Hi,I'm since years an happy customer of ASE family tools, but since I have installed the new SP I'm facing several issues despite different settings I have tried (at the end of the topic my current config based on the setting suggested by Paul for the PMDG NGX).In details the most disappointing issues:1. Clouds, and related coverage, are not visible at runway level (clouds suddeny appear only after the take off) or at high level (i.e. at FL270 also in areas with reported overcast the sky is clear with terrain fully visible and, if TS is reported, lightinings appear without any depicted clouds)2. When clouds are depicted they are few and appear only close to the aircraft…

I've just updated my system to Win7x64 and re-installed ActiveSky v6.5. I'm not experiencing any issues as it appears to be working so far. The only thing that has happened is that Win7x64 displayed a warning when AS installed .NET version 1.1.So a few of questions...Does ActiveSky v6.5 still require that build of .NET or can it be removed? Is there a compelling reason to upgrade to ASE?If I do upgrade, how easy is it to remove ASv6.5 and install ASE?Please advise and thanks!Mark

Hi, I did a flight EGCC-LFPG yesterday, with FSX, ASE (last release before the beta B651, is it B647?) and Radar Contact. When approaching the Paris area, RC metar reported wind of 80 knots at LFPG!I performed the approach to runway 09L and when the tower cleared me to land, they reported again wind of 80 knots (in fact the wind was almost calm).Just before landing I did a "wind check" (it's an RC option) and the tower controller said "wind calm". At the same time an AI aircraft was approaching runway 27R (although there were other AI aircraft landing on runways 08/09) and it was a matter of seconds if I did not have a crash head-on with that aircraft landing in the opposi…

Hi,My default flight is set at CZML, 108 mile ranch. When I load a saved flight in Vermont ASE is telling me on both the map and the wx config tabs that I am at CZML.I'm not seeing any obvious way to make it recognise where I am automatically, as ASA used to do. How is this done in ASE?RegardsJon

Since I bought and installed AES I am having sever problems with at least two Add-on aircraft. My idea was to use AES as weather engines with Direct Weather Injection and REX overdrive for the texture. The weather engine in REX is disabled. I am flying with FSX and online on VATSIM with FSInn. Weather update in FSInn is disabled.Shortly after beginning to taxi the aircrafts stops suddenly. To get the aircraft moving again I need at least 70% N1. On takeoff the acceleration is very slowly and I need the longest runway available. With some luck I am reaching Vr before the runway ends. In-flight, flying with auto throttle the Aircraft is sometimes accelerating into over spee…

ASE pi$$es me off like no other.Don't get me wrong, this program depicts weather great. But right now, I started my big 9,5hr flight from Heathrow to Seattle, and at takeoff, it was nothing else but fun... my trim was going nuts, pitching the aircraft up and up, I had to push trim down all the time, it almost stalled, after 2-3 min, on AP, aircraft started banking like crazy, left-right... that is where I got the message.Turned off ASE, all is great.DWC is a recommended mode, but can cause THAT?Now I switched to standard... and I get flashing?Solution?

I'd really love to learn a quick set of options in ASE to achieve a similar depiction of clouds / sky / visibility combination, that Open Clouds achieve. I know those settings are quite basic, perhaps even primitive for ASE standards, but their fast combination is very enjoyable, fps and looks are great in FSX. I'd rather have that combination as a basis for building up more sophisticated variations of ASE-type wx depiction. Can anyone please suggest these settings in ASE? I'm sure there must be 4-6 setting items no more all together.Thanks,Dirk.

Hi,I was thinking of changing ATC, to PFE. How is this one behaving in combination with DWC? I know that RC4 had problems, which got solved (I use RC4 now). How PFE reacts to DWC's same weather? How ATIS is behaving and how AI are assigned for landing? If anyone has any knowledge, please let me know.

