I have been trying to download archived weather through ASKY 6.5 for a week now ,but with no joy.I have requested info on the HI fi forum but still no definitive reply .If you could enlighten me I would greatly appreciate it. No probs with the 'current weather' its just the archives that are not.Andy

Hi,This isn't really a support question but if the guys with access to the weather servers. . .Can you tell whether people connecting are using fs2004 or fsx ?I just wondered how many people are like myself still using fs2004 over fsx. It would be interesting to see some stats and ASE may be able to generate this kind of info.ThanksGraham

I have ASE on a laptop having followed the manual with network setup the ASE program runs however how do I know it's connected to other FSX PC ? The FSX button to the far right on the main ASE screen is always greyed out any help would be appreciated. Wayne

I have ASE and haven't quite figured how it all works. What are themes? Do I need to set them up? Basically all I've done is loaded ASE and run it straight the way it installed. Am I loosing out but not setting up themes? I was thinking about either purchasing X Graphics or REX to augment the textures. Do I need to make significant adjustments if I choose to add either of those programs. I feel like such an idiot when it comes to using ASE, especially when I see youtube videos or screen shots made by others. Looking at various programs like REX, ASE, Ipad airport weather apps, decoding Tafs etc It seems that ASE has more discrepancies with wind direction. Again going in to Geneva I have runway allocation chaos despite testing out all the depiction modes.So which program is correct?......I think I know, but, It would be good to have a second opinion.

Here's one I've never experienced before! Through about 3000 feet to the NW of TNCM today my outside air temperature started climbing uncontrollably until I finally quit ASE and cleared weather through FSUIPC. It got to about 190* C and climbing uncontrollably until I shut it down. I always have the Force to sime time option enabled. Last weekend I installed my complete computer all over again and since doing so the option Force to sim time is reset everytime I start up ASE. When the main screen comes up I can see it is enabled, but while the program loads various things, the option suddenly is unchecked.How can I make this option stick? I already looked at rights read only and all that stuff (UAC is off) but I can't find anything. Obviously it's no big deal to turn that option on everytime, but it's not ideal either. ;)

Hello,1. Changing manually clouds in editable METAR string and clicking "Parse METAR" will make cloud layers list blank. 12. Now when you click "Apply weather" chances are ASA will throw unhandled exception and crash.Also tested with latest build 625.[1] You don't even need to change anything in the METAR string, just clicking "Parse METAR" will reset cloud layers section.

Lately am finding that winds in FSX/FMC etc differs from that in ASE.I seen this a few times now, and normally the way i fix is to pause my flight and restart ASE, then all is well. I get same weather in ASE as did before, but after rerstart ASE WX== FSX WXofcourse on the pmdg j41 , this means when i restart flight the plane looses control due to drastic sudden chnage in weather conditions.I have tried hitting the refrsh button in ASE breifing page but no luck.I dont really care too much if ASE weather is same as real world weather, but ASE is quite useless if ASE and FSX dont see same weather unless i restart ASE, then quickly try to stop plane from crashing due to sudde…

I have just purchased ASE been as it works well with REX textures, many people say the weather engine is also better.I would like to know why the weather is so different between REX and ASE.REX Weather:ASE Weather:Why so different? Hi,Just wondered what the start up sequence is to make sure the departure runway is the same as the wind determines on startup.I always check weather at dep and arr airports before I start my fs and ASE. My dep and arr runways are known even before I start up the 2 programs.It always seems however when I'm ready to leave the chocks, even though the weather depiction is accurate, the ai aircraft and atc are sometimes using a different runway. Just to pre-empt some replies, I know that sometimes at some places you are not governed by wind alone. This is not the case I am talking about though.How do you do it guys, any guidance appreciated.Graham

I only get an error message when trying to start ASE. It has run well until ...? I don't know for sure what I might have changed, but I only get this message immediately after running ASE. I tried already to install ASE completly new and yes, I deleted all ASE folders before. I think it is related to .NET. Which version needs to be installed to run ASE? Hi,I am getting quite frustrated as to when I get into an area of reduced visibility in FSX usually less than 8 miles I am now seeing all the distant "squares" of land textures turn whiteish or more or less the same color as the haze that is responsible for the reduced visibility. These white squares are arranged in a blockie circle around the aircraft starting at about 10 miles from the aircraft. It is the worst when the visibility is about 8 miles because when the visibility is less I cant see them through the haze. When the visibility is better I see the normal texture rendering all the way out to the limit of the visibility. When I pan these blocks shift around but s…

