AS2012 with option 'Force to Sim Time' checked Download the weather for that day and time Load the flight plan Let AS2012 install the weather-influcend textures Start FSX Is that order correct?RegardsWolfgang

Hello,I know that the responses will be a bit bias in the Active Sky forum but common sense dictates this is where I will get the most accurate answer. I am looking at purchasing ASE for FS9 since I am looking for the most realistic wx experience, I am currently using the build it REX wx engine and am really looking for a good low IFR experience. My biggest complaint is that while it will produce low IFR while taxiing around an airfield, once in the air the fog/clouds dissapear and you can see for miles; this seems to be a REX limitation. Any comments on ASE are very appreciated. Thanks

I cannot get the wind arrow to display on the 737 NGX ND. I have ASE SP3 installed. The GS and TAS are showing and the difference between the two speeds on the last flight I completed was 60 kts. Any thoughts or help is appreciated.ThanksDon

Seems I've read about this before, but I don't know what the fix is. Running ASE build 649 in FSX (with Acceleration), and often when on approach at about 100-200 feet my plane will take a sudden, sharp, diving turn to one direction that I am unable to recover from. Everything is fine, sailing along the glide slope and then out of nowhere it takes a violent turn. I am running in DWC mode, have tried following the manual recommendations in disabling FSUIPC wind smoothing, editing the FSUIPC turbulence settings, and the FSX.cfg file for TurbulenceScale. Any thoughts on what causes that, and more importantly how to get it to stop? Many a lovely flights foiled by a sour endi…

I fly the 737ngx with ASE at a cost index of 80. Was curious as to why my flight times don't match up on flightaware. For example, the other day I flew from KDTW to KTPA using the exact weather at the time of the flight. The real flight arrived 20 minutes early. I arrived 20 minutes late. Probably just has to do with winds aloft

For us guys that like to fly outside of dwc I am hoping for some resolution for visibility controll. In FSX FSUIPC cant really controll the visibility anymore. It can but it is flakey. I am sitting here every 5 minutes watching the flight visibility go from unlimited to my set 55nm. It's driving me nuts and is a limitation between simconnect and FSUIPC. Also FSUIPC cant smooth the visibility anymore either. I am getting so sick of it that I may go back to DWC with its attendant problems of being surrounded by instant weather. ASE is a great program but cant we have it like fs9 where we had standard depiction and visibility smoothing? Can I request this for the next releas…

Has anyone else had this issue:ASE attempts to download over and over until it finally gives up and goes into offline mode. No problem, except, when you land, you're up against cruise winds.Last night, METAR showed it should have been 10 kts or so at KSNA, but on approach, I was up against a 75 kt H/W.

For FS9. Just got the program.1. If I take snapshots that include ground textures with different shades of GEPRO, will the program use those or will it be necessary to also press the GEPRO button?2. Does the program use water textures in the snapshot? REX allows for darker thru lighter shades of water. Can those be used as well for different weather patterns?3. How long does it take for a snapshot to load?4. Can a snapshot be loaded after FS9 is running?Thank you.

A funny thought came up today watching the screenies of the new 2012 textures. The runway is half coverd with snow and the taxiways are....clean?!?[so are the aprons] Something to be adjusted I think. The same goes for rainy weather. You can hardly see a thing in an aeroplane when flying thru the rain.Yet in FS it is normal to have a visibility of 10nm while rain hits your window screen.Something to be adjusted too.Any chance of having snow covered taxiways in the future? It would also be nice to have snow in places where there is actually snow. And now snow -when no snow has fallen there or temps are above zeroLarge parts of Europe don.t have snow in winter - or should I say …

Hi,I have FSX on a new system and am trying to decide between ASE or AS12. Right now I am using the default FSX weather. My concerns are the size of AS12 with hard drive space, as well as performance. Can AS12 be tweaked or adjusted so only some of the texture sets rather than all of them can be installed thus saving some space? And do the new textures have much impact on performance and if so can the settings be adjusted also? Thanks, Tom

Hi,Not sure if you're aware, but Airservices Australia will be shutting down its free AIS/MET briefing system in April 2012 as per the info below. It would appear access to the data will be restricted either via a registration process or a paywall. The Australian Bureau of Meteorology will continue to provide forecasts and observations for free through its website. Is this change going to impact at all on the Australian WX data for Activesky products? The AIS/MET Briefing system will be decommissioned in April 2012. Internet briefing services will only be avbl through NAIPS. Registration is required and is avbl via the NAIP HELP DESK. PH 1800 801 960

If I fly (FS9) in online mode ASV6.5 Build 553 keeps up with the system time and automatically brings up the current METARS during a multi-hour flight. If I fly in offline mode with using automatic sequence playback, downloading the appropriate ASV Z time METAR for departure time and all hours after for a multi-hour flight, and with FS time enabled and synched, I don't get the proper METAR updates as FS time changes to the next METAR hour during the flight. No matter what I do I can't make it work. What ASV options settings do I need to make sure are enabled/disabled, and what is the sequence procedure for FS9/ASV to make this work? I have read several times the ASV manua…

Good day, I have a strange issue that's only noticeable at KFLL (noticed it today and a few other times). While inbound on the ILS to 9L, the weather depicted was hard IFR (contrary to the ATIS and the metar reported by AS). However, upon landing and prior to reaching taxiway D or thereabouts, the weather suddenly changed to what was reported in the ATIS. On the outbound flight, a similar thing happened as I was taxiing to runway 9L. At a certain point while taxiing on taxiway B (in the vicinity of runway 13/31), the weather suddenly changed again to hard IFR, despite the ATIS reporting differently. I'm using FS9.1 and ASv6.5 (build 554) along with ActiveSkyGraphics. T…