I know this has been beaten like a banshee but I feel like I need to address a certain aspect that has been giving me lots of grief and I do not know how to fix it. As an example I was flying over Florida in the 737 ngx and it was broken tops at 15,000. Then, all of a sudden I encounter severe turbulence. Ok fine, so I turned on the seat belt sign. But then, all of a sudden thunderstorm clouds slowly materialize out of thin air and in a matter of seconds I am enveloped in T-storms! Then, as quickly as the materialized, they went away and it was back to broken tops at onefifethou! I am using DWC. I think at first that changing this to Standard might be the way to go, but t…

I mostly use ASE with real time weather and only sometimes with historical weather in online mode.Inside the Hifi\ASE\Weather folder I see a growing amount of hundreds of Autosave.rcd files. Are they needed for a proper function of ASE or can I delete them from time to time?Just curious about thismy best wishesHans-Christian

Hi everyone,I'm a long time user of Activesky 6.5 with FS2004. I thought I had everything configured as well as possible, but lately I've been bothered by slow frame rates/stuttering at certain airports or when I have a lot of (IMC) weather. My system is pretty good...dual core 2.8 Ghz, 2 gigs ram, an ATI Radeon 3600 HD video card with 1 gig ram etc.Anyway, I made some changes that I thought would improve frame rates, (like changing target frame rate to 22, and backing off some of the terrain detail). but now, when my Activesky injects weather, and I go to an airport that should be fogged in, I have pretty much IMC conditions when airborne, but clear visibility on the g…

Can this be done? Can one change the res in the REX UI and then it be done? Or does one need to copy files over manually or create separate snapshots with the different resolution textures? In other words are the cloud resolutions selection dependent at the time of snapshot creation? Thanks

Hi Guys,Not sure if I have a FSUIPC issue or not. I've replaced it and renamed the .ini file and cannot get weather to inject into FS9. The airport weather data tab won't even display the correct airport (I'm at cle but lock to closest says dca). Attached is the the log file. I see there is an issue just not sure how to fix... any help is appreciated!Mike Majdeski

I recently got myself a Netbook PC to run some of the FSX addon applications separately but I noticed some programs don't like the resolution of my Netbook which is 1024x600. The result is that you won't be able to see some parts of the programs. I've seen this both with Aivlasoft's EFB and also with ASE.So...please try to find a way to make next version of ActiveSky scale automatically depending on the chosen resolution on the PC where it's running or at least include scroll bars so you can manually get to the parts not visible today.

Probably not related but curious nonetheless : My current rig has let me fly my PMDG737 in FS9 for more than a year without so much as a hiccup.Today I bought and installed ASE on a wideclient pc, made a flight from EGPH to ENGM and experienced a CTD 30 miles from my destination..So I'm posting this on the off chance that there's a known issue with a wide client installation .regardsMartin

I have been a user of ASE since it was first introduced but have had countless problems. I never was able to get reliable weather depictions within FSX while enroute. To make matters worse it would be a rare occasion if the weather at destination was any where close to what was showing in the ASE display for that airport. The pressure and visibility would usually be correct but nothing else. When SP3 was introduced I tried it but had serious frame-rate issues and as in the past got nowhere with support. Then Damian came on the scene and encouraged me to do a complete uninstall and new install and finally explained what the different modes did. I followed his advice an…

Hi,I am having a small problem with winds when on approach, the wind seems to change from aloft to arrival airport surface at about 2500ft. This is causing the aircraft to then go off the LOC and then the aircraft has to battle to get back onto a stable approach, this wouldn't be a problem but because we are only 2500ft up and a few nm from touchdown its not the best. I was wondering if this could be changed somehow so that the aloft to surface changes at say 5,000ft rather than 2,500ft. This will then able the aircraft to become a bit more stable. Also I have noticed, that weather is always slightly different to the airport weather, the weather is updated from VATSIM but …

Can someone please advise on the optimal settings for AS6.5.I have had it for a number of years but have been out of the loop for a while.Would buying ASE make a noticeable improvement in weather generation?I am using fs9.Thanks.

Hi, when Active Sky asked me for the right paths to the server I edited them in my win7 regedit (the appdata path and the fsx program folders). So I started fsx then AS, both told me they are connected but few seconds later in its main page AS told me it was impossible to find the (appdata) path c:\blablabla.... and write the asx-wx-info.dat file. I edit the app path key in regedit exactly as stated in the manual "\\computer name\fsx". Isn't that correct? The connection is ok, i tested that with AI application as well plus, as mentioned, fsx told me it is connected to Active Sky.The appdata folder is shared with everyone (only a blue square is thicked and there is no way…

Is it possible to stop the pop up if you drop your connection? When this happens it minimises fs and sometimes I am unable to restore fs9 and have to force quit fs. I don’t really wish to fly in window mode if possible so not to risk losing my flight, got to love good old aussie wireless internet, Heath
