HiI'm a big fan of active sky evolution which i purchased a few days ago but i have a strange problem; sometimes, when ASE is active, the sky (and the sea if i'm flying over it) start to "beat" like a strobe effect and this causes me low frames!it's very annoying..I unistalled ASE, fsx, and formatted the pc but nothing changed..I'm using REX and i have the graphics drivers up to date. (285,62) my specs are: Intel i7 2600K @3.4ghz, Asus P8Z68 V-PRO, NVIDIA GTX 580, Corsair 8gb DDR3 1600, Win 7 Professional.please helpThanksFederico

I fly a lot around Lake Ponchartrain and New Orleans. The Mississippi River and Lake Ponchartrain are both generally brown, muddy waters. Using the default graphics with AS2012, Lake Ponchartrain looks like the turquois waters around Key West, so I figured it was not treated as "inland" but rather "tropical" water by AS (probably - I assume - because FSX classifies it as such). No problem - I merely customized the theme and recolored my selected tropical water choice. It worked - to a point. It appears that the water changes from my recolored brown to the AS2012's turquois blue about 5.2 NM from the airport - making me think that the custom-colored graphics have a li…

Hi guys, just a small question here I'm trying to work out some good snapshots for future flying. Its a great concept, so I amexcited to try it out. However, I have failed to understand wether it load a single snapshot for an entire flight, based onsome sort of "average" for that flight, or does it load from several snapshots depending on how the weather isunderway? For instance if weather is clear on departure and stormy where you arrive, will ASE load a stormysnapshot for your arrival and a clear for the departure?RegardsGeir JNorway

  6. I lost my product key for ActiveSky 2012, which I bought from SimMarket. For some reason I cannot log in to my SimMarket account and they are not responding to the ticket I submitted. I bought the program about 2 weeks ago, and now I need to find a way to reinstall and put in my key. Hope you can helpThanks Zack

For FSX ATC I use Pro Flight Emulator (PFE) which does some mystical things with the flight plan in AS2012. Without PFE the distances between the waypoints will be calculated correct. E.g the distance between KPHL and DQO will be 22nm. But if PFE is running the distance between these two points will be 1546 nm which is totally wrong. The side effect is that the calculation of the average wind componente is also wrong too.Any idea what can generate this discrepancy? BTW PFE uses FSUIPC instead of simconnect to communicate with FSX.RegardsWolfgang

  8. Hello,Since i used the last update of fsuipc (registered version) and AS2012, i've got a problem with my pmdg 737 ngx during the climb just after took of.The plane start to accelerate and climb and few time after stay at a very low speed and stop climb.I post a thread on pmdg forum, a person said to check TAT during the climb phase.http://forum.avsim.net/topic/359283-buffet-alert-and-autothrottle-disconnect/page__pid__2225515#entry2225515 Well before these updates, i never had this problem.Could you help me please. Thanks in advance.

  9. Though I have serious issues about lack of cloud cover using AS2012, until now I have been pleased with overall performance of AS2012 correctly depicting winds/temps aloft. At least I thought so until I noticed unrealistic climb performance issues with both ConcordeX and NGX. Winds seemed to be correctly depicting (with relatively correct interpolations on climbs/descents) but when I examined the OAT (SAT) I noticed that it was not being correctly interpolated between the metar levels. The temps seem to stick at the wind/temp levels until plane has climbed 200 ft above and then the temps rapidly fall to the correct temp (according to the REPORT page in AS2012). But t…

Using AS2012, if I want to just fly VFR circuits or local flying near the depature airfield. Do I have to put anything in the Flight Plan page as it doesn't appear to load any graphics - I normally use DWC and realistic Wx.Glen

  11. After importing a flight plan and hitting "Process," the dialog appears to install weather influenced graphics or a Snapshot. I always select weather-influenced and then hit the "install" button. Sometimes when I do this nothing happens. I'm used to seeing the installation progress window appear, but sometimes it doesn't.If I repeat my steps (without restarting AS2012), i.e., import the same flight plan, hit "Process", then hit the "Install" button for weather-influenced graphics, the installation progress window always then appears. Is there something I'm missing here? If I click "Install," shouldn't the install progress window always appear? Thanks.

