HI: I am in the government research community and need to be able to consistently duplicate in one location a short line of thunderstorms for a simulated aircraft to deviate around. (We have a full sized B737NG cockpit that runs FSX with Simavionics/FDS hardware) This program appears to have the capability to create consistent user defined weather, but I can't for the life of me get towering cumulus clouds to appear. What does show up on the screen is quite good, great lightning, etc., but very little vertical development. Am I missing something or should I look elsewhere? Thanks for any advice! Alan

It has come to my attention that some people took offense to my use of the term "cracker" in the thread AS2012 Sp News. To clarify, the user I was exchanging posts with was Graham3278 (he has since changed his id to FeeBee). My reference was to Graham Cracker, certainly not any sort of racial or ethnic slur. So if you were offended, please understand my intent and please accept my apologies! Thanx, Vic

I remembered user "Guenseli" found a solution for that issue, that imc conditions will get shown. Guenseli´s original post: http://forum.avsim.n...imc-conditions/ Guenseli´s solution: I had today a look into the AS2012 file and there is the same problem. It seems to be also necessary to modify the file like at ASE long time ago (?).

So I submitted a ticket yesterday because a reinstall of AS2012 would neither accept the key it came with, or the originally purchased ASA key from a few years ago. It's been 24 hours and the ticket is still in the "unassigned" category. How long does it usually take for them to fix a license problem?

Dear fellow simmers, After a couple of years I have finally time again to get back into simming. It goes without saying that I am having a ball. I started out with fs9 for the moment updated to fs9.1. I added glacier bay v2 and am just enjoying the scenery with the default Cessna before starting to add all the other addons I have. Since I had an older version of Active Sky I decided to purchase ASE and it seems to work very well. However a problem came up. When sitting on the tarmac I can clearly see a visibility layer above my aircraft starting around 50ft above the ground. Also when I land I will have a certain visibility until 50 ft above ground, then I end up und…

Is there a way for me to read the Air temp value that ASE sends to FSX to use for other puposes? I am in the process of converting a Cessna 172 fuselage into a flight sim cockpit. A link to my website and blog are in my signature line below if you are interested in looking at my project. One of the hardware items I want to enable in the sim pit is the outside air temp thermometer. I snagged a thermometer and the air vents from a 172 and will be driving the thermometer needle with a servo motor but I have not figured out how to pull the Outside Air Temp value yet. Most of my other hardware is pulling it's data from FSX via FSUIPC, but as best I can tell, FSX…

Hi folks! I've searched for answers here, but none of the posts returned seems to hit the nail on the head. I apoloqize for poor searching skills, and I hope no one expects me to go through all the posts since AS2012 was released. But I have to ask some very basic questions how to use AS2012: This was posted in another thread by Vic (Beta Tester and altogether very knowledgeable guy it seems ^_^ ) First question is to clear up the following misunderstanding on how DWC operates, the mode I thought was "native" and thus default mode for AS2012: I thought DWC changed the weather as my flight progresses? Continuously comparing the aircraft position with …

Wow again and again getting the error code "Weather load error: The magic number in GZip header is not correct. Make sure you are passing in a GZip stream." This is really starting to slow things down at least fix it when this happens so we can use old weather to fly. This has happened several times last few months are they getting ready to bail on us? I've been reading up on Active Sky 2012 versus REX Essentials (and its various other versions). Basically, so far as I can ascertain, there really isn't much overall difference meaning that it's a significant UPGRADE going from REX to AS2012. REX *might* have the edge when it comes to graphics, AS2012 *might* have the edge when it comes to speed. However, the one thing that AS2012 seems to have that REX doesn't (and no mention of it coming in the future) is Wake Turbulance, Thermal generation, Updrafts and Downdrafts ... and yet it's the one thing that I have seen no mention of. Does anyone have any experience of these, and an assessment of their value or 'believa…

For some strange reason when the weather is loaded the GS and TAS are reading when my plane is parked and not moving. Earlier today I was getting a TAS and IAS of 17knots when my plane wasn't even moving. This screwed up my landing today as well, any help appreciated.