Hi, I've installed all the WideFS6 components correctly on my serverclient machines. My problem is, I am at a loss for how to setup ASE on the client when using FS9 on the "server" computer . A little background. I should not say "at a loss" because currently I have setup Simconnect successfully on the client for FSX and I am running ASE for FSX. My problem again is how to setup WideFS6 to run ASE for FS9 on the client computer if I currently have it running for FSX as well. I was thinking maybe I have to uninstall ASE on the client and reinstall using the "NETWORKED CONFIGURATION FOR FS9" instructions from the ASE.pdf document. Or is it not possible to install ASE on the…

Good Day,I currently have ASE for FSX and for the most part find it's the best program out there for weather. I do plan on buying AS2012 and just have a quick question or two for you please:1) Has the METAR Editing in the WX Config (now WX Edit in 2012) parsing problem been fixed in AS2012? I have had many problems with the ASE version to the point where I can't use it, but have to use the graphical panel above that if I want to install weather manually.2) I still have problems occasionally with rain being generated in clear conditions (the snow seems to come when it's supposed to now, so that problem was fixed in the last update). I'm guessing but I suspect this is a res…

Hi folks,I appreciate any feedback on this, and also I've seen Pete around here so great if I can get youropinion on this :)I've been using ASE (647 now) and an old version (4.152) of FSUIPC for some time, as this versioncame with RCV.4. I never had any s-turn problems which I read about others experiencing withthe PMDG MD-11 (and other). However I did have the annoying problem of "lagging" in RC,causing such delay on approach that airplanes were on the RWY when I was supposed to land.I updated to version 4.530 some time ago, and noticed that my MD-11 suddenly started withS-turns on cruise.. Bad ones! I also had strange wind-shifts. After testing to for some time, I rever…

Guys,I want to know the combination of settings that would result in realistic turbulence. I have seen posts suggesting FSUIPC wind smoothing settings be disabled and similar for FSX settings. But I cant seem to get much of it even in heavy cumulous clouds. I am after realism, and not just turbulence for the sake of it. In real life, you can expect an uncomfortable experience flying through thick clouds, and I am not getting that with ASE at the moment. Thanks,Sam Mustafa

My Ase installation was working flawlessly until 2 weeks ago when I run the Bojote tweaked. Since then, ASE starts fine but it stops updating the weather....I can see it downloads a new wx file but it does not change the weather inFSX.I can change it manually by starting FSUIPC and simply selecting "ok" and getting out of FSUIPC, my weather changes instantaneously!

Hey Damien,I saw the new announcement and I am very excited for you, looks great! With that being said, I still have many of the same niggles as others with ASE and was hoping there would still be time to solve these final issues with the new product coming out...First and foremost, ASE absolutely CRUSHES FS performance every time Depiction Output Active is green. I have tried everything, run ASE locally, run ASE over WideFS, Force High Priority, leave it off, played around with suppression settings but NOTHING I do can compensate for the performance hit ASE causes when it updates. It is also updating every few minutes despite any update interval settings I try compoundi…

Contents of 2 log files below. The first shows everything is OK but the 2nd one shows the simconnect errors. I have no weather in fsx. I have double checked everything.the xml, ini, cfg file and the ip addresses, everything, but still no weather. I feel like screaming... shi#...Any help would be much appreciated. Why there are conflicting reports in these 2 files, I have no idea. Here is the ASE_Log.txt file::*********************************************4:23:06 PM:0982 - Loading Application Data Path4:23:06 PM:0982 - Application Data Path = C:UsersBobAppDataRoamingHiFiASE4:23:06 PM:0982 - Loading Application Executable Path4:23:06 PM:0997 - Application Executable Path = C:…

Hi,I'm new to this forum and apologize if my problem have been reported before. I searched and couldn't find anything. I'm no english native, so errors in the writing may occur. My PC flight system is built up with Win XP Prof. SP3, FSX SP2 and ASE Build 647 (SP3).Yesterday I was flying the LDS767 from Toronto to Munich when, at about two hours after start, ASE ceased operation and wanted to report the issue to Microsoft, to which I agreed. Several tries of restarting ASE failed and so I continued my flight with a steady (but too weak) tailwind over the atlantic. On descent towards Munich Airport I tried again to start ASE and had luck: no error! After closing down everythi…

Hi,I purchased Active Sky X back in 2009 and want to reinstall it on a new system. I just visited the website to see about any updates and see a new product called ASE. Is this the same as ASX? I could not find any reference to my current ASX?? If this is the updated ASX can I upgrade? Thanks. Tom

REX2.0 OD with ASE...there are ten themes in REX to load and then have ASE archive those textures for callup in FSX...1. Start with "Enviroment" textures and go one by one down the dawn/sunrise textures one by one (load each one) individually, once they are all loaded hit the "Day" tab and load each day enviroment indiviudually, etc then go to the "Clouds" themes and load each cloud texture individually, etc?2. Randomize each load of all the themes, allowing the computer to "mix 'em up" instead for 20 or 30 times?3. Select handpicked themes 20 or so times?Number "1" above I guess ultimately would give you the best variety of textures available for ASE to call up - but ext…