Good Day Gentleman,I don't believe I have posted in the HiFi forum for several years. AS5, 6 and 6.5 transformed my FS2004 world many years ago, and to this day I can't thank you enough for the positive aspects they added to it.I've been using FSX for a couple of years now, but not in the hardcore manner that I used FS2004 before that. A few months ago I purchased AS Evolution, and it has on the whole been excellent. But I do have a couple of issues.1. MASSIVE frame rate hit during weather update.2. Despite setting weather update to every 30 minutes, it always updates after 15.My system is fairly reasonable - i7 930, 8GB RAM, Twin 1GB GTX460's in SLI, and FSX runs OK, …

Is it only me, or is AS2012 overwriting my Shade settings? I don't know if it's each time, and I'm not 100% sure, but I wanted just to ask before I go into deeper testing and comparisons! Some comparison shots:My old settings - installed AS2012 - run Shade to set&forget:Then I ran AS2012 wx influenced again, with only Clouds and Sky to install, and this is the result:

  14. Since re-installing FSX recently, I have come across this problem. If I use ASE to generate weather, it appears in the sim correctly but is not injected into the FSX weather screens. All winds/clouds etc show nothing and visibilty is set to unlimited.Previously, I was able to save a situation to use for multi-player sessions with the required weather, but not any more. All I get now is 'all weather cleared' instead.Have I missed setting an option or is there another dependant program that is not recognising ASE any more?Dave.

Guys, as I've flown mostly smaller high fidelity propeller planes recently (on PilotEdge) I wonder how to set up AS2012/FSX/FSUIPC to recreate realistic movement of the plane in the air, that always feels unstable under you seat and the plane undergoes constant oscillations? Those who fly small planes in rw know how it feels under your seat even when you're flying straight. On the one hand I can tweak some buffeting effects in EZDOK, on the other I'm thinking about Wind Turbulence, Wind Shear, Automatic Thermal Generation %, Terrain-based Up and Downdraft settings in FS2012. Current settings feel great for passenger jets but they do not render realistic feel of atmosphere…

I have ASE and recently purchased REX 2.0 simply because it was half price. Now reading up on REX, I can use it without starting the Weather component. Rex will load specific themes based on my input and place them in FSX scenery. My question is, how do I get the upgraded textures from REX to ASE. I know we've talked about Snapshots. Do I first start FSX and while I'm flying press the ALt + Prnt Screen. How does one save snapshots while still in ASE? I'm still not grasping the whole snapshot and theme thing between REX and ASE? Anyone that could provide help, I sure would appreciate it.Jim KiefferGreenville NC

Road textures, Railroads, and water do not load from Active sky 2012. I also have UTX USA and Europe. If I set highways, roads, freeways, railroads, and bodies of water to inactive in UTX USA and after FSX loads;there are no textures for these. If I activate these in UTX they overide the textures I choose for these in Active Sky 2012.

I bought AS2012 short after release and was very happy with it. Since I fly online most of the time I use real weather and the weather was fair most of the time; no real challenge for a weather engine. Today we have strong winds, rain and dark sky.I flew from LSZH to EDDM. I used the flightplan feature in AS2012 and preloaded the the weather along the route. It rained in LSZH out of broken sky with a lot of blue patches. Along the route I could quite often see the ground ( I think that's a known issue. But the approach in Munich was a real dissapointment; real metar said 230/32ktG46kt and I landed at 230/4kt. :sad:How can that be? I also noticed that saving weather condit…

  22. Hi,first of all - I'm not a native speaker but i hope I'm able to describe my problem. After 30-40 minutes of flying on cruising altitude (with PMDGs NGX) and stable wind conditions (e.g. 290/60) the wind speed drops instantly to 5 kts and the direction begins to shift rapidly (e.g. from 250-253 and back - multiple times). This goes on for a couple of minutes and suddenly the wind speed goes back to 60 kts and the plane crashes. I did everything written in the README like adjusting the turbulence scale and disabling turbulence effects but it didn't work.I also tried flying with and without previously entering a flight plan into AS2012 but without success. I'm not using FS…

For FS9 ASEHow far up is the surface considered for this feature? 20 feet? 5000 feet? Can the vertical be changed? If I wanted a minimum visibility regardless of weather, clouds or fog up to 6000 feet high, is this possible?