Hi there,Before I start my question I would like to say that the problem I am going to describe happened December 2010, and when I talked to the guys at HIFI, they were quick to responce, polite, and when the problem couldn't be fixed, I got a refund. Thank you for the help I recieved.Which makes me want to try again,I am absolutely picky about loss in performance, stutters and general quality of the sim. I know this has been raised before, but I've been unclear as to what I am doing wrong, so apologies if this has been answered and my search skills are at fault! I have never been able to get the PMDG and ASE to work properly in FS9.1. I regularly get disconnecting autopilot functions, and S-turn issues. I also have ASA and never get these issues. Windows XP, SP3FS9.1ASA build 647FSUIPC registered version.FSPassengersFSCaptainPMDG 747-400, latest updates. The issues are present in all parts of the world, although it seems to happen more regulalry over the large expanses of open ocean. Thank you very much for your help, - daniel

I run ASE on a networked machine. ASE starts up fine. When I click the Show Aircraft Position on the map page, nothing happens. It will not let me put a check in that box. Additionally, ASE is not updating FSX.I did uninstall FSINN and CoPilot from the ASE machine. It is the only action I can think of that might have caused a problem.Any ideas?Thanks,

Any ideas why? I have AS6.5. The screenshots below show a little of what I mean - the small clouds to the left flicker and appear/ disappear as I pan. Probably an FS, not AS problem, but anyone know why this happens sometimes? Is there a way to stop it?? Thanks, Martin

Hi all,An old problem returns. Just upgraded to ASE and discover my panel flashes regularly I assume as the weather updates. I have the latest drivers and updates installed. I believe reading past posts this is something to do with render to texture. If this is still the case can someone take me through a workaround. Don't really want to risk ctd s or the like. Also another quick question. About 50Ft to land at Palma my wilco A319 nearly crashed as the right wing suddenly dipped about 40 degrees a go at wake turn simulation perhaps but not really too impressed with that. Hi,I use the ASE weather engine as well as graphics from REX.When I approach a region with low visibility, I have a very clear 'nice weather' visual contact with the ground until actually entering the fog layer where all turns grey and foggy from one moment to the other.Is there any setting I've done wrong. If there's fog, the ground shouldn't be visible from any altitude above the fog layer.Thanks,Ralf

Hi there,I have ASE + SP3 installed. Win7 64, FSX + SP2, i7 2600k @3,9GHz, 8GB RAM, GTX580, newest drivers. Depiction mode is in standard.Whenever depiction output is active (green announcement in the window) I get a serious performance drop which I wouldn't expect on this PC. Also the sky textures (Pablo Diaz' HDE) start flashing in daytime. When depiction output is inactive again, everything reverts to normal. I didn't have such a drop on my old PC which was half that powerful. FSX is using 3 cores. I switched high priority processing on/ off for testing, but it made no difference.Maybe you have got some tips for me..Regards,Matthias

Hi Jim,I have been an avid user of ActiveSky for years now and use the 6.5 version for FS9 which works well for me.Right now, I am test flying in Asia a bit more than usual, mainly in China. Many of the Chinese airports are not supported in ActiveSky.I was wondering if it is possible for a user such as my self to "add" to ActiveSky's database of airports in any way? Or is it not possible for an end user?Such places as ZUJZ (Jiuzhai Huanglong airport) in Songpan, Sechuan Province, a big tourist spot, or ZUGU (Guangyuan) which is an alternate for ZUJZ. Even Squawkbox does not know these places.Much of mainland China is not in the dataset of ActiveSky - even the old VH…

I thought I was over this problem once and for all switching to FSX but no such luck. I have been really struggling trying to get the best weather depiction possible so now I am trying again cloud smoothing with ASE and low and behold I see that haze/fog/cloud low layer following me right under my aircraft! Is this a byproduct of cloud smoothing? I was using standard mode for it provides the best depiction but could not deal with the stuttering and sky flashing during "sim cue count".Anyway to get rid of this following cloud?
