I tried out the new SP2 in a Norway tour. Cruise altitudes <11000 ft, Standard Mode used. Overall SP2 scored high: OC work much better (I would say 100%), winds and visibilities are true. Somehow cloud popping was much better also, but I am not sure if this was due to short legs, or a SP2 improvement. Issues: OAT is questionnable; I have seen 0celsius at 8000ft, while ground was M01-M04. Not sure, but seems that up to these altitudes OAT (and probably pressure) stays at around ground levels and not dropping. The only major failure I saw was at ENAT where I could see the runway from 17DME, while the METAR was as below: ENAT 141550Z 16009KT 2200 -SN V010 m0…

...for the great textures in AS 2012 !! Bought another product with lots of textures a couple of days ago but after some experimenting I'm now back with AS 2012 again and this is after trying all products I know of offering textures and yes...your textures are truely the most realistic ones IMHO and it feels good "to be home" again

Huge storm floating through Toowoomba (YTWB) to Brisbane (YBBN) at the moment 0750GMT and the weather at YTWB is few clouds at 8200ft... Darwin (YPDN) weather looks about right on the weather radar... Also I've noticed that you've got Bamaga (YBAM) weather station right next too Amberley (YAMB) on the Map screen. Bamaga is at the top of the Cape York Peninsula in Queensland.

Hi, I just did a first flight with SP2 and I observed something I believe was not there in the past. I flew EGKK/EGCC with a FP loaded in AS. Arrival weather was 150@06 4000 HZ FEW004 SCT034 10.09 Q1022 The Visibility from the Voice ATIS was in in quarters and not in meters. When the metar changed to 7000 vis the vis on Voice Atis was on miles again. Was it like that always?

I started using the new sp2 yesterday. All of a sudden I'm getting disappearing clouds, shifting winds, not sure if I have somthing set incorrectly. I am using dwc, with additional stations so maybe that is it but I have tried with them off and it is worse. Any ideas? Thank You Anthony

Hi guys. Is there a way to prevent this from happening or is it one of those FSX things? Cheers

  8. I never got this before, but some airplanes are bouncing up and down when climbing at higher altitudes. Do I fix it by disabling turbulence? Or use fsuipc to smooth pressure changes? I'm using AS2012 w/ SP2 in FSX. The airplanes are also bouncing when trying to hold altitude. This is ridiculous.

  9. Hi, I wanted to create a flight plan between my hone airport to Clermont County in Ohio. The code is I69. I tried both I69 and KI69 and both bring up the error to "Please Enter a Valid ICAO Code." This airport is in the FSX database. What's wrong? Thanks. Tom

Hi guys, just a real quick question: When i import my flight plan into AS2012, it offers to intstall textures snaphots based on the weather. Over many flights, and texture resinstalls, are previous textures over written? Im wondering if my drive will eventually fill up! Also, if i choose not to install the suggested textures (during flight plan import), will that affect weather depiction in FSX? I have a manully created theme installed that i really like, but im wondering that it might not be compatible with the current weather. Ok, re average winds in the Flight Plane page. At the bottom of the plan, it gives Averages and also Wind Component. Currently, i have 242…

  11. I went for a walk earlier to check the weather. I've been looking for a situation here where I could see good clouds in the distance when I was under clear skies at home. When I find this, I'm going to run a test in AS2012 SP1, then install SP2 beta and test that as well for a comparison. i was under a few high clouds here, and to the SSE there was a really good cloud buildup, stratus/cumulus and it looked to be fairly well overcast. Ok, I can use this... Except when I loaded AS2012, everything in that direction was clear. There were clouds reported some distance away to the southwest, and some to the northwest. Ok, that can't be right... Except that it w…

i currently have ASE running and would like to upgrade it to AS2012. Can i simply run the downloaded upgrade exe file over the existing ASE or do I need to uninstall the ASE first? Will my existing options be preserved? thanks for any help.

When testing out the graphics engine of the AS2012, I noticed that most of textures present in the AS2012 for dawn and dusk are kind of similar. The differences are very subtle, and there are hardly some vivid colors. In comparison, the other graphics engine, gives a much more diversity between the textures. Could you maybe clarify why are AS2012 textures mostly kind of cold to my eye?

Hello everyone! I have FSX with Active Sky Evolution SP3 installed. The problem is the following... Whenever i take-off/landing/approaching to an airport with low visibility conditions, everything is looking normal but then suddenly the fog layer appears. For example, i am on final approach at lets say, LIMF and at about 5NM everything is clear, then at 4NM the fog layer or whatever is called appears all of a sudden. Now, isnt the fog supposed to be seen while descending before the final so that everything has a smooth transition? Anyway, this is starting to be quite stressing. Now it may be me that has not changed much in the settings of ASE. My visibili…

Hi, a bit confused about the attached screenshot (AS2012 SP2): the METAR says CAVOK and, temporarily, showers, with broken clouds at 1400 feet. Why does the graphic representation indicate overcast clouds and moderate rain? Thanks.

I have a dual boot PC with Windows 7 for FSX and Windows XP for FS2004 because I use FSHotSFX for FS2004 which only runs on XP. I've been using ASE for FSX for years now and just installed ASE for FS2004 on the XP boot. I had been using AS6.5 for years there. Now every time I go back and forth between FSX and FS2004, ASE wants to activate the license and eventually it locked out today due too many activiations. I will be creating a support ticket for this, but is there anyway to get around this -repeat activiation of using a single license ASE on a dual boot PC? Thanks!

I was able to test and definitely adhere to what I might call a perfect conbination: FSX ( Gold ) + AS2012 + CumulusX! CumulusX! is probably not a very well known product, it's getting old, but still provides very interesting algorithms for populating the area around your aircraft, particlularly if a glider, with various types of lift and sink or turbulence that we find in real life. While CumulusX! does it's work very well, it lacks a proper weather environment to feed it's algorithms, and that's one of the main problems with default FSX weather. AS2012 provides us with what I still consider to be the most complete and detailled weather injection / simulation…

I will start off by saying that I returned OPUS, not because I didn't like the cloud depiction, but for the lacking of everything else. I have been testing in's and out's of both programs, what they depict, how they react and all, and concluded that if I want best of both worlds, AS is the way to go, especially for heavy fliers. But one thing was there that OPUS did right: get the absolutely correct METAR of the airport as seen in the reports on internet. AS2012 does not report correctly. Example now: 2012/11/05 23:20 LOWW 052320Z 29013G23KT 260V320 9999 FEW035 SCT180 09/03 Q1009 NOSIG AS2012 shows half an hour late METAR, at 2250Z, winds slighly differe…
